NOW THAT THE WHOLE MATT VANDA THING IS BEHIND THE LITTLE CLOWN THE REAL QUESTION NEEDS TO BE ASKED, WHEN IS THIS ASS CLOWN GOING TO FACE A TOP RATED CONTENDER, LOOKING AT A FEW OF THE RANKINGS DO YOU EXECPT THIS GUY TO EVEN BE COMPETITIVE AGAISNT THE LIKES OF : SECHEW POWELL JAMES KIRKLAND SERGIO MORA RICARDO MAYORGA COREY SPINKS JOACHIM ALCINE JOEL JULIO VERNO PHILLPS (IBF CHAMP) SHANE MOSELY SERGIO MARTINEZ (INTERIM WBC CHAMP) VERNON FORREST (WBC CHAMP) OSCAR DE LA HOYA DANIEL SANTOS (WBA CHAMP) TO BE HONEST WHAT I HAVE SEEN/SAW THIS GUY COULDNT BEAT ANY OF THESE GUYS AND HE IS REALLY A SIDESHOW JUST LIVING OFF HIS DAD NAME, NOTE THAT THESE ARE ALL GUYS FIGHTING AT 154, I WONT EVEN NOTE GUYS AT 147 BECAUSE THOSE GUYS ARE LEAGUES ABOVE JCC JR. WHAT ARE YOU GUYS THOUGHTS...WILL HE STEP UP? CAN HE WIN A WORLD TITLE?
Get off his back. He's basically an ammy being paid to fight, so I don't understand why the fuck these fans have such unrealistic expectations for him. He's trying to develop his own name and his own career, and with attitudes like the one you're sporting, it's going to be difficult. But, boxing fans...ugh.
Right, I'll give him 50 fights before calling for him to step it up. At least by then he should've developed into a solid contender...
TESTY...DID I STRICK A NERVE OR SOMETHING? OR DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS CAT CAN WIN A WORLD TITLE? BE A CONTENDER? THE WHOLE POINT OF HIM FIGHTING I WOULD GUESS WOULD BE TO BECOME A CHAMPION AND MAKE HIMSELF SOME OTHER THAN HIS POPS BUT CAN HE REALLY DO IT WITH THE WAY HE HAS DEVELOPED, IN ALL TRUTH HE SHOWS SOME SKILL AND HE HIS NOT AN OUTRIGHT BUM BUT TO TAKE ON GUYS SUCH AS THE PEOPLE I HAVE LISTED ABOVE HE IS GOING TO NEED ALOT MORE THAN JUST THOSE SKILLS HE HAS AND HE WILL NEVER AQUIRE THEM TAKING ON THE LIKES OF MATT VANDA, ETC...
Of that list, I most certainly wouldn't mind seeing Jr. next face someone like Sechew Powell. I think it's a realistic step up.
He's not ready to take on fighters much better than Matt Vanda at this point. As for the PPV? Go cry me a fucking river. Did you pay for it? I bet not. If you don't wanna watch; don't.
SCHWELL POWELL? IS HE READY FOR AT LEAST THAT? HOW BOUT A GUY LIKE RICARDO MAYORGA WHO IS OBVIOUSLY PAST IT WOULD HE BE ABLE TO TAKE ON A GUY LIKE THAT? EVENTUALLY WORLD CLASS FIGHTERS WOULD BE NICE...
I don't think he's ready for anyone much better than Matt Vanda. Powell is much better than Matt Vanda. If he's good enough, he will eventually take on world class fighters. No point in pushing the kid into something he's not ready for at this point and risk ruining it all. Shit, the fans were so hard on him after his first win over Vanda that he contemplated quitting. It's not easy being the son of a national icon and have a bunch of drunks expecting you to live up to your daddy.
but that's all the more reason he needs to stay out of Mexico (fight schedule wise). Go back there for the occasional stay-busy fight, but otherwise set up training camp in the US - where he can actually train. I've been on Jr's bandwagon almost from jump. I hear what you're saying on Powell, but IMO he's a name at this point. I honestly think Chavez would beat him, certainly by this time next year. Powell had a great amateur career, but he's already hit his ceiling as a pro. He's now a good gym fighter, but will never advance beyond fringe contender.
I don't disagree that he needs to stay out of Messico. This time next year is a year away. Alot can change in that time and maybe I wouldn't hesitate in picking Chavez at that time...I wouldn't now though. And I agree with you on where Powell is, btw.
OK PEEPS, I LOOKED AT BOXREC AND ON THERE JCCJR IS RANKED 37TH SO LOOKING AT GUYS ABOVE HIM AND FINDING A GUY WHO COULD CONCEIVABLY BE A GUY WITH A NAME BUT AT A POINT WERE HE CAN BE A "SAFE" PICK FOR THE YOUNGSTER I CAME TO THE PERFECT GUY...KASSIM OUMA...THIS WOULD BE A GREAT GAUGE FOR HIM...
He's a bum. His career is going nowhere. Even his old man knows this.:: He's one slow developing mofo! He's hardly made any gain whatsoever. Still the same old sh*t, fighting small guys and can't even convincingly beat bums. He ain't gonna get much better than he is now. He'll get ass f*cked if he ever steps up to a real fighter.
Nor will your boy Chavez Jr. Stop the charade already, Jake. :: This kid has ZERO qualities of a champion. He's f*cking weak. He's an 'Amir Khan' disaster waiting to happen.
dsimon writes: Cosign on everything stated by Tam. His views on junior are identical to mine. What I don't get is that favortism is rampant in the world. George Herbert Bush's son done wrecked a country because of it frankly. Its the way the world works. So here is a guy who gave his heart and soul for boxing and was a great champion (Chavez senior) and he wants his young kid... Junior is like what? 21 years young? to fight professionally and everybody acts like it is such an outrage that he gets his kid on television. First, junior is a good fighter.. he is young! He is fighting the equivalent of his ammy career right now. Second, whats the rush? He is learning. Mayweather had Roger and his father and a whole boxing tradition in Michigan to learn before he turned into a great fighter... That the best way to do it! Junior has a tradition of excellence as well. Was Mayweather fighting better comp at 21 than junior? Is junior even 21? People's hate for this kid is resentment. Too bad Hanzy and company. Fact is Chavex senior was an icon and his kid gets a chance. Its not like he is asking for his kid to be president now is it?
He's 22. A grown man, not a kid. And it's not hate. The man is weak, he's not improving and his competition is rubbish. He's trying to make a career off cans while trying to sucker people into paying for his crap. He's got no power at the world level and I don't think he has any kind of chin either. He's not going to get any better than what you see now. He's Matt Vanda level at best. He'll be in for a rude awakening once his old man finds the balls to put this MAN into a real fight.
That's Why U Turn Pro Under an ALIAS & Keep your Fights OFF Radar Until U're Actually READY to Fight a Live Body... Obviously, Chavez Jr. is TRYING to Milk his Daddy's Name...He's Basically a MALE Version of Laila Ali @ this Point... As Such, he Should EXPECT Criticism... REED:hammert:
dsimon and jake are fans of this guy but they don't know why.:notallthere: I guess everbody needs a fanbase. They probably feel sorry for this bum.
Mayweather was 21 when he beat Genaro Hernandez and Angel Manfredy. So yes, the competition was considerably better. It's a terrible comparison because nobody's expecting him to become Mayweather, or anywhere near on that level. Not sure why you mentioned him, at least without first researching your own claims. And of course the reason people hate him is resentment. By your own admission, he's still being kept at the learn-while-you-earn level, yet it's coming at a premium to anyone who wants to witness the development. I understand your argument to guys like Hanz, who bitch for the sake of bitching when the fact is he probably wouldn't even watch Jr for free. But I don't lend a lot of credence to the "fighting his ammy career" argument. It's his sixth year as a pro, with his next fight being his 40th. If he wasn't ready for pro fighters at age 17... he shouldn't have turned pro at age 17.
This guy isn't going to save the sport. He's rubbish. Get him off tv already! Somebody needs to KHTFO! F*cking going the distance with little handpicked guys. All these jockriders on here holding on hope that he's suddenly going to transform into a mexican midget version of Mike Tyson and reinvigorate the sport.:: His career is going nowhere.
I've repeatedly stated why I'm a fan. If you're too dense to comprehend, that's your problem. Just quit mentioning my name as if you know what the fuck you're talking about.
Especially Amongst HARDCORE Boxing Fans, there's an EXPECTANCY Level when a Guy REPEATEDLY Headlines PPV's... The Guy Should Either B WORLD CLASS or FIGHTING a World Class Opponent to PROVE his Own Worth...As we Type, REED CAN'T Say Either about Chavez Jr....He MIGHT B World Class, but he WON'T Fight Anybody to PROVE it... REED Doesn't Mind a Guy Taking his Time to LEARN his Craft, but that Same Guy DOESN'T Need to Get the Same "Push" that a World Class Fighter Does (T.V. Dates, PPV's, etc.)...When U're FORCING Yourself Upon an Educated Boxing Public & U're UNwilling to PROVE Yourself (As of Yet), U HAVE to Expect Backlash....That's Chavez Jr N a Nutshell... Right Now, Chavez Jr is ONLY Getting the Press he Does BECAUSE of his Father...Like REED Said, it's like Laila Ali All Over Again...& ALREADY, Laila has MILKED the Opportunity to Box Under her Famous Last Name & She's Turned her Back on Boxing...There's a Suspicion Amongst Chavez Naysayers that he's just Looking to Make a Few Paydays & the Instant he Gets Exposed, he'll Fade Off into "Bolivian".... REED Certainly Doesn't "Hate" Chavez Jr., but Right Now his BANG to HYPE Ratio is Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Out of Whack... F.Y.I., Floyd Challenged Genaro Hernandez for the WORLD Title N his 2nd or 3rd Year as a Pro...& Hernandez was UNDEFEATED @ the Weight Class that Floyd Met him @.... REED:hammert:
I'm watching Jr intently. I watched his fight this past Saturday against Vanda. I'm not seeing ANY potential in this guy whatsoever at the world level. Keep convincing yourself Jake. He's just another bum riding off his old man's name.
Reed is putting all you guys to shame. You can't disprove what Reed is saying. He's 100% on the mark. Jr is a sham!
