So why did you take down that sig saying "Chavez Jr will beat all of Hanzy's favourite fighters"?
Now you're seeing this bum ain't gonna do sh*t in his career when he can barely scrape through some guy nobody ever heard of in Matt Vanda. He doesn't have the punching power or the defense to be world class.

Why do you watch if you hate the guy so much? Do you hate money that much that you'd waste $45 on his fight? Do you hate boxing so much that you'd skip on a Showtime fight to instead pay for a show you don't feel is PPV worthy?

  4. Hanz

    Hanz Roberto Duran

No money is wasted when it comes to boxing's future rising stars. Suffice to say Jake, I paid $20 for the ppv(split with 2 guys) and skipped the Showtime card. I don't hate Chavez at all, I just think he's stealing my money and I want it back until he fights the ilk of Vernon Forrest or Shane Mosley. Then I will gladly fork over my money.

Why is Chavez Jr vs Winky Wright not being negotiated right now?

I guess it worked in at least one household.

Why do you think I'm talking so much sh*t about him now AFTER the fight, Jake?

I count eight posters in this thread alone, where you refer to JCC Jr as a bum, a sham, rubbish or weak.

    Now alll of a sudden:
:dunno:... I mean the post is a contradiction in and of itself, never mind compared to the rest of your drivel posted in this thread.

He's just trolling dude, why waste your time

I saw Fischer at Max say he will never be a titleist, I thought it was harsh, I could see him picking up a title at some stage, he will never be undisputed at a weight I would guess

It's not a contradiction. Chavez is a "rising" prospect but also a "star" considering his name. With the state of boxing as it is right now, most of us will take what we can get. But after Saturday's fight, I'm convinced now more than ever that the future of Chavez is bleak. I'm not expecting big things from the man. And that's the last fight I'll ever pay for a Chavez fight until he fights a top 10 fighter.

You didn't watch the fight if you thought he barely scraped by. The first fight yes, this one he won easy.

I know, that's really what I was trying to get Hanzy to own up to.

Chavez JR..can fight 100 Tomato Cans..or mexican cabdrivers...or mid-west truckers....but he NEEDS TO DO THAT SHIT on his OWN FUCKING TIME...HIS OWN FUCKING PPV's...

I don't want to see him in any PPV's undercard taking up a spot were they could put a real fight...

  14. REEDsART

REED Can Admit that the Level of CONTEMPT Geared Towards Chavez Jr is Probably UNwarranted for the Most Part...

He DOESN'T Seem to B a Trouble Making, PRICKish Type of Kid & he Even Got his Old Man to STOP Getting Drunk N Public as Much & Making an ASS of Himself...Seems to B a GOOD, Likable, Respectful Dude All Around...

But the Way Jr.'s Being PROMOTED Only BEGS for Criticism, Based on the Level of Comp he's Faced Thus Far....

Jr. Hasn't Necessarily EARNED the Backlash PERSONALLY, but the Actions of his Braintrust ENABLES the Backlash, Until he Starts Facing Meaningful Opposition...

If Jr.'s GENUINTELY COMMITTED To Boxing, then it's Feasible to Envision him Winning SOME Title @ SOME Point...But if he's just MILKING the Famous Last Name (Like MOST Boxing Offspring Seems to Do), he Won't...

REED is Expecting @ Least 1 EMBARRASSING Loss (He'll Either Get BLASTED OUT Like Amir Khan or have his Heart TAKEN Like Camacho Jr.) & Probably 2-3 Others, Against World Class Guys, B 4 Jr. WINS a World Title...

Even the WEAKEST Current Title Holders would HAVE to B Favored to Beat him....

He won the decision but he didn't convince the world that he's ready for somebody like Joe Calzaghe anytime in this lifetime. Who is Matt Vanda? Chavez's power is pretty limited. And he's using his head as a means of defense rather than slipping. I guess maybe because Vanda can't punch a hole through a paper bag.

Agreed. What's being overlooked by many here is the fact that these PPVs STOP Chavez Jnr from stealing dates from more serious fighters. Let him have his Top Rank PPVs. As long as he isn't stealing HBO and Showtime dates when he's fighting this level of comp.

  17. Jake

Jake WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

The one positive that comes out of putting Jr atop the bill is that it allows Top Rank to gain that much more exposure for their other fighters

For example, last weekend's show included Nonito Donaire, Jorge Arce, Lamont Peterson and the pro debut of Matvey Korobov.

A PPV show last year (when he fought Rey Sanchez) included Arce, Ivan Calderon and Mike Alvarado.

Yes, the price tag sucks - in no way, shape or form was last weekend's card worth $44.95. In an ideal world (one where PPV's are still a necessary evil), such a show would cost $19.95, or absolutely no more than $24.95. It's even worse that it comes wedged in between two higher profile PPV shows.

But in the absence of TV dates for the aforementioned fighters, I don't necessarily mind the exploitation angle in building Chavez' career. But that's the exception - Chavez' other two PPV shows this year were absolute shit. In fact, the undercard for the first Vanda fight was arguably better than the other two cards.

Damn, in gauging Chavez Jr's career, you've so far in this thread mentioned Winky Wright, Joe Calzaghe, Vernon Forrest, Shane Mosley and also the phrase "This guy isn't going to save the sport."

Notice that you're the ONLY one going this route, since a grand total of nobody else has superstar expectations for him in the immediate future.

I even mentioned Sechew Powell as a possibility. I thought Alfonso Gomez would've been a suitable test at any point this year. Ditto for Carlos Baldomir. That's where I presently see his career. Those are my expectations for the immediate future. And I'm fairly sure I'm not alone, if anything I might be more ambitious than most.

  20. Eaner v2.0

well since Diaz Morales he has been on his own PPVs.

plus since the Judah Cotto fight I think every PPV he has been on has been a Top Rank PPV and not an HBO or Showtime driven affair...edit: Morales Diaz was an HBO distribution the same way JMM Casa was

I guess the point I am making is that while Chavez hasnt progressed enough to be considered a serious threat neither is he really being shoved down our throats because these are for the most part independent PPVs and not some mainstream fights where we have no choice but to watch him

This thread cracks me up. Who gives two fucks about Chavez Jr.?:dunno: Let the guy fight who he fights. If he steps up and beats someone, then you make a thread about him. Until then, let the guy get paid to fight cans. Good for him. Shit, I wish I could.

They also didn't charge $44.95 to my credit card to see them fight guys who work at my local Burger King.

Yeah but if you started going the distance with those bums, what kinda future do you really have? I thought Jr would be ready for Mosley or Wright by now.
