I not only picked Jones to beat Toney, but won more money on that fight than on any other fight involving Roy.

Joe will come out throwing a lot in the first few rounds. The guy has a massive work rate, I don't think he will come out slow.

I love RJJ's upper-cuts to the pit of the stomach. If he can land that punch consistently from the ropes he will own Sloppy.

Sloppy makes a lot of mistakes. He squares up and does the doggy paddle against mediocre opposition, and relies on preferential treatment from the referee when he's fighting better than average competition.

He seems to have a pretty good chin. But let's face it. Hopkins looked like shyte against Sloppy. I think it actually hurt him the fact that he knocked Sloppy down so early on. I think the rest of the fight he was trying to set up a knock-out and paid for it with a decision loss.

Also, he might've felt strength and grit on the inside from Calzaghe (holding and hitting tantamount to his own) that intimidated him.

In any case, I don't put much stock in Sloppy's win over Hopkins. I still think he's over-rated as hell and that more than anything it's been his management and home-town advantage that he kept him undefeated.

Roy's been old and shot as a boxer for 4+ years. Shockingly he will continue to be old and shot this Saturday.

    Calzaghe by easy UD.

Joe, go fk yourself. I'll choose whomever I damn well please. And in the end, it will have no impact on who wins. You know this. And every other sensible poster on this board knows it (which doesn't include everybody by the way).

The joke is stale. Wouldn't you say?

I will say this: I think RJJ's style is more suited to defeating Sloppy than Hopkins' is.

I think Hopkins had two choices in the fight. Wrestle Sloppy for 12 rounds and lose a decision (see Calzaghe/Starie). Or try to knock him out. I'm not sure if he decided going in which strategy he would employ, but I'm sure having knocked him down, he opted for the latter.

It's tough to beat a guy who throws 100 slaps a round. And who won't fight you fair and square inside, but will solicit the help of his hand-picked referee should he need a break in the action while he's holding and hitting.

i haven't decided who i'm picking yet. in keeping with my new approach of NOT picking with my heart, i need to put some thought into this one.

of course, i'll make an official pick by Friday, and if it happens to be RJJ, then you're on.

roy's going to lose the first 4 rounds based on his lack of punch output. maybe he'll win the 5th or 6th round, but calzaghe will only get stronger down the stretch and proceed to win round after round.

i wouldn't rule out of knockout, but what i would rule out is a roy jones victory.

hopefully, i'm wrong and roy somewhat pulls a rabbit out of his ass and win.

at that point i didn't hate sloppy because he hadn't been at it as long by that point and i assumed he would take on all comers. little did i know he'd take the same cowardly approach to opponent selection that RJJ did.

plus, at that stage, i wasn't convinced Sloppy couldn't beat RJJ, given his penchant for stink.

and 5 years ago, RJJ wasn't proving himself one bit except to his groupies - he'd already entered his Harlem Globe Trotter mode where he extorted HBO and fought under-matched crap opponents who somehow he impressed people by defeating.

plus, he was heavily roided up which was obvious so i was never impressed with the man, knowing he was juicing.

Five years ago Calzaghe was five years in to a title reign where he fought no one. Believe me, if there was a fighter today with the same resume and status that Calzaghe had five years ago, you would hate him.

almost wrestled him into oblivion. can't blame him. if he'd have traded with lacy he most certainly would've gotten the worst of it. instead he chose to hit and hold his way to a lop-sided decision.

No shit, not a very sensible comment if he meant it.

Similar resume, if not status, fighters would be Erdei and Narvaez, I'd say.

Joe beat the brakes off of Lacy, and perhaps he was never the same since, yet most here picked Lacy to beat him that night. That fight is also on youtube if you would like to see it.

This is gonna go alot like Hagler vs. Leonard.

ALot of people will think that Joe won the fight.....but Roy will get the decision.

    No KO here.
