His career hasn't finished yet,.. two victories over Hopkins, the current lord of the universe,.. "Mr Unknockoutable" they call him, amongst other LEGENDARY things,.. Jermaine is in the Hall,.. if Hopkins is going, Jermaine has to come as a pair,.. as pair as Zab and Baldomir they say,..:crafty:

That's correct. The main reason to that is their personality (and fans). Calzaghe seems like a nice fellow, Roy seems arrogant and his fans are themost annoying in the business.

He's VERY MUCH his FATHER's SON N that Regard (Who REED Actually LIKED N the 24/7 Episodes)...

Just ADMIT that Calzaghe is EASIER for YOU to Digest for "Whatever Reason" & We Can LEAVE it @ that...

Taylor beating Hopkins will go down in history as the two biggest fluke wins ever.

Hopkins blew both fights, and he STILL arguably won both of them.

GTFOH! Say what you want about Roy, but none in the boxing world has ever said he wasnt a good guy.

Arrogant yes. But 90% of great athletes are to an extent. A bit of an eccentric maybe, but theres no doubt that overall he's a good guy.

He's not a prick like a Floyd, or Holmes.

Calzaghe's showboating looked stupid, he looked like a retarted monkey

but at least he was right in front of the opponent when he did it....i hate when a fighter showboats from outside punching distance when there's no chance of getting hit in return

That is not an overstatement I must say:lol:

I do think Roy is a nice fellow with his fans, but in interviews he didn't look that way. Then again I truly liked Larry Holmes even though he was obviously a dick on purpose.

I guess it is sosad we can't all be alike

Is it just me or was the Jones, Hopkins video argument one of the funniest moments in boxing ever. I wonder if I still have that on tape. What fight did it happen during, does anyone know?

aside from Toney, Roy always got a whooping when he fought the best fighter of a division, or he'd avoid them all together....calzaghe fight was no different to this rule of thumb

You know, in light of these "woulda" "coulda" threads, I can't help but feel like Calzaghe must sit up nights with a gnawing feeling in his gut.

Knowing him he probably doesn't. He probably sleeps like a baby with posters of himself on his bedroom walls.

But he should. Because he should have been in that ring with the likes of Hopkins and Jones years ago, while he was fighting the local barroom toughguy. I have always disliked Calzaghe for many reasons, but if nothing else, he has proven that he is not a phony. He has proven that he has skills, heart, and is an excellent fighter.

How can he not lament his cowering, nondescript, pathetic career that he spent 90% of doing absolutely nothing, now that he realizes that he indeed may have been an all-time great if he had only had the balls to risk getting beat when it MATTERED?

I mean, he could have been the Castillo to Jones' Mayweather. Although I think he probably loses to both Jones and Hopkins nearer to their primes, you cannot deny that he may have come in and given either one a hard fight, making a name for himself, and maybe...just maybe pulling out a decision.

Can you imagine how Joe would go down in boxing history if he was the first to BEAT Roy Jones? And then to continue on and retire undefeated?

If nothing else, let this be a lesson to the next Hatton or Calzaghe to pop up out of the gyms in Britain. They can't see it through their "yellow" tinted glasses, but they are doing themselves a huge disservice kicking around the same hick towns all their lives, making excuses and setting dates 5 years in the future when they will eventually get around to fighting the best American fighters,

In my mind, no matter WHAT Joe Calzaghe does now, he can NEVER make up for WASTING 3/4 or his career, and he will NEVER get back those wasted opportunities to face the greats when it MATTERED.

And that's sad, because Joe just might have had what it took to beat Hopkins or Jones when they were in their primes. Unlikely, but he had a shot, and now we'll never know. So I am sure Joe is on to considering a Trinidad fight next. Great.

You Jones nuthuggers are a fucking joke. The truth is a PRIME Roy Jones doesn't sign the contract to fight Calzaghe. He was busy feating on bums and getting paid millions by HBO.
