He clowned himself because he obviously never looked in the mirror when he did that.

Roy hasn't been any kind of factor in years. This win means little. It's just another name on Calzaghe's resume. Roy's name at this point in time is about as meaningful as Ali's name was on Berbick's resume. Who even gives a sh*t?:dunno:

I wouldn't have had a problem with either. I was actually laughing my ass off. Roy always clowns his opponents and to have it happen to him was funny as hell.

Does it really matter? Fact of the matter is Joe was having his way with Roy and wanted Roy to know it. Who cares if he didn't look good doing it? The fact that he did it against a guy who is notrious for doing it himself was laughable.

I'll eat crow too. Joe beat RJJ fair and square.

Still though, I maintain Roy matches up well against Calzaghe. Well, a younger version that is. Yeah, Joe is no spring chicken himself, but Jones is way further down the road than he is.

Clowning a guy who's nearly 40 and hasn't been a factor in over 4 years isn't going to gain Calzaghe a medal for bravery. He won the fight, that's where it ends. All that other stuff he pulled during the fight is just going to make the american fans want him dead. And nobody is impressed that he decisioned an old guy who got KTFO into next week by Tarver and Johnson in back to back fights.

Sugar Ray looked like a jackass showboating against Duran IMO. Showboating to me in boxing was never impressive as in other sports such as football, basketball, and baseball.

I feel for the guy, can I not have compasion for people who look stupid? It's like Bowe trying to act like Ali when he was trying to find himself, it's just WRONG.

Roy did it to an extent but Joe did this every second of the fight. The whole fight looked like a farce. It's not like we're seeing prime fighters at their best. One guy is completely washed up and a shadow of himself. How awesome was it seeing Holmes clown Ali?
I don't know, maybe you're right that it's all well and good in sports but Calzaghe should save it for his home crowd.

Garbage and you know it. Ali had been in alot of tough fights and was already going through Parkinson's when he fought Berbick. Roy just lost his confidence after the second Tarver fight. Roy's skills and handspeed are still incredible he just doesn't have the stamina or confidence he use too.

He can be who he is, that's fine. He ain't gonna lose sleep over it I'm sure. Although let's hope when he's deteriorated and if he ends up being stupid enough to continue fighting when all his skills have eroded, a younger guy won't be blowing him kisses while smashing the f*ck out of him.

I guess you are entitled to your opinion, but slamming a football on the ground, yelling about a tackle, or holding on a goal post is never in the same league as this....

Big deal. Tyson's handspeed and power were still incredible too but guess what, the small elements in his game which made him the fearsome monster in his prime were long gone and hence he was a bitch to many inferior fighters in later years. Same with Jones. Jones is just a name at this point.

Compare Roy at this stage to Ali from the Berbick fight is extreme. That was my whole point. Ali couldn't even get a licenses in america to fight by that point.

After the whooping Lewis gave Tyson, he couldn't even beat bums and became a quitter.

Another bad comaprison. Jones is far removed from his peak years, but he wasn't exactly a shit fighter either. Tyson gave up being a true fighter after Holyfield beat his ass in there first fight.

Exactly but even before then, Tyson had lost his confidence after Holyfield was done with him. Much like Jones after the Tarver fight. Glen Johnson took out the scraps. And after a few farce shows against no names, Jones managed to squeek in a couple more decent paydays with Trinidad and Calzaghe.
Jones has been shot for years.

How can you say Jones wasn't a shit fighter considering the last legit challenge he faced at LH was Glen Johnson back in September 2004 who almost killed Jones? Who did Jones fight and beat since then to prove he was still a great fighter?

Whatever the case. Joe had every right to showboat and I find it funny that people here are complaining about it. Joe dominated Roy and has the right to clown him if feels like it regardless of how dumb some might have thought he looked.

Not saying he was a great fighter. What I'm saying is his skills were still very high. Roy just doesn't have the confidence or will to fight at the level needed. Example, look at his first fight with Tarver. Antonio came at a weight drained Roy and gave him hell, but Roy came back and won cause of his will. Then look at there third fight. At times Roy was clowing Tarver and looked great, but he was to afraid to really go after him. Then when Tarver rang his bell in the 10th or 11th round, Roy just ran away to survive. His confidence is completely gone. For the most part his skills are still there.

Well I respectfully disagree. Cause IMO Joe wasn't doing it to look good. He was doing it to send a message to Roy.
