NEW YORK—Barack Obama and John McCain ended their American presidential campaigns last Tuesday. But for the world’s finest super middleweight boxer, Mikkel Kessler of Denmark, the campaigning continues.

Kessler-Hopkins would be a fascinating one.

I doubt he gets either fight deserving or not.

Didn't he pull out of a fight with Miranda of all people? I say let him wait.

I would love to see Kessler fight Hopkins. What do you say MTF?

I´d love to see the rematch with Calzaghe, but to be honest I think Calzaghe knows Kessler would beat him. That´s why he´ll never give him the rematch Kessler deserves.

I'd personally rather see Kessler vs Taylor-Lacy winner

I'm a fan of Kessler and I hope he gets that "big fight" but why does he deserve a re-match against Joe, Calzaghe beat him convincingly.

what does beating Kessler again at this point achieve?....Kessler has done nothing yet to suggest he's made the kind of improvement necessary to beat Joe, or make the fight any closer.......one could say Kessler learnt lessons in there but so did Joe....he sussed the Dane's style ran away with the victory in the second half of the fight

Retardation. Calzaghe won clearly and he'd do exactly the same in the rematch. Calzaghe is simply the better fighter.

For his willingness as a fellow champion to go into Calzaghe´s backyard and put his two belts on the line.

After the Kessler fight Joe only had a few fights left - a re-match would have been a waste and he would have been criticized for it.

So what? In a fight that was a clear win for Calzaghe with no controversy, a rematch is not warranted or expected, outside Kessler groupies.

I thought Kessler easily won the 12th round by letting his hands go in combinations. And he can built on that, plus there were rumours before the fight that Kessler had suffered a hand injury prior to the fight, and he had surgery after the fight. I scored it 116-113, so 7-4-1, so not as one-sided as MWS 135-106 Calzaghe.

Is there a better challenger than Kessler at 168 or 175? Maybe Dawson or the Hopkins rematch. Otherwise he might as well retire.

I scored it 8-4, so probably the round you had a draw, I scored for Calzaghe. It was a clear win for Joe, get over it, Kessler does not deserve a rematch.

And at this stage of his career, on the verge of retirement, Calzaghe really would be criticised for fighting Kessler again. People would be like "Why is he fighting Kessler again, a guy he clearly beat the first time?".

Nobody scored it for Kessler, Kessler himself knows he lost the fight, there was nothing fluky about it, therefore a rematch would be relatively pointless.

Calzaghe was critized for fighting Roy Jones as well. Didn't stop that fight from happening. Wonder why.

Who said it was fluky? Great fighters can make adjustments. It wouldn´t be the first time in history. The question is who else is out there?

Calzaghe proved to be the one to make adjustments, not Kessler. Once Calzaghe got into his groove, Kessler couldn't make the necessary adjustments to win, or even make it close actually for the remainder of the fight.

A rematch would be no different. I think the bookies would probably have Joe as a more significant favrourite than the first fight.

You ask who else is out there? Dawson.

Now let me say, I think Kessler is a better fighter than Dawson. I don't rate Dawson that highly at all, in fact I think Coffe beat him. But some believe him to be the best 175 pounder in the world, and Calzaghe has beaten Kessler, and hasn't beaten Dawson, simple as that. He'd get more credit for beating Dawson than Kessler again.

Maybe Joe should call out Haye at 175? I'd favour Joe by easy decision or late stoppage :kidcool:

It wouldn't Tam. It's not like the first fight was a seesaw battle, with both fighters hurt, and one of them ended up KO'd.

It is not the kind of precarious matchup that looked to be able to go either way, like Vazquez Marquez.

Both of them fought well, both of them looked how they normally do, there was no aberration.

Both of them are decent punchers, but neither hurt the other, and Calzaghe has a great chin anyway, it would take a proper beast, or much larger man to keep Calzaghe down.

The rematch would be predictable, it would be very much like the first fight. If anything Calzaghe would get into his groove a little quicker, seeing as he knows Kessler, and win a more dominant decision.

Kessler beats Hopkins at this point and I think would be a very live underdog in a RE with Slappy.

No we don't all know, that's my opinion that the rematch would be very similar to the first, so why not offer yours?

Kessler should be calling out the winner of lacy or taylor, I don't see Calzaghe, Hopkins or Bute and Inkin (for different reasons) looking at him in the near future. His next mando is rubbish, maybe the likes of an allen green, maybe the winner of paschal-froch on showtime, these hosuld be his next targets.
