I have been watching boxing now for 20 years and Saturday night saddened me. We all watched a great fighter Roy Jones Jr lose a 12 round lopsided fight. This was a shell of the fighter I seen years ago. Roy Jones in his prime was arguably the most gifted ATHLETE I had the pleasure of seeing. I hope RJ retires because he has nothing to prove. To all RJ fans enjoy!

BTW this forum is still the best forum out. No one comes close as far as quality posters!

    +1

Unfortunately this happens too often in the sport of boxing, guys just don't know when to hang them up, thats the game I guess, the fighting spirit.

Props to Roy on a fantastic career.

It's fucking ridiculous isn't it... It puts a smile on my face no matter who he fights - his moves alone entertain/amaze me.

ooooh i'm such a fanboy! :cheer:

That 3 piece Roy hit Hanshaw with was especially vicious and fast, and that wasn't too long ago.
Regardiing Joe and Roy, If Roy was one to be taken seriously, Joe would have fought him more seriously. The truth is these 2 cameltoes would have ducked each other in their primes.

Was thinking of posting the exact same thread yesterday! I was never a Roy fan, but watching him lose like that made me nostalgic for my early days following boxing when Roy's very presence seemed to tower over the sport. As 14, 15 year old kid I couldn't imagine anyone ever beating him and it was so exciting to have someone like that around. We really might never see anyone look so dominant and spectacular again and we should be grateful we were around to see it.
    :bears:

Again, great minds think alike! Was thinking the exact same thing when I logged on this morning. Love all you guys!:cheer::hump::cheer:

It was years before i finally saw him fight, probably towards the end of his career to be honest. It must have been around about the Glen Kelly fight. . . .

But i'll always remember his name mentioned as if akin to some hero marauding across some distant land. Every time i watched boxing i would hear about some guy called 'Roy Jones Jr' who was untouchable.

Finally getting to watch his older fights was an eye opener, to say the least.

    Limitless talent.

I am going to go out on a limb here and assume that "any non heavyweight" would exclude Lewis.......
