    I don't get the Kessler-Pavlik comparison.

    That seems way too simplistic.

Kessler has a LONG ways to go to reach the all time great status that Hopkins has already reached. There is simply no comparison right now.

Kessler lands some sick shots on Calzaghe, I remember watching thinking to myself get on your bike Joe, But Calzaghe ate it up and dominated the Dane.

    But there is.

I said Kessler IS better than Hopkins. Imo, he is.

Will he be as great? That depends on how many "great" American junior middleweights and middleweights he can lure up to 168 to smack around.

Will he be greater? That depends on how many great American fighters have the balls to fight him at any weight.

Hopkins vs. Kessler would be a pick 'em, IMO.

That will be a fight that cannot be missed by die hard fight fans.

Come on. Calzaghe won and won clear, but at no point in time did he "dominate" in that fight.

He dominated the second half. Kessler looked outclassed and befuddled.

Man, the fuck he did. He won th fight and won about 8 rounds. Each round was contested and Calzaghe did more in each of them. Kessler was never hurt, laying on the ropes, unable to land punches in return...or whatever. Joe won the rounds but he was never clearly in another league.

    Domination indicates such.

He dominated Lacy, he outpointed Kessler...he did what he had to do to win the rounds but at no point did he do as he liked with kessler, the dane kept him honest throughout, hence no domination

Starting in round 6 or 7, Calzaghe started to look looser and more relaxed in there, and basically started doing what he wanted with Mikkel, making him miss, tagging him with combos, shoving him around etc.

He didn't dominate the entire fight, but there was certainly rounds in the second half that he dominated.

I agree he won 8 rounds. It wasn't an easy fight, but by the end of the fight, it seemed to be a pretty clear, dominant win.

You're right, kessler wasn't hurt, and at no point did he look like a totally beaten man - it wasn't a Lacy type domination, but the second half of the fight Joe did win in dominant fashion.

I'm not necessarily saying he isn't- I just don't think he's smart or adaptable enough to beat Nard...

Maybe dominated is a little disrespectful to Kessler but I gotta agree with Mex, as soon as Joe figured the Dane out it was his fight..

The point being with Joe likely to retire or maybe have one more fight a re-match against Kessler is pointless.
