Height and reach don't mean much. Whitaker boxed the shit out of a much fresher De La Hoya, with similar dimensions. Not saying it'll happen, but size generally has little to do with it.
yeh exactly he was probably on a coke binge and banged his wife 10 times the night before this sparring session :hump:
WHAT JAB? I mean, when was the last time he used his jab effectively?? :dunno: Oscar might tag him with hooks and right hands, but the jab will NOT be there, you will see...
Yeah, but as Tam says, size often has little to do with it...especially if a fighter is smaller, but quicker. DLH's legs have been pretty faded in recent years (matter of fact, for a good while). Despite Manny being awkward, sometimes off-balance, and not fully technically sound...I can see this happening. If Manny gets on his toes and uses his very quick feet to jump in and out and bobs and weaves....I think he can get to DLH quite a bit without getting nailed with a big shot. The thing about DLH is that he doesn't "like getting hit". We use that alot when in reality NO boxers likes getting hit, but what that phrase means is that DLH is not the kind of boxer who will 'take one to give one'; and he also freezes up when he gets hit - even with a jab. Those micro-seconds are all Manny needs to look real good doing this for long stretches of the fight. To feel comfortable, DLH has to be dictating the pace and be in control. When he is outspeeded or is in with an unpredictable fighter, he is uncomfortable and isn't the kind of fighter who will launch combinations freely or will exchange proactively. Combine that with the fact that he won't be able to move his feet nearly as fast as Pacquiao; and potential late stamina issues..... And you have a very probable scenario for Manny winning. Not to mention....Manny is going to once again surprise everyone and look pretty big/filled out at the weight. Peace.
good post... but Manny jumping around can all end with one good left hook from DLH...in this fight i think DLH uppercut will be the KO punch... that is if the FIX is not in....
Pacquiao has fast feet but IMO it just forward and backwards...moving side to side is not his thing....
There are couple things that concern me regarding this fight. First thing is will Pac be fast at 147lbs. We don't know how he will carry that weight nor do we know if he will carry his power up to 147lbs. At some point gaining all that weight will have a negative effect on his body. Not to mention will he be able to box effectively for 12 rounds with all that extra weight. Another thing that concerns me is that Manny gets hit often. I mean his defense his pretty average if you ask me. Now let's compare what DLH did to PBF who is known to make people miss and he was able to land some solid punches on him. My last point and for those that feel that Manny will stop DLH. Get the fuck outta here. One thing we all know about DLH is that he prolly has one of the toughest beards in the game today. Manny is in a no win situation and he will get beat down come Dec 6th. I'll Holla 5000
Oscars cutting to 147,something he hasn't done in eight years....oh and he's 35 freakin years old...What are your thoughts on that?
My thoughts are that the weight could be a factor as well as his age. But not to the point where he will look old like RJ did against Calzaghe. One thing we do know is that Manny gets hit and DLH will be the strongest and most powerful guy he's ever fought which could spell trouble for Manny. Again Manny is not this slick boxer that is known to make guys miss. Manny comes at guys to overwhelm them with his speed and power. His power won't have an effect on DLH and like I stated at 147 how much will his speed be compromised. I'll Holla 5000
dsimon writes: Agreed. Manny was amazingly accurate against marquez....his punches will have radar! As said manny has quick feet and he punches as good as anyome ever in the lower weights...especially when accuracy is considered.
The best thing anybody can do is boycott this piece of sh*t and just watch an online stream. Why put more money in that crook DLH's pockets?
Gets on his toes, jumps in and out to what end? Pacquiao throws most of his punches at or below chest level...against DLH he'll have to do some reaching, and so he's going to be off balance, and he's going to be wide open - up the middle - and his chin will be up and available while he's doing it. Eventually, he'll probably get tired carrying 147...and when he gets tired he gets sloppier. He's going to have to concentrate most of what he's got on DLH's body, and DLH will be more than mindful of it.
:notallthere: Size generally has everything to do with it.. Guys like Pernell and Floyd are the EXCEPTION to the rule in boxing...
and both those guys are all time great defensive fighters...Manny Pacquiao is 95% a straight ahead fighter...
NO......thats why i keep asking do DLH have any options on Pacquiao future fights....I can see DLH letting Pacquiao win the fight...to set up "for the first time this century the two best P4P fighters in the world collide" PACQUIAO vs. MAYWEATHER....and DLH could still fight Hatton...
Pacquiao is Arum's property. No way he'll let Oscar grab a piece of the pie. Oscar will fight him to buy more HBO dates for his promotion company.
sure he will....you think DLH would allow Arum to make money out of him..without getting something in return.....?? HBO would keep giving DLH dates regardless...
