this one.. honestly I see Floyd doing ok for the first couple rounds maybe.. maybe even 4 rounds.. then Ray taking over.. Ray IMO is faster.. no doubt more aggressive, more heart, great proven chin.. I like Ray in this fight.. and I'm a floyd fan as well
It'll have to be a P4P matchup..because straight up at 147lbs...Ray is too big for Floyd and the styles clash would cause Floyd to lose a pretty clear decision. Forget about Ray knocking him out though....not possible. IF they were the same size naturally (P4P) Floyd would win a close decision by the mere fact he's harder to hit.
Floyd is a f*cking joke. The guy got puzzled when a shot inactive Oscar started throwing a jab in his face. Then the old man couldn't sustain it. Leonard would eat Floyd's fairy ass alive!
P4P? You must be on crack,Foyd is clearly the better fighter. SRL would beat Floyd, I agree. Higher workrate and the pop to concern Floyd and stop him from controlling the match. But Oscar? Come on.
'P4P'? They fought at all the exact same weight classes, ffs. Away with this 'p4p' crap, it's utterly nonsensical. Total dead end. I'd pick prime Oscar over Floyd at 140 or 147. Lower than that I'd have reservations. And I'd pick Leonard over Floyd at 147 in a heart beat.
Slightly misleading when you factor in day before weigh ins. Granted, Ray was the bigger man, but I bet Corrales and Castillo both weighed at least as much when they fought Floyd as Ray ever weighed in a welterweight fight.
Its not about weight, its about size. Theres a differance. Castillo may have come into the ring weighing 150, but he was not as big as Leonard. Neither was Corrales. Thats not even factoring in the HUGE differance in quality between Ray and the likes of Castillo, and Chico. Not to mention, the huge diferance in quality between a prime Ray, and a washed up Oscar.
at 147 it's Leonard easily p4p...Leonard would edge it out on the judges cards as he'd do more to win each round...Floyd is too content to throw few punches each round in a close fight.....while Ray would flurry and do what he has to tilt things in his favour also seeing how Floyd lost early rounds to Judah's handspeed doesn't help his case
SRL beats the piss out Floyd just like he beat his daddy. No shame really, gay ray was bigger, stronger and frankly better.
All true. i was just making the point that mentioning 17lb as if that's the scale of the difference is bullshit. If Ray had the luxury of day before weigh ins he would have won his first title at weights well below welterweight, too. And he would come into a fight at welter at least 10lb south of what De la Hoya weighed vs Mayweather and probably about exactly the same weight as Floyd himself. Yeah, Ray would be bigger but it wouldn't be the determining factor, quality would.
Once upon a time, I'm sure someone made the same argument for Wilfredo Benitez. Granted, Floyd's training camp most likely wouldn't be set up in a nightclub ::... but still. I think Ray beats him, regardless of the scenario. I agree with you that a knockout is highly unlikely (not completely out of the question, but no real reason to believe it would happen, either).
Nah, at super feather looked as good as Leonard ever did or at least very close to it. Don't join those old-time biasboys
You're just speculating Hut*Hut (About all this weight shit) FACT is, SRL was bigger and fought in more than 2 weight classes up as an amateur and started his career 3 weight classes up, fought and moved up sucessfuly up to 175 lbs. It's like matching him against Calzaghe/RJJ at 168/175. YES, Ray was a better/greater fighter but pretending weight would not be an issue shows bias. Like him or hate Floyd is among the best fighters ever and he would match good with anyone, win or lose giving a tough fight.
I feel that floyd is becoming under-rated really.. honestly.. I think Floyd is a GREAT fighter.. difference is though.. IMO if Floyd wanted to, he could have KO'd Hatton earlier.. he prolly could have stopped DLH.. thing about Ray is he is a good boxer but he will go to war too.. he will not do just enough.. he'll try to take you out.. that's what bothers me about FLoyd and Roy.. both tend to be ok with just beating you but not taking you out
I never said size wouldn't be an issue at all, I just said it wouldn't be the determining factor. They would both come in weighing the exact same without an ounce of fat on them and Ray would be much smaller than the Oscar Floyd fought and beat. And lets get it right - Ray never fought at 175, he fought at Super middle, weighing 165, with a same day weigh in. Today that's Light Middleweight. And when day before way ins became the norm that's the division he reverted to, which is one division north of where Floyd finished his career. So Ray is NOWHERE NEAR the size of RJJ or Calzaghe; in truth he's no bigger in height or bone structure than Oscar, and as I said in a fight with Floyd would come in weighing about 15lb less than Oscar did when Floyd fought him.
I'm not talking so much about how impressive he may have appeared @ any particular weight Ugotabe Kidding. What I mean is PBF is not even close to being the "fighter" (pick almost any criteria u like) SRL was.
And that's rubish. Floyd is more than close in skills, defense (Quite better, actually), ring smarts, adaptability, mental toughness, counterpunching, etc. YES, RL was more complete, more workrate and power and overall a greater fighter but comments like "not even close" between two great fighters just shows your obvious dislike to one of them and the bias most tend to show to old generation fighters.
