Enzo Maccarinelli has promised an explosive display on December 6 against Johnathon Banks - and says he'll then go on to clean up the cruiserweight division in 2009. The Welsh wizard challenges for his previously held WBO World title against highly-touted American Banks at the ExCeL London. It's his first fight back since losing to David Haye in March, and Maccarinelli is vowing to get back to winning ways in a fortnight's time. "I watch the Haye fight at least twice a week, and ever since I lost I've been wanting to get back into the ring to prove that I just made a couple of silly mistakes," said Maccarinelli. more: http://fightbeat.com/news_details.php?NW=21964
I'd like Banks' chances a lot more if he wasn't so damn protected. Aside from pure potential, there's nothing on his resume to suggest how he'd fare against Enzo or any other notable cruiserweight.
Banks Fought 1 of the Castillo Brothers (Eliecer, Eliseo???) & Weathered a MISERABLE Start to Score an IMPRESSIVE KO... & Even Though it's just SPARRING, the Work he Does w/Wlad Should HELP him Against Crusiers... REED:dunno:
I was at that fight brother Reed. Banks almost got laid out. I thought he was done. His comeback was a miracle. C
Yeah, Banks has HEART for Sure...He was Dropped TWICE N that Fight & Looked DONE, but Came Back to Score a KO... & he was a Pretty Decent Ammy... REED's Only Seen Macaroni vs. Haye, so REED'll Go w/Banks N this 1... REED:kidcool:
More than Likely... Banks is Wlad's Chief Sparring Partner & he was Part of Wlad's Entourage for the Tony Thompson Fight.... REED:hammert:
The winner is just keeping the belt warm till Alex "The Surgeon" Alekseev will shred him into pieces. That being said Enzo will win.
Vacant WBO. Enzo didn´t get to kiss it goodbye against Haye, so he´ll borrow it for a couple of months.
I love how the WBO are gonna give their boy the belt back...and ignore the fact that he's a chinless scrub who was belted by a sloppy ass fake heavy earlier this year.
It's for TWO belts! Enzo's old title (the one he lost to Haye) and the IBO title that Banks apparently own But yeah, you gotta love the fact that a guy coming off of an early knockout loss in his last fight remains first in line for a vacant title shot.
...well Enzo deserves credit for throwing himself back into the line of fire so soon after what was a devastating defeat....and the same thing happening again is a possibility.....unfortunately i dont know enough about Banks to know how big that possibility is, but his record on paper at least suggests this is the fight to watch on Warren's London bill which also includes Amir Khan, Nicky Cook and.......A-farce himself!... ....btw, for any brits who didn't know.....this card is gonna be ppv....but you do get DLH-Pacquaio thrown in too.......prob best to save your pounds, watch Froch-Pascal instead and get DLH-Pacquaio off a stream
yeah, it is a small shame and takes away the one decent fight away from the London leg of Sky's PPV offering
Yeah, I was looking forward to this scrap. BTW, I didn't know K2 was Banks' promoter. I know Banks is usually in Klitschko's corner and has Steward in his, but I didn't know that.
Looks like it could be Herbie Hide. Whoever lands first wins. My money is on Enzo by 1st round KO, hopefully the odds will be decent.
Hide has been running his mouth for a long time...hopefully he steps up to this one cos it should be a cracker
He's apparently fighting a lightweight now. BJ Flores was offered the fight, but turned it down due to short notice. I wouldn't mind seeing Macc fight him or Hide next year.
