 Just joking, here are the real numbers:

UFC 91 hits 800K+ ppv mark...
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter this week, Dave Meltzer has a short report on early numbers for the UFC 91 show. He reports that it looks to have beaten UFC 61 (Ortiz v. Shamrock) and came up just below UFC 66 (Ortiz vs. Liddell) in some areas.
I've received two preliminary estimates that put it in the 800,000-850,000 range. If those numbers hold up, it will be the second biggest UFC buyrate ever. It did not do the 1.2 million that White predicted, but I never believed this show could break a million without an incredible promotional push. It didn't get that push, but still apparently did great business.
Internal estimates were in the 800-900 range, the 1.2 million was public bluster to get ESPN to cover it. The tactic worked, but I get the feeling that scam will only work once.
Before this show, Couture's highest buyrate was against Tim Sylvia for his 2007 return that did 540,000 buys.

Here's also the payouts for the fighters for that same event:

Brock Lesnar $450,000 ($250,000 +$200,000 win bonus) def. Randy Couture $250,000

Kenny Florian $80,000 ($40,000 +$40,000 win bonus) def. Joe Stevenson $35,000

    Gabriel Gonzaga $110,000 ($55,000 + $55,000 win bonus) def. Josh Hendricks $8,000

    Demian Maia $40,000 ($20,000 + $20,000 win bonus) def. Nate Quarry $25,000

    Dustin Hazelett $28,000 ($14,000 + $14,000 win bonus) def. Tamdan McCrory $10,000

    Aaron Riley $8,000 ($4,000 + $4,000 win bonus) def. Jorge Gurgel $10,000

Jeremy Stephens $16,000 ($8,000 + $8,000 win bonus) def. Rafael dos Anjos $4,000

    Mark Bocek $18,000 ($9,000 + $9,000 win bonus) def. Alvin Robinson $7,000

    Matt Brown $16,000 ($8,000 + $8,000 win bonus) def. Ryan Thomas $3,000

All bonuses awarded were in the amount of $60,000. The total base payroll for the event, which drew a near-record gate of $4,800,000, was $1,118,000.

has anyone compiled a list of the PPV numbers for MMA events over the years? I have done it for boxing... will post it here if anyone is interested. But i know it is harder to keep track of the MMA events due to UFC's gayness. Anyone have a list?

My interest for MMA is growing now and my interest for boxing is declining. In boxing we now have fights like DLH vs Pacman.

Yep, sad. Like I just worked out today, the average age of the top 10 P4P is 33. And there's nobody coming through. I this wee internet clique we've had going the last 10 years or so might have been here as witness to the last days of boxing.

The UFC does there best to not go public and make numbers official. Why? It's easier to rip off the fighters that way.

These numbers can't be legit. Randy and Brock didn't make 1 million between them?

Seriously. And then you read stuff like 70% of our fighters have a college degree or a professional education. Bernard Hopkins might not have finished highschool, but at least he knows how to get paid. These guys are a bunch of morons.

The UFC is the most succesful MMA groups in the world, and one of very few that hasn't folded or is actually paying their fighters.

They must be doing something right.

Also, it's not like the fighters aren't aware of what they're gonna get paid when they sign the contract.

Just more bitching for the sake of bitching.

Nobody said the UFC aren´t doing it right, but the fighters are, when they get paid $800K total for a (successful) PPV main event heavyweight championship. Wlad and Povetkin stand to make $12 million for a non PPV fight.

To me that says a lot more about how bad boxing is if they'll pay that kind of money for a shit fight like that. Plus, the fact that boxing overpays their main eventers is the biggest reason why there hasn't been a half way decent undercard on a PPV since Tyson was locked up.

Trust me, if the UFC started paying thier fighters like elite boxers, the sport would be over as we know it.

I can see the point, but when the fighters aren´t even get paid 1/4 of the livegate, let alone the 800K PPV buys, they are underpaid fools.

How is Wlad vs. Povetkin a shit fight? Two gold medalists fighting for the heavyweight championship. Last time that happened was over 30 years ago.

UFC could make their fighters eat shit and you would defend it. Its criminal how they underpay their fighters.

They pay them better than fair market value for an MMA fighter.

And more importantly, those who are fighting for the UFC are certain that they will get paid, they know they have opportunities to collect bonuses, and they know that the UFC will be around in the future. No other MMA group can say that.

I don't see what the problem is.

WHAT Market, TFK???:dunno:...MMA HASN'T Been Around Looooooooooong Enough to Base it's Pay Scales Off of Other MMA Fighters & Organizations...

Didn't Tim Sylvia Make like $800,000 to Take a 30 Second Ass Whipping from Fedor???...That's More than Lesnar & Couture Made COMBINED, yet REED is Pretty Sure the Lesnar-Couture PPV OUTSOLD the Fedor-Sylvia PPV...

UFC Fighters R CRIMINALLY UNDERpaid...There's NO 2 Ways about it, Especially when U Factor N PPV Sales, Live Gate, Merchandising & Endorsements...The Salaries of MMA Fighters R NOT Commensurate w/the BOOM N the POPULARITY of the Sport...

FAIR "Market Value" would Pay ELITE MMAists the Same as ELITE BOXERS....The Money IS There, it's just Lining the Pockets of the WRONG People...

The managers of the UFC's fighters are the owners of the company themselves, Dana and the Fertittas. Go figure.
Also, many fighters in the UFC are fighting for their jobs. Werdum took a loss last month, the UFC decided to cut his contract salary by 50%...........Werdum is now gone! Others have been terminated. More to come.
Bottom line is, if you can't get the intoxicated UFC fans to cheer for you, you are HISTORY.

Uhm....no! The UFC has a system where they can terminate your contract if you lose a fight. That's how their policy works. No employee is settled into their job. These fighters know they can get the boot at anytime the UFC pleases.

    ......

The problem with a guy like TFK is he can't see there IS a middle ground. Sure, these main event guys don't have to make 5-10 million a fight. They should however be making anywhere from 1-3 million a fight (before bonus's). The revenue level of the UFC EASILY allows it. Basically everyone should make 4 to 8 times what they make and the UFC payscale is a complete and utter joke. Meanwhile the suits are making ridiculous money.

I don't think TFK has read up on the interviews of many of the fighters in the UFC, specifically Couture, Ortiz, Koscheck, Sylvia, Arlovski, and Huerta. They've all said it. The UFC is stealing from its fighters.

TFK is a TUF noob. What the f*ck would he know? Just as long as he's got his beer and hotdog in hand, he's set.
The bottom line is, the fighters on average are making THE SAME money today as they made before the boom in interest. Today there are mega millions coming in and yet the fighters in total barely get a million amongst them, despite the sales and revenue being through the roof.
The FBI needs to investigate the UFC in my opinion.
