I wasn't interested earlier in this fight because I figured Pavlik would brutalize Williams. I'm not so sure anymore. Though I'd probably like to see Paul against a legitimate Top 10 Middleweight first.

Williams should take it easy, and fight the champs at 154lbs. No need to jump another weight division so soon. He should get his hands full with santos and dzinzirirukuk

I'm a believer. Paul Williams is a freak of nature.

I've said from day one, that this 'tiny little welterweight' would do perfectly well at 160,..and maybe just maybe, his rangey heavyweight frame will have a little something to do with it?

My opinion hasnt changed. Pavlik stops him. Tall Paul is too easy to hit.

i dunno, not sure how strong Williams would be at 160, but i see it as a hard fight to call......this one was being talked about a few months ago....before Williams stepped up from 147, and before Pavlik got schooled.......almost everyone but me was rubishing the idea......

Pavlik clearly is at his best at 160 lbs and I don't think Williams can hold him off. Pavlik wins a commanding decision

I wouldn't pick him over Pavlik, but I'd like to go on record and say I'm a huge Paul Williams fan. Rarely does a fighter come back from a loss the way Williams has in a single year.... I'm loving the way he fights right now.

tony's gonna have an easy night with old time mosley, command parity+ in a rematch with cotto, and then make williams wished he stayed at 154.

not sure people realize how close margarito/williams I was.

Pavlik wins a clear fight with Williams, and I'd still pick Williams to beat anyone at 154 or 147 right now. No fight is easy for him, but every fight (including the one with Pavlik) is winnable because he has so many facets to his game. He can punch for volume, punch for (some) power, and does not shut down when he's hit or when he's on the inside.

It was VERY close. I had it 7-5 Williams. I'd love to see a rematch, wouldn't you?

yeah. disappointing that tony isn't more urgent about avenging the defeat. the ironic part is that if williams, should there be a rematch, does not revert back to his high volume style of not stepping down more on his punches, he will fair far worse in the rematch (i.e. he's not knocking tony out; if he intends to win he needs to out-work him).

what's amazing about williams is that despite his height and frame, his chin seems about as sturdy s tony's.

    it's a crime if we're deprived a tony/williams rematch.

how about cotto/williams? how's that play out?

Agree with you on everything. If they gave me some kind of power and I could make one fight in boxing right now I'd seriously consider Margarito/Williams II at 147. In fact that's probably the fight I would go with, although I maintain that Pacquiao/Valero is my dream match.

Williams can take a punch, that's for sure. He also has pretty significant stamina advantages over Cotto. That's another fight I would pay to watch.

Williams would whip Cotto and I have said this FOR YEARS!!It is funny how certain gay posters called me "shits and giggles" and I am calling it.It won't be competetive. Williams by tko in 12 or wide, wide ud.

i think it'd still be a compelling fight. williams is less mobile than tony making him more susceptible to cotto's body assault. plus, williams doesn't "punch on the run" the way tony does. i agee williams wins but it wouldn't be easy - no way.

in terms of throwing punches while moving forward, yes. ask foreman. it's a rare ability but in many cases a fight-changing ability if a fighter can throw while stepping forward:

    Golota
    Margrito
    Lewis

In that sense Tony is more mobile than Williams.

True Steven,.. fortunately for Paul however he was granted the oppurtunity for revenge, had it not been granted, it would be,.. Ah ha ha, Paul Williams, who is Margarito's father, got beat by Cotto's son!...as it were,.. but thankfully...Margarito was given a nice little oppurtunity of his own:crafty:.

Paul Williams And Antonio Margarito,... not bad for a pair of IRRELEVANTS as of 2006..

Williams and Margarito should fight about 8 times. Noody at 147 is in their stratosphere.

    :lol::lol:

That's not called being mobile, that's called being able to throw while stepping forward, or not needing to set your feet to punch.

Mobility is how easily and quickly a fighter can move around the ring - and Tall Paul is far more mobile than Marge.

Also I'm interested to know how no being as capable as Marge to throw punches while moving foward is gonna get him more tagged with Cotto's right hand...

Cotto lost one single fight, and now everyone (even guys he has destroyed already) would butcher him.
