Chris Arreola: "I deserve all the criticism for coming in at 258lbs"

Well, that's why he's open to a lot of criticism IMO. I have seen Arreola other times and thought his handpseed wasn't that bad. He's always easy to hit but he had some handspeed. Last night his hands looked slow as hell. His extra weight obviously slows him down. People say it's no big deal to look fat but the truth is it is effecting his performance so it is a big deal. I agree he is fun to watch though.

 

Mmmm no. His problem is not the physique but the fact that he looked like a lesser version of Sam Peter in there. He was very easy to hit, his punches were easy to see and I am not sure if I have ever seen him throw a good jab. Sure, if this way of fighting does produce him big victories, then there is nothing wrong with it, but right now I just don't see it happening. I do think Sultan Ibragimov would be too good for him

 

This type of criticism you give, I totally agree with.
And I have all of his fights that has been televised on tape...and he has tons of potential...when he gets off, he throws like a lightweight, with good speed and in combos...looks like the next big thing...but the guy just falls in love with eatin....he better take the next guy seriously.

 

True...last night...I agree, but what I hate is, after one bad performance...everyone thinks he has no skills, and forgetting all his other fights...

What I hate is, people who assume you haven't seen much of a fighter if you happen to see them in a different light.

So clearly, it's not just aesthetic, it's affecting his performance. You admit it yourself.

I couldn't give a shit how podgy he is, he's simply not very good. Sam Peter is fat and ugly, but that's not the reason I didn't rate him. I didn't rate him because he sucks.

Same with Areola.

 

Well instead of sayin, his extra weight is slowing him down, he doesn't look as good as a fight with the extra weight.

And if you have seen him a lot then cool, but if you have then you can honestly say that he is a lot better of a fighter than what he was last night.

 

Povetkin doesn´t have a great physique, or for god´s sake throw in Sinan Samil Sam. Sam basically looked like Arreola for every fight and he could go forward for twelve rounds stopping punches with his head and hitting air. It´s not the looks, it´s how it effects his performance and last night he was a sitting duck and lucky Walker is chinless and fought reckless.

 

Why are people saying "Arreola would not beat the Klits but would beat every other Heavyweight".....really? base on what? He hasn't even face a top 10 heavy as of date...:dunno:..SHIT he hasn't face a past their prime top 10-15-20 Heavyweight...

He hasn't face a Ray Austin....Friday Ahunanwhatever...Boswell...Kevin Johnson.....McCline..Z. Lawrence...D. Guinn...Meehan....fuck fight a motherfucking Monte Barrett...

I don't think I learned anything new about Arreola last night. I've seen him look better and I've seen him look worse. That WAS the best puncher he'd been in with however and he looked anything but invulnerable...which is what he needs to be if he's going to compete with the big dogs.

This is hilarious. I think that his combos are very slow and lumbering. Hes more of a mauler ala Peter than anything.

 

Take a look at his earlier fights...that is what I am talking about...do that...and then you won't think that post is hilarious.

 

Cancer, you are out of your mind. Chris Arreola fucking sucks. he has no potential and no future as anything other than a hype job. I would say at least he will make money, but he eats 4 times his weight in food. I guess he will have to rely on his matinee idol looks. Therefore, he has nothing to look forward too. He should retire before he gets skilled. He was almost stopped by literally a club fighter.

I hate Wlad with a passion but.... he'd be up on murder charges if he fought Asseola.

 

Arreola = today's version of Joe Hipp + a bit more punching power.


Sadly....in today's heavyweight division, because of his power...he is still dangerous, albeit limited and verrry average skillwise.

 

Arreola is nothing special as far as I can see.
It's also obvious that he is heavier than he should, be & that xtraweight is a dissadvantage to him. It's amazing that anyone should argue that point.

Arreola hasn't face anyone worth a damn.....he hasn't face any of the yesteryears top 10-20 heavy's like Povetkin has...shit he has face the usual guys heavy would face moving up the ranks...guys like the Friday guy...or Ray Austin...Barrett....McCline...Dominick Guinn....Michael Grant..Zuri Lawrence... nothing..nada.....

I give Arreola props for giving an excitement performance. He was getting his ass kicked and turned it around and stopped the guy.

Arreola's conditioning is fucking terrible. Is not like he let himself go. I'ts more like he needs to really get in fucking shape.

The guy is young, undefeated, and has the Mexican crowd rooting for a Heavyweight which is rare.

Arreola is nothing special but he has those things going for him it would stupid for him to get stoped on his tracks for being an out of shape idiot.

 

Look i know arreola is limited at least defensively but povetkin is slow moving oaf with equally bad defense and chris is proven tough

 

Povetkin stops Arreola 10 out of 10 times. Fuck, that fatass might not beat fat Eddie Chambers. Did you miss the fight on Saturday? He lost as many minutes as he won against a club fighter.

 

He also picked himself up and changed the fight with one punch. What I saw on Saturday is someone out of shape and focus be able to absorb bombs without being hurt and send back some vicious combos

 

ok now I know I said this guy was "hot garabage" last night and all but some people in this thread are making some points, I still dont think he has a chance in hades to beat either Klit but there are other people within the top ten he can defeat on sheer punch output alone...id like to see him up against the likes of a John Ruiz, Valuev, Calvin Brock, Hasim Rahman, Samuel Peter, JC Gomez, Andrew Golota to name a few guys then assess his future but two guys if you are management you keep him away from at all cost as far as contenders are concerned are James Toney and David Haye...I wouldnt risk him getting a bad L agaisnt those guys...

 

He was getting outboxed and out slugged by a club fighter. There is no light or perspective once could take and come away without the obvious conclusion that Arreola is at best 1 hour old dog shit on sidewalk on a cool fall morning.

But I wish a prime, motivated Tua was around. The late 90's Tua would have knocked Asseola's head into the cheap seats. Hell, even David was actually motivated today, I STILL think he would fuck up Asseola.
