I've probably watched a combined total of a couple minutes of the TC and TNGC (outside of the live finales).

I might give this season a try though, if, as Danza says, they're going to be focusing more on just the boxers.

They said the same thing for season 2 and 3.

Knowing a few of the boxers personally, I'll keep track but probably won't watch religiously. Plus, the results sounded like it could be interesting.

I don't know why I thought it started tomorrow rather than tonight. I guess because I really don't give a shit.

Last season was probably the most fun (especially the finale), but it's quite obvious that the series will never become more than a journeyman's paradise.

Actually, with less dates to go around, I wouldn't be surprised if next season's show features some good prospects really in need of exposure....that is, if there is a next season.

I'm actually looking forward to the replacement of the slow and robotic SRL to the high on caffene Tony Danza.

yeah i agree that SRL no longer appearing in front of the camera was a good move on their part.

Brooks and Bray as trainers might help spice things up as well. At the very least, they should provide better sound bytes than Drink That Water Baby.

If you ask me, they should have focused more on the trainers and have them essentially be the narrators of the show.

I'm glad that this was posted. Now I can just skip through Versus when I'm flipping through channels at that time instead of stopping for a few seconds to find out what's on.

Do you not have a program guide on your TV?

Versus is rarely one of the channels I flip to to see what's on.

what else is on VERSUS? I know they show hockey and MMA, and neither really interest me. To be honest, not much of their boxing telecasts have me rearranging my Thursdays either, though next week is certainly an exception.

I'm the same way with Telefutura. I'm clueless as to what else they air beyond Friday 7-9PM (CT), and will be even more so after Dec 19

I don't know much that's on Versus outside of what you listed and college football, which I think is primarily the Mountain West conference.

I have seen some bull riding on there.

Did it used to be the Outdoor Life Network? If so, probably has the Tour de France...and I'd guess fishing and hunting.

I think they got some show called Sports Soup, which is the sports version of Talk Soup. Apparently it's pretty good.

I didn't like it. It's the same format that's failed on two networks so far, and they didn't change a thing.

What the fuck was up with the audio? Danza would be talking to the fighters, then they cut to a close shot of the fighters, and there's a voice over of Danza as if he's actually saying that to the fighters. It was so poorly done. Who are they trying to kid with that? It made the show seem so low budget as if I edited it on Windows Movie Maker.

To top it off, once the fight came, it was even worse. Sure, they intensified and showed in slow motion missed blow after missed blow, but what was up with the fake crowd noise?

First, there was the same generic crowd scream that comes with every new purchase of Microsoft Windows as one of their sample audio clips. Then, at some points, the crowd sounded WILD, but if you look, not a single person is even smiling. It was pathetic.

Oh, and the "we're focusing more on the fighters" comment that was made before the season started....yeah, that's probably because they couldn't afford to fly out their families to China.

There's so much to offer with 16 different boxing personalities, yet they fail miserably.

... they've said the same thing at the start of each season. But yeah, last night was easily the worst season premiere among the four seasons. I didn't watch the whole episode, just because none of it held my interest.

The only reason I watched it was based on Cliff's review. I figured, OK he liked it (well, gave it a 7 out of 10), and it involved mostly American cruiserweights, about 85 lb north and 9000 miles East of his preferred weight class. So if he was entertained, there was vaule to to be found.

Cliff and I need to talk... although maybe he was drawn in by the show taking place in Singapore?

Oh, and here's exactly what will happen next week...

The fighters are featured in a group and Tony Danza speaks to them all about the previous fight. Cora either goes up to the board and moves his name forward, or smiles as he sees his name advanced. Then Danza gives some cheesy "b" movie deep knowledge to the fighters.

The fighters comment about the fight. They show Cora feeling good.

Then they train. And the fighters talk about eachother either in a good way or a bad way. A possible next fight is foreshadowed here.

Back at the house, some fighters jab at eachother a little bit and you're meant to feel that there is some serious drama unfolding.

They feature one fighter who talks about what it's like back home. They talk about his family and either show a picture or show him on the phone.

They cut to more crap about nothing. Then they might show another fighter talk about his family for thirty seconds or so.

Fighters comment about who will fight who and their thoughts on the way things are playing out on the brackett.

Time to pick a fight. The blue team wants to decide, but they find it a bit difficult, while the weakest member of the gold team is either worried that he's not in tip top shape for a fight or he's confident that he'll emerge victorious despite being the underdog.

The fighters are selected in a boring segment that is edited to seem extremely intense. (That area of the house/set looks like they haven't even finished constructing it) There's the possibility of a bit of a surprise.

Then the fighters sit in their locker rooms by themselves. There is also a voice over of them talking about the fight, who their fighting for, what they're fighting for, etc.... The trainer comes in and gives advice which the fighter doesn't seem interested in.

They walk out towards the ring. It's the same damn ring walk in every episode of every season. Empty hallway with lights above. They slam through the doors to the crowd.

The fight starts...it's a "highlight reel" although it's not very exciting. The music is playing throughout and it's made to intensify the action. You get pumped for something because the music is reaching a cresendo, but the punch comes and it's nothing special. This happens multiple times throughout. In the corner, the trainer says stuff and gives words of encouragement that trainers never say (Unless it's Atlas and Morrer in the corner).

The fight ends. One fighter wins while the other loses. The losing fighter is featured mostly. He sits in the dark talking about what he lost and how it will affect him. He also talks about how he will come back. The winner talks a bit about how happy he is.

    The end.

    "Next week on the contender..."

But Having Watched a Few Seasons of "Ultimate Fighter", "The Contender" PALES N Comparison (Just as Bob N' Weave Told REED it Would)...REED Can't Quite Put his Finger on it, but the Shows COULDN'T B More Different, N Terms of Entertainment Value...
