Cutting that much weight at this age is completely lethal - what Roy could do under these circumstances by edging out a win is really totally unbelievable.

    Most talented fighter OAT

Oscar holds the distinction of being a popular fighter who lost every superfight he was in...he's boxing's Buffalo Bills.

    What about Vargas?

Or does that not count because Tito "ruined" him?

.....they are very different circumstances....but both scenarios go to show just how damaging it is to make a weight that conflicts with the capabilities of your body

......Hatton on british tv very quickly remakered on the weight issue and how DLH was only a couple of pounds off the weight for quite some time.....to only put in 2 or 3lbs from weigh in to fight night is highly unusual for the average fighter, let alone someone who is coming down in weight.......he fucked it up

It's a shame that a great fight inevitably gives rise to such crap threads...

How was that a great fight you clown... Old ass DLH got beat the fuck up and couldn't do shit in the process. You're on crack if you think that weight didn't play a role here.

I think DLH completely misjudged his body by coming in that low and staying that low. He shoulda just cut it and rehydrated back to 160 he would have been more competitive.

It is the right time to address this. Roy bashers get away with using it wayyy too much.

You're right, it wasn't a "great fight" I guess I used the wrong term there, but it was remarkable, given that DLH was favoured & that he took a career-worse beating.
I actually mentioned in a couple of threads prior that I was concerned about the weight loss.
I just think the loss was more the result of an old fighter with slowing reflexes getting beat up by a guy @ the peak of his powers. I don't think the DLH we saw against PBF would have fared much better against Pac-man.

And this is a crap thread because trying to twist this fight into somehow "enhancing RJJ's legacy" is gratuitous. He is one of the most excused fighters ever. In the interest of not encouraging any more gratuitous RJJ connections that's the last I'll say about it.
    Move on...

You're probably right. Let me just nuthug Roy a little here because i think there is really some validity in that weight issue.

I wasn't all that serious with the thread title but since that was a running gag on here... :cheer:

    Wow.
    Respect to you His_Royness.
I really wasn't expecting such a sensible reply.

    I obviously didn't pick up on the "tounge-in cheek-ness"

Maybe it's because i'm german very few understand me... :eek:ld:
