Obviously Oscar would be hard pressed to beat anyone without actually throwing punches...so who could he have beaten? possibly if he was in there with Malignaggi who also doesn't throw punches now...so he maybe he could have beaten Paulie last night I think
is it possible that is low punch-count was, at least in part, to Pacquiao, and what he was doing? the better question is: "Who would have beaten Pacquiao last night?"
I don't know but Pacquiao sure's hell did a better job beating ODH than PBF did. There's no argument there. PBF is notorious for berforming badly against south-paws. And I don't think PBF could hurt Pacquiao - Pacquiao doesn't make the stupid mistakes that Hatton does. It's a moot point though because after last night my guess is PBF wants nothing to do with Pacquiao or any other welter-weight who's in his prime for that matter.
So it's a fight you would like to see, you see it as even and you would give Floyd props if he makes it and even more if he wins?
yeah. the amount of credit i'd give him would be dependent on how PBF wins, and of course on how closely constested the fight was. but if Oac won, hhowever, he won, he'd get more credit since he's fighting so far removed from his ideal weight class.
Pacquioa beats nobody of any significance at welterweight, but he might do okay at 140,.. ..if Pacquioa was right handed Id pick Hatton,..but he's a southpaw and Hatton's too dumb to handle them. Bradley is the best at 140 anyway. Pacquioa may have fought a bigger fighter, (not as big a size difference as I thought there would be)... but that's about it,..that was his challenge, a staminaless scrub with a bit of size,... but people are acting as if he's just annihilated Margarito or somethin'...??
he showed durability, speed, punching power, and foot-work that he carried all the way up from flyweight. i don't think you can discount that as a pretty massive accomplishment.
No no no no no...I dont give credit to fighters who 'started' at weights that they're unable to maintain for 3 seconds,.. Guillermo Jones as a 154lb'er?,.. I remember watching a Pacquioa fight in one of those lower weights,.. and he was virtually KO'd by a jab..... he deserved it too, for being a 'pufferfish bully'.
A few guys between 140-147..Collazo..Malignaggi...Witter...mostly guys at 140... It wasn't just about throwing punches..Pacquiao speed/power/aggressiveness/footwork was wat fucked DLH... DLH would not initiate the exchanges(don't know why he was the bigger guy/maybe shotness)..would wait for Pac to attack..was not able to counter..got fucked..
Here's the thing that kills me is that so many people failed to give PBF credit for beating DLH. All we heard was that PBF on beat an old part-time fighter. That being said the DLH that fought PBF would have done better against Pac-man. I'll Holla 5000
A kinda agree..Mayweather did not have the benefit of fighting dlh in a weight that made pollo weaker...for years DLH dictated when/where/what weight the fight would take place...he fought Trinidad right when he couldn't make 147 for much longer..then Mosley in his 2nd fight at Welter..Hops at 157..etc..Pacquiao outsmarted him..... However Mayweather didn't have to jump from 130/35 to 147 to fight DLH over night..he had time to adjust by fighting at 140/147 way before having to fight DLH...
didn't Roach say that Ivan Calderon KO'd Oscar in sparring? could he have also beat Oscar the other night?
Had Mayweather looked like this doing it, then perhaps he would have gotten more credit. Or had the disparity in size been as big.
well, not only can you argue that the ODH who faced PBF was better, but PBF beat ODH by the skin of his teeth. that's why he doesn't get the credit that Pacquiao does who gave ODH the worst beating of his career. it's not always about if you win or not. sometimes the manner in which a fighter wins is taken into account in the accolades he gets for his performance.
