I'd be pretty confident of Manny beating Floyd.

Floyd hasn't looked good in years.

When has he ever dominated a TOP opponent? Once - against Chico.

Floyd looked shit against Oscar, shit against baldomir, and didn't really look all that against Zab either, and Zab fucking sucks.

Zab is the only fighter Floyd has ever faced that has faster hands, and that alone made him struggle against Zab.

Pacman is faster than Floyd, not only that but can move a LOT, is incredibly agile, has excellent head movement, has unpredictable attacking patterns, and if anyone's punch is like a lazer, it's Manny's straight left.

Especially given Floyd's inactivity, Pacman would decision him.

He just did that in his last fight against Hatton, who I think would mug Pac.

Your Pacmania is going too far, even more than when you were going crazy about Morales. :eek:ld:

I think a Pac-Hatton matchup could be quite interesting. Obviously Manny is faster, but there other things to look at. Hatton is very quick at closing the distance. He even surprised Mayweather with how quickly he could get inside. Although Pacquiao has improved quite a bit he still doesn't like fighting going backwards. Let's see if Ricky can force his style of fight on Manny.

Yep, and I'm positive Hatton would do just that. He'll take some vicious heat, I'm sure of that. But he'll keep coming and rough Manny up getting the best of the inside fighting.

This is correct, and I don't think Pac has the strength to handle Hatton inside the way Mayweather did. That was actually the key to Floyd's win there. Even he couldn't stop Hatton's rushes until the end but he could more than hold his own at close. I am not sure Pac could

Judah, as much of a fuck up and choker as he may be, was faster and more athletic than Manny. Stop overrating Manny's speed! Prior to last night, theres NONE here that would be saying that Manny is faster than Floyd, now suddenly everyone believes it.

And in the Judah fight, Zab went into a shell and just started trying to survive once Floyd began hammering him, which is the ONLY reason Zab lasted the distance(and the LB). Manny wont go into a shell, he'll fight back, which will only give Floyd more openings.

I guess the obvious is that his best chance is against Hatton.

If Floyd doesn't come back in '09 for a fight w/ Pac, then he's undoubtedly never coming back. Though that said, if he does come back, he should consider fighting Margarito more so than Manny.

Margaritos the one fight I absolutely don't see Manny taking. Floyd regaining his spot atop the welterweight division would allow him to make the financial demands that would undoubtedly come with any hopes of putting him in with Pacquiao.

Right now, it's inconceivable for Tony to demand a 50/50 split against Floyd, though he's certainly more popular now than ever before in his career. Plus, anything short of Floyd demanding 100% of the pie, Tony would still be looking at no less than 5x his career high payday, including what he stands to make against Shane and a potential Cotto rematch.

I say that because I could see a Pac-Floyd fight at least a year to sort out at the negotiating table.

And all that is IF Floyd decides to return, which for the moment still remains unlikely.

Great post, all true... Pac is not that fast he is accurate as all hell and he has great fucking great economy of movement. He looks like a Thai fighter in his economy of motion along his fighting line frankly....

Pac is in reality a technically accomplished fighter, I give him all the credit in the world for it

Floyd lost 4-5 rounds against Judah. And was troubled by Zab's Speed, and left hand.

Mayweather's probably gonna wait to see if Hatton can beat Pacquiao, then call for a rematch if he does.

Manny is extremely fast, I've been saying so for years.

And Floyd's speed is overrated. The prime welterweight Mosley was MUCH faster than Floyd is at welterweight, or even 140.

Floyd sure is sharp, and sure is slick, but he has never been exceptionally fast, even at 130 pimpslapping guys like Manfredy, he looked great, and looked fast, but his speed wasn't unreal like some seemed to think.

I'm not overrating Manny's speed, I would have told you Manny was faster than Floyd a year ago.

Look at how fast they both looked against Oscar.

Zab is NOT faster than Manny. The Zab of old might have been able to match manny for handspeed, but certainly not footspeed, movement, head movement, and reaction speed.

Honestly, I thought the idea of Manny beating Oscar was more preposterous than Manny beating Floyd. Not because Oscar is better than either of them, simply bigger and more powerful.

I just thought it was only a matter of time before Oscar caught Manny with a clean left hook. Well, he actually did catch Manny clean with the odd left hook, and fuck all happened.

X, watch Floyd's last fight, and Manny's last fight, and tell me that Floyd is faster. You won't be able to, because he isn't.

V10 - Hatton is not a top opponent at 147. Not only that but it was not a domination. A convincing win - yes - but not a complete domination.

WTF? How did Floyd NOT struggle with Judah? It was his toughest fight since Castillo 1. He ended up taking over, but at the halfway point, Judah was ahead in the fight, and like Jaws said - floyd was struggling with Zab's speed and left hook.

Again, losing the fight at the halfway point, how is that NOT struggling?

  14. Mitchell Kane

Mitchell Kane WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

If that's struggling, then Pacquiao's had a lot more struggles than Mayweather in his career.

Judah looked on the verge of being stopped before the foul-induced riot. Mayweather is often a better second-half fighter.

MWS Even if we agreed on Manny being faster (He's not) what you're overlooking is how much stronger and skillful inside Floyd is. Nobody has ever pushed him around, he knows his way inside and out and he would handle Pacquiao, hope we can see.

I ll let other posters explain that to you Mex. Your idea of struggle is suspect.

I agree about Floyd's speed beign overrated. Pacquio is more technically accomplished than a speed freak though. You studied Thai boxing... Pacman's got the economy of motion and movement that a lot of those guys do... I mean he can come in and move out on a line faster than virtually any fighter I have seen maybe with the exception of a prime Hatton.

Dude you might be one of a few people that realizes this aboutFloyd it is virtually never brought up: He is strong. He has been taught to use leverage balance and he has the physical strength to control almost anyone in the trenches. Just ask Hatton

Manny is faster. Just look at them both against Oscar, and tell me Floyd is faster.

Floyd is stronger though, without a doubt. That's one thing that's always been underrated about Floyd, his physical strength.

His punching power is OK, it's probably rated correctly.

  19. V10

    V10 Undisputed Champion

Yep. He's the only fighter so far who was able to nullify Hatton on the inside and get the better off the clinches. He's so calm and relaxed in there, you get the feeling he really knows what he's doing, he never panics.

So Darrell, Zab was winning the fight at the halfway point, Floyd clearly bothered by his left cross and handspeed. How is that NOT struggling?

I know by the end of the fight Floyd certainly WASN'T struggling, he took over, just like every other top fighter Zab has fought, but watch the first half of the fight, Floyd struggled, and was losing the fight.

Did Floyd also not struggle with Castillo?
