Anyone else feel a little bit sorry for ODLH?

Okay yeah, Oscar is going to bank $30 million minimum for this fight, but besides that, did anyone else feel a little bit bad for Oscar in the 8th round when his corner, the doctor, and the ref were basically trying to find a way to make Oscar say "I quit", but he just sat there silent without any response.

Then at the post-fight interview, Oscar looked on the verge of tears during some of the responses when talking to Merchant. It all had a very solemn feel to it. I've always rooted for Oscar in every other fight besides this one, and I respect him as a fighter and what he's done for boxing.

Even though I was excited and proud to see Manny triumph last night, it was a little heart breaking to see Oscar reduced to that. :dunno:

I will say, though, that I don't think he's really wanted to fight for a while.

If he wasn't still a draw and wasn't a promoter, I think he'd have retired a while ago and been happy with that.

But when everybody wants him to fight top names and carry the sport to the general public, and he can make himself a cool $20-30 million to do so, I do think - to a degree - that he has actually sucked it up a bit and fought...granted he was getting paid and still looked like he was going through the motions, but he still put his name on the line and went through the training camps and fought some of the best.

I've rarely seen such a pathetic way of ending a career, especially for a fighter of DLH's class. Yeah, I felt a bit sorry for him. But at the same time, and a lot of posters have already said that, it was well deserved.
