The few time oscar did throw punches

he somewhat hurt pac. But pac knew how to use his footwork to get out of situations like that. Pac had too much speed for oscar, just like hopkins had too much speed for pavlik.

I dont even know if I buy this as being legit

IMO DLH did not really put up a fight

he didn't need a dream team corner, or a boxing plan..

he needed to be very aggressive and wing left hooks and he didnt.. he took a beating.. but did he take a dive?

Well, the key with a fighter like Pacquiao is hitting him on his way in, but DLH wasn't able to do that much with the jab.

Roach spent some time talking about DLH's left shoulder before the fight...something that's been a problem for him for years.

Well, depends on if the Hatton Pacquiao is a done deal and if it's a profitable enough fight for Hoya to take a beating and drop his stock considerably in the process.

I've seen weight drained fighters before, and you see their legs are not there, and when they take a punch, they get all wobbly and shit. But I can't equate being weight drained with being gun shy. Oscar didn't throw, and that's strange. He was fast enough and had the size advantage to keep Pacquiao at bay.

I think winging jabs would've been a better idea than winging hooks.

But he didn't really do either. The punches he did throw out there were easily controlled by Pac.

I haven't seen the fight yet...was at my lady's office xmas party, and I thought it would be a blowout in favour of Oscar and so I had little interest to be honest. But now that I know that Pac won I can't wait to see the fight.

Anyway...since I haven't seen it yet I can't give a concrete answer on whether De La Hoya tried or not...but I do seem to remember that Oscar is rather uncomfortable facing the southpaw stance. I saw that against Sweet Pea and I saw it on teh few occasions that Shane switched-hit. There was another fight as well but I can't remember who.

Anyway...it's possible that IF Pac brought his speed and power up with him...as it seems from what I've read that he did...then Oscar would certainly not have had an answer to that style after a few rounds. So it wouldn't be a matter of not trying, per se, it would be a matter of not knowing how to solve it.
