Below are pretty much all of the so-called experts in boxing who picked Dela Hoya to beat Pacquiao. :notallthere: David Avila, Riverside Press-Enterprise Tim Dahlberg, Associated Press Tim Smith, New York Daily News Dan Rafael, ESPN.com George Willis, New York Post Kevin Iole, Yahoo.com Lance Pugmire, Los Angeles Times Chris Mannix, SI.com John Whisler, San Antonio Express-News Graham Houston, Fightwriter.com Manuel Perez, Boxingnews24.com Floyd Mayweather Sr. Roger Mayweather Jeff Mayweather Antonio Margarito Paul Williams Marco Antonio Barrera Juan Manuel Marquez Erik Morales Steve Forbes Nate Campbell Tommy Hearns Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. Paulie Malignaggi Ricky Hatton Roy Jones Jr. Vernon Forrest Derrick Gainer Joel Casamayor Dan Goossen Lou DiBella Artie Petullo Mike Tyson Leon Margules Kassim Ouma Verno Phillips Winky Wright Antonio Tarver Secondsout.com: Clive Bernath Gregory Juckett Michael Norby Mark Butcher Jerry Glick Juan Pablo Manfredi Sean Waisglass James Smith Harry Rosenbluth Craig Phillips Mike Sloan Jason Pribila Lwazi Ndzobongo Ray Kilgore Ringsidereport.com: Geno McGahee Brian Wilbur Brad Berkwitt Jose Antonio Rivera Eileen Teran Sunset Thomas Mike Withers Vinnie Johnson Dan Hernandez Antonio Santiago Mike Plunkett Daniel Cohen Geoff Poundes Ringtalk.com: Pedro Fernandez Brian Gorman Frances Martel 15Rounds.com: Marc Abrams Michael Swann Norm Frauenheim Johnny Schulz Matt Yanofsky Mario Ortega Jr. Anson Wainwright Thomas Marriott Joon Lee Boxingscene.com: Robert Morales Dave Sholler Cliff Rold Mitch Abramson Bob Cannobio TK Stewart Lyle Fitzsimmons Lem Satterfield Brent Matteo Alderson Michael Doss Alphonso Costello James Blears Joe Harrisson Don Colgan Rick Reeno Doghouseboxing.com: Garth Weaver Ken Hissner Benny Henderson Jr. Barry Mcguigan Debbie Duran Gabriel Montoya Eric Marks Rob Scott
and?.....i don't think it was a case of boxing experts failing to inteperate how the two fighter's ability and styles would match up.....just how much age and weight would have an impact of Oscar's physical capabilites, was what was largely unforeseen
That will make a good new beer commercial. Manny: You picked Oscar? Erik: I was drunk, too much of this delicious beer.
Man that pic is hilarious. Two of my favorite fighters enjoying a brew. Man, I miss Erik Morales, I hope he has a farewell fight.
You know, I'm not sure. I can't think of any major boxing personality besides Teddy Atlas, and ESPN who picked Pacquiao to win. ESPN predicted a stoppage in the 10th, and everyone thought they were stupid for it. :notallthere:
I thought you got a list of who picked who, or did you go and waste all that time looking for who predicted DLH. We already know it's a surprise upset and many people picked DLH.
I only collected the list of people who picked Dela Hoya, though I remember the list of people picking Pacquiao was very, very small. Teddy Atlas was the most notable name on the list.
Only recently. I finished a major milestone at work, so I'm just kicking back. I worked over the weekend, and was on my laptop during Pacquiao-Dela Hoya. Give me a break. ::
so? :dunno: who are your parents...how do we know you like them? you never put in a prediction so you have zero gloating rights :mj:
that does not show much knowledge or expertise, you're just a die hard fan that picks Pacquiao against anybody. Predicting DLH to win was the reasonable choice.
the term expert is thrown around loosely. I haven't seen a worse exaggeration since curious jolex claimed to be physically fit
Rooting for and predicting are two different things. Most on this board were rooting for Manny but picked Oscar. They didn't make that judgement because they were Filipino. Racial/ethnic pride is one thing. Cheer for "your guy" if you want. Gloating on predictions is quite another. All of the people you listed would account for the reasons they made their prediction. Everyone here knows if Oscar KO'd Manny you would not be here posting. To me that's not a boxing fan, but a disgusting flag waiver. Guranteed this board would have been flooded with people if Tito beat Jones. It was meaningless until their horse won. Pacquiao is an awesome fighter. Your bullshit only bring hims down.
yeh Alabama...the fact that you're Filo means shit all i'm Polish...think i never pick against Golota? :atu: you didn't make a pick...you have no gloating rights :hammert:
