Heck yeah. I'd probably cheer for him against every fighter except for Pacquiao or any other pinoy boxer (unless he was too cocky like Naz).

I really wouldn't care... but I can say that I won't root for any of them boring, marginally skilled scrubs that graced India's Olympic squad this year.

You know what confuses me? With now over a billion people (more than 3x the population of the United States), how come India has not had a world class fighter come from the country? Is Boxing just not popular, or are there sleepers I don't know about? :dunno:

It would take 1 good successful indian athlete to get them lazy f*cks into the gym. Somebody has to break through...
Boxing is huge over there but moreso as a club thing as opposed to professional fighting. And it's a poor country and a real shit hole. People probably just trying to find a piece of bread for dinner as opposed to signing up to boxing gyms under world class trainers to become future Pacquiaos.

didnt they win their first ever boxing medal this year? I thought someone on the team won a bronze (don't ask me who it was, I just remember they had a team full of fighters with the surname Kumar)

You know what's funny is that the area where Pacquiao comes from (Visaya), is where my mom was born and raised. That place is beautiful, but very, very poor. To really put a fine point on it, the average daily wage over there is around 300 pesos (about $6 U.S). I mean Pacquiao came from the streets, stealing peoples old cigs to sell for pennies just so he could afford to eat. Let's not even get into Erik Morales' background, he was just as poor in TJ.

The thing is, I believe an upbringing like that makes you tough, fierce, and unbreakable. You fight your way out of there and you never want to go back. That's why Morales and Pacquiao have the fighting styles they have, because in the back of their minds they think that going one step back means going back to being destitute and poor, and they don't want to go back to "that".

So shouldn't India be putting out some of the toughest SOB's on the block right about now?

I missed it all. No idea Jake. Although I don't recall India ever winning any medal at the Olympics this year. An indian won a gold in a different sport. Skeet shooting or something.:dunno:
I know of a Gurcharan Singh who boxed at 2000 Olympics at LH. Here's his boxrec record:

You are right about Pac and Morales. The streets did indeed groom them to a large degree to become the warriors they became.
India though is different. Instead of fighting for their right, they'd rather pray to some elephant god and think God will take care of their problems. They're deeply religious. Some of the guys there are pretty big and powerful, not sure why somebody hasn't come around and acheived something. It doesn't even have to be boxing, I'm talking any sport. Well they do have a cricket team so that's good. We need a team for the football world cup though.

    It was Vijender Kumar.

From what I read at the time, the Indian boxers were very well recieved in India after the Olympics.

If I'm Illuminati I'd want that Indian fighter to be put in his place by a Puerto Rican ofcourse, then I'd ridicule the size of his asian penis.
