What is with all the contempt for Lesnar? I am just wondering, man. No big deal either way, just wondering what most people's problem with Brock is. I have to admit, I kind of like watching him. Could be just from the freak of nature aspect, but I find myself rooting for him. I'm gonna guess its the exact opposite for you, just wondering why.

He was always quick to defend Kimbo too which is strange considering his hate for a much better fighter in Lesnar.

Having dopes as fans who refuse to acknowledge Lesnar's legitimate credentials and ridiculous athletic ability, and only focus on his brief WWE career is bad for MMA.

Sure is. It promts new fans to make threads about how other other WWE guys would do in MMA as if any of them have the wrestling background Lesnar does. *cough* Rainmaker*cough*

Besides Angle of course, who COULD have possibly made the switch years back before his body was totally fucked.

Personally, I just don't like him. He looks like a fat, ugly pig on steroids.

And also, his win WAS bad for MMA.

Just imagine a wing chun guy, having a 2-1 record in boxing, and then beating hopkins :lol:

That is the equivalent, and it makes MMA look pathetic.

I still like, and enjoy MMA (even TUF) - but you have to be a severe groupie not to think his win over Randy makes MMA look like a bit of a joke.

Yeah, that Doesn't Make Much Sense...Lesnar would WHIP Kimbo & Petruzelli N the SAME NIGHT, N LESS than a Round....

If Lesnar was JUST a WWE Guy, REED Could See his Win Over Couture Being BAD for MMA, but Lesnar is MORE than that...He was an ELITE Level Wrestler, Perhaps THE Best Foundation to Have, when Transitioning to MMA...

On Top of that, Lesnar's a TRUE ATHLETE...He Came within 1 or 2 Cuts from SUITING UP w/the Minnesota Vikings on Sundays...On the Lesnar-Couture Countdown Show, it was Revealed the Lesnar had a 30-35 inch Vertical Leap & Ran a 4.5-4.4 40 yd Dash...Dude is a FREAK!!!...

& Not 1nce Did REED Mention Lesnar's STRENGTH, which is UNGODLY...The Guys Hating on Lesnar Act like he Brings NATHAN to the Table, which is Bullshit...It's NOT Like Big Show Joined the UFC & Beat Randy Couture...

Lesner's win is HUGE for MMA. This opens the door for more athletes from Wrestling can come forward.

I enjoy watching lesner and i hope he does well. I dont think there has ever been an athlete like lesner in MMA.

I don't deny that. He is VERY strong, and really does have unusual speed for a man of his massive bulk and build.

But really, he still shouldn't have been able to beat Couture. I thought MMA had advanced more than that.

It would be like a Wing Chun guy, but say a REALLY talented wing chun guy, with super quick hands and ridiculous power, beating hopkins with a 2-1 record in boxing.

It would never happen, boxing is too advanced for something like that to happen.

    ............

Lesnar is a big draw, his win was actually great for the UFC. Yeah it's silly that a guy with a 2-1 record in the UFC is the champ but styles make fights. Lesnar is what Randy is basically except a hell of a lot bigger. Whether these guys are in the MMA or not what they will always be best at is wrestling. Any tecnique advantage Randy had was irrelevant because of the power difference.

REED has No Idea what "Wing Chun" is but Consider This???...How Bout the "Wing Chun" Guy U Described, with a MASSIVE SIZE Advantage Over Hopkins???...

It's NOT Like Couture Got Beaten by an Experienced Guy HIS OWN Size...

Your theory makes no sense, so please stop using it. Randy is no expert in striking. Thats how he got beat. He got caught with a shot. IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE. no matter how good you are.

Wing Chun is hand trapping. Its a form of martial arts. It was Bruce Lee's style before he evolved. Usually the speed is unreal. But had nothing to do with boxing. So the comparison is ridiculous.

regardless, he is a novice to the sport of mma. I realize he is a legit wrestler and a freak of nature, but a 2-1 guy winning the world belt (after getting a shot he did not deserve) left a bad taste in my mouth.

He got a shot he didn't deserve, but he made the most of it and proved he was good enough.

Randy Couture got a title shot for getting knocked the fuck out by Liddell. Nog fought for the title after he beat none other than Heath Herring, the same guy Lesnar beat to get his shot.

If your going to rag on Lesanr for getting an undeserved shot, you better say the same about Randy! At least Brock won his fight previous to his title shot.

What are you talking about? Wing Chin is an art of combat that uses mainly hand techniques, just like wrestling is one factor in MMA.

Couture had a background that could help him in MMA, a wing chun guy has a background that could help him in boxing (hand techniques).

    The comparison is 100% valid.

What you're not getting is boxing IS boxing. There are no other sports involved. MMA is Mixed Martial Arts a combination of any and all martial arts. Of which Wrestling is just about the best base you can have as an MMA fighter. You can be bad at one aspect of MMA and make up for it in another area. You cannot do that in boxing, if you suck at boxing you just suck and you're not going to make it. You can suck at BJJ and still win a MMA fght because there is so much more to it than just that ONE aspect.

It's not ever a fair comparison. Not to mention MMA is an infant in comparison to Boxing which has been around way way longer. Boxing has evolved as much as it's ever going to. Not true with MMA, it's still new.

U're ENTITLED to Do what U Do, but U DEFENDED Kimbo when Other Posters BASHED him...Now, U Seem to B on the "Bashing" Side as it Pertains to Brock Lesnar, Even Though he's CLEARLY a More PROVEN Fighter...

Again, it's YOUR Prerogative to Do what U Wish, but it's a Wee Bit Hypocritical, Homey...Just Sayin...

Wing Chun guys train to throw punches do they not? And boxing is mostly about punching yes? Therefore a wing chun guy, in theory, would have a solid "base" to start boxing. There is nothing wrong with the comparison. Wing Chun guys train to punch, and not get punched. How the fuck is that not a valid comparison?

And in regards to your last paragraph, well that's what it's about really, my point is simply that I thought MMA had evolved enough to now allow something like this to happen.

Like Gatti said, the result just left a bad taste in my mouth in regards to MMA.

    agREED...

During the "Countdown" Show, REED was VERY Impressed by How CORDIAL Lesnar & Couture were w/Each Other...Brock Even Admitted to LIKING Randy, but as he Said, "Come Fightnight, I DON'T Like Randy"...REED has Always been INTRIGUED by the Way Fighters Turn their Contempt & Aggression ON & OFF like a Light Switch...

REED likes the SIMPLICITY of Lesnar...The COMPACT Car his BIG Ass Drives , the Fact that he has a Rather UNspectacular Ranch N an UNspectacular State...& Seeing him Interact w/Fiddy Cent, PRIOR to his Fight w/Couture REALLY Endeared him to REED...

REED Doesn't Get "Asshole" Vibes from Lesnar @ All...But Brother GRAVE is Entitled to his Opinion...

If Roy is a "country bumpkin", I don't know what to call Lesnar. Lesnar is also folding Sable. I don't know how that romance happened.
