I'd favor Abraham for Winky. Williams needs to get his ass back to welterweight and Kessler is too big. I really won't mind any of those fights though.

I like all of the above, but I'd have to see it to believe it.

I think that can be said of any potential Winky Wright.

It's interesting that the names are all (champs) in different divisions...but I guess that's how HBO operates these days.

    My list would be:
    1) Abraham
    2) Williams
    3) Kessler

winky would be foolish to take any of those fights w/o a tune-up. i guess he's looking for a payday.

anyhow, w/o a tune-up, i'd pick him to lose all three. kessler would dominate him.

    ILLUMINATI Roberto Duran

Winky vs. Abraham or Williams....both guys are a bit overated IMO..esp. Abraham...so what they really have vs. a former elite fighter in Winky....

Winky of Taylor/Hopkins fight would beat them both IMO...but who know what winky has left...

and yeah Kessler is toooo big for him...

Doesn't sound like HBO has any desire to see Winky, either.

Kudos to them for not offering him a showcase slot, hopefully it's a sign of things to come for 2008. So far so good with their schedule.

Rumor has it, no PPV's in the 1st quarter, and a major coup if Marquez and Diaz can agree to the best available offer in order to keep their fight on HBO and in February/early March.

winky "could" beat all 3. neither of them are mugging thugs like hopkins. don't judge winky off that fight. hopkins cheated his way to that win.

he's got the chin and defense for abraham.

his jab and size would aggravate williams big-time.

kessler i think would probably beat him but if winky applied enough pressure he could've won.

i wish winky had beaten hopkins - he has a better style to beat sloppy.

Me neither which is why I'm picking Kessler. At least that way hopefully I'll get to see the Winkster get beaten to a pulp. Don't know why I've switched to disliking Winky, but I absolutely have done so.

I havent seen that fight, but I dont believe Hopkins would ever cheat his way to a win, if he did cheat, then why didn't the referee disqualify him?.

Winky is worthy of another shot in a big fight to see what he's got left....i just hope he keeps below 168.....i'd pick him vs Abraham

I'd like to see Williams. Winky would beat him up I think..

Agrobum would be a good fight prolly...

Kessler could be a good fight. He is strong and bigger but Winky is pretty durable and slick.. could be good

I'd like to see him whup Williams though

Honestly, screw Wright. He didn't have to go this route in the first place. This is the second or third time that he's voluntarily put himself on the shelf, and he ain't an oscar level draw. Let him stay on Vs. or some lower tier show first, then maybe he can put himself in a spot to get one of those fights.

But, to answer the actual question, I'd watch Wright vs. Abraham first and foremost. If Wright faced Williams, he'd set a new record for loudest whining after a clear UD loss. He'd probably have only 10% of punches landed on him, but he'd STILL be outlanded in the total fight 100 to 80 because WILLIAMS ALWAYS THROWS.

because 85% of referees are incompetent beneficiaries of nepotism and have no idea what the rules of boxing are, and the fact that holding is illegal.

as a fan of Taylor's, i'm sure you can't condone any penalties levied against fighters for holding, let alone disqualifications.

but that doesn't mean it's not cheating.

in fact, cheating is when you don't get caught for doing something illegal. that's what Hopkins did in that fight. and as long as he's not fighting someone with good hand-speed, that's how he gets it done.

as for Taylor, he has no idea how to fight inside so when his opponent gets close all he does is hold him. that's illegal. but i've never seen him warned for it once. instead, it's viewed naively as having easily out-boxed Lacy.

i can't stand grapplers. they ruin the sport. if you don't have a defense that doesn't consist of holding your opponent, then you shouldn't be a professional boxer in my opinion.

real fighters, imo, should be able to live in the ring with their opponents without having to control them with illegal tactics like grabbing and holding.

i'm not so sure about that. at 168 i could see Wright's pressure and work-rate befuddling Kessler in much the way Calzaghe did. They're both left handed too. Winky's foot-work isn't as good but he'd get close and stay there i think.

Kessler would probably try to fight him the way Taylor did.

Winky isnt as good as Joe period, and Kessler is better than Taylor in every facet of boxing. AND Wright-Taylor was damn near three years ago. I can assure you Winky is no longer the same fighter he was then.

Well said sir,.. ..very soothing, nice to know that I am not the only one, I agree that referees are completely incompetant, and just about everything you said about Hopkins infact,..I was in need of that,.. it was untrue about what you say in regards to the great Jermaine Taylor ofcourse, but like the ying and the yang,..if we're going to expect the good, there must be a bitey or two nipped in..
