who has the better stand up? If Bader does, than he might have the edge, as Bader will dictate weather or not the fight goes to the ground, most likely. If he has good stand up, he should keep it on the feet and try to outstrike the Brazilian, that's his best bet at winning.
Bader has the better stand up it looks like. I'm thinking with both guys being ground guys it will eventually go there. Bader does have good wrestling and might be able to keep it standing though.
I do agree that with both being ground guys this fight is destined at some point to end up there. Bader's problem is he is still a wrestler and when it does go to the ground he does nothing but lay and pray. He doesn't have ground and pound yet, so Vinnie will have his way very, very, easily when it does indeed go to the ground.
I'm on the same page man. Bader needs to keep it standing to win this one, he's way out of his league on the ground. I'm going with Vinny though, I think it will hit the ground at some point.
if it does go to the ground though, bader is really strong, could help in escaping sub attempts, plus the time between the last episode and now im sure hes been beefing up on his standup and sub defense should be good, wither goes to ground with a good wrestler versus a good BJJ guy or stays on the feet the entire time
Do you know how long they have had to train between the finale and their last matches? I'm guessing a month.
If REED Isn't Mistaken, this Season's Cast Watched the BJ Penn-Sean Sherk PPV Together & Afterwards is when Junie had his 1st Major Blowup... That PPV was EARLY 2008... REED:mj:
..... It wasn't a horrible fight but Bader fought smart and won. BJJ does you no good if you can't take the other guy down.
Val, I agree. In fact, bizarrely, Vinny doesn't even try and take guys down, just waits for it to go down, then goes for a submission. He's not a very good MMA fighter. I was going to post this before the fight but I forgot - I was going to say it shouldn't surprise anyone if Vinny loses, because coming into TUF he was 2-2. His most recent fight being a loss earlier this year. He has superb ju jitsu, but he's clearly nothing special as an MMA fighter. Credit to Junie, he did look better tonight than on TUF. Still, it was against Kaplan, the dwarf that Nover destroyed in about 20 seconds. I was actually glad that Junie won, I can't stand the ugly little dwarf.
Well I knew that you would inexplicably (sp) show up at this thread without watching the fight, so I made up the thing about Vinny getting smoked, and pm'd val and mws to go along. :dunno:
Nover - Escudero is a pretty good fight. Unfortunately Escudero is winning. Here's rooting for Nover. It's a high level fight, perhaps the best skill/talent level I've seen in any TUF fight.
The nurse got beaten, but I have a horrible feeling about the decision. I took a beating in my bets, but at least Bader and hopefully Escudero softened the blow.
Yeah, he won clearly. It's a shame though, because although he's a VERY good fighter, he is a pretty boring wrestler. Mainly takedowns and that's it, makes for a pretty frustrating fight to watch, longing for some proper action. Nover has a lot of potential, but has one bad flaw right now that cost him the fight - basically no takedown defense.
You bet Kaplan over Junie? Kaplan fucking sucks :: Credit to Escudero, he really stepped it up tonight, it was his best performance, whereas Nover to be honest didn't really step it up, he just looked the same as he did on TUF. I don't know whether he was overconfident, or just less motivated than Efrain, but Efrain was clearly more up for it out of the 2. It's only a matter of times before Mexicans start taking over the lower weights in MMA. You have guys like Torres and Escudero on the same, sooner or later many more shall flood in. A lot of Mexicans are just born to fight, and tough as fuck.
I asked His Royness who he thought had the best shot at an upset and he said Kaplan. Then the line moved from +300 to +250, so I gave it a shot. I was in the mood to throw some money out and succeeded. I don´t really know that much about most MMA fighters yet, I just check the records, read sherdog, and look for the best underdog bets. I didn´t even do that for Kaplan. :: I just try to catch some fighters, who look really horrible doing some stuff, like that surfer boy on a recent WEC card, who had such an great wrestling background and will get killed by the first guy who can punch, because his stand-up is god awful. I just hope I´ll recognize him when the time comes. ::
