no surprise here that it was a garbage fight and a pathetic performance by Rahman. Wlad is a fucking disgrace to have chosen Rahman as an opponent, he's so shot that it is not even funny. And no surprise that the Klitshko claims Wlad avenged their honnor because Rahman used to talk trash about Vitaly, eh no he didn't, he fought a corpse far remove from the man who had Vitaly running. And we're supposed to annoint Wlad as the big thing in the hw division, but fact is, event thought the division is garbage, he doesn't even fight the top guy's unless they are featherfisted, the last risk he took was vs Peter, and Peter turned out to be, as shown in his fight vs Mccline, Maskaev and Vitaly, a slow moving barely punching plodder. In other words, another garbage man. Yet he put Wlad on the floor 3 times.
HBO is disgusting to approve such mismatch, it's obvious the guy's at the top have no clue about boxing, no wonder their boxing rating is in the shitter
So name the top contenders Wladimir is avoiding. Mind you he did not choose Rahman as his opponent but Povetkin, who got injured and Rahman took the fight on relatively short notice. I don't really see how you can blame Wlad for that. But please, throw out the names Wlad should fight. Not just "top guys", name them
Ruiz, Toney are the 2 obvious choices that, in my estimation, would have jump on the occasion to fight Wlad even if it was on short notice. Toney would have been a pretty pathetic pick in my estimation, considering he's shot too, but since he schooled Rahamn in their ''NC'' not long ago he was still a far better choice than Rahman. Other guy,s who would have probably taken the fight and are far better fighter than Rahamn right now : Oquendo, Skelton, maybe Jc Gomez would have accepted. Shit, even Maskaev would have been a far better choice than Rahman
Gomez is WBC manadory so I don't think he would have risked that with a short notice fight. Plus he doesn't sound exactly like the puncher you mention. Skelton would have been a good one, Maskaev was brutally beaten last time out and Oquendo isn't far better to anybody. Anyway, all this is just assumption about names who would have taken the fight under these conditions. We don't know for sure. I doubt there was very much to choose from and Rahman is still somehow marketable because of the one punch. But is there any real contender, not late substitute, Wlad should fight but he is avoiding? If so, give the names
Oh yeah, that makes it worse:notallthere: Had Wlad been afraid of him, I guess he would have accepted WBO manadory instead
Chagaev, Valuev, JC Gomez and Ruiz. Even David Haye, who'm I'm still unconvinced about him at hw, would be a good match.
Never claimed that Wlad was afraid of him, but let's not make it look like Wlad choose him in an attempt to clear the division. Wlad is more than happy to pilll on meaningless defenses after another
And Rahman doesn't have a big punch anymore, he hit Lawrence, who is chinny, about a billion time yet he never had him in any kind of trouble apart when he put him out of the ring, wich was more due to exhaution. He couldn,t even stop chinless scrub Sykes. Anyone who follows boxing, even casually, knew that Rahman was a joke fight
That is correct but what I meant there is that Rahman was more marketable to the big audiences than the other joke fights out there because of his former reputation. Of course his one-punch power is a myth, he just once landed the perfect punch
Chagaev and Valuev are both WBA champs simultaneously so getting to fight them is not that easy, although both could make for more intresting fights. J C Gomez made himself somewhat important with his last fight and he is now the WBC manadory so he should be in for Vitali next. You and LOK are the only ones who want to see Ruiz fight Wlad, or at all.
With so many excuses for him not to face other top contender, maybe he could fight Zuri Lawrence or Fryday Ahunaya in his next fight. They have cool names wich will look good on the fight poster and Wlad will look hot and muscular while dismantling them in slow boring fashion. This way Wlad fans will go home early and happy while being midly aroused.
Which one of those I gave you is the excuse? Gomez, Chagaev and Valuev all are in position where THEY or their promoters don't want to fight Klitschko, not the other way around. Do you know about how boxing politics work? The time when champion fought whom he wanted are gone decades ago. For your information: Valuev is holding to title and WBA gives him voluntare defese after another so he could keep to it. Chagaev hasn't done anything lately than cancelled fights and his next choise of opponent (Drumond something) doesn't sound like he was taking the ultimate risk with his belt either. And Gomez, as I said, is in the line next for the other Klitschko
It's not a schtick,.. it's just an unfortunate LOCKED fixation on double standards, it's a part of the disorder, the reason why it is unfortunate is because it ..is probably percieved as trolling, but I've got to be told that Im repeating myself before I am able to realise the extent of my episodes,.. I've had around 50 consecutive posts concerntrating on Hopkins, and the hatred for European fighters,.. and I realise too,.. that it's just got to stop,.. but I cant always help it on my own.
Rahman was the highest ranked contender available, so fighting him satisfied a mandatory. It was obviously a joke that Rahman was in that position, but the IBF deserves the blame for that, and given where Rahman was ranked, it made a lot more sense to fight him than some of the names you've mentioned. But, I guess he is Wladimir Klitschko and this is a boxing message board, so it's only customary to criticize his opponent. Hell, he was criticized for going ahead with a Povetkin fight, and I rank him well above a lot of names I hear people throwing out instead. I'd rather see him fight his other #1 contender, Dimitrenko, before he fights Ruiz, Toney, Oquendo, Skelton...but I don't see many people calling for that fight on here.
dsimon writes: Vlad should not be critisized for fighting Rahman but if you do not see a problem with him fighting dimiko, or whoever the powder fisted Guy of the month is then you are being stubborn and oblivious. What Vlad should do is try to line up some interesting fights like the Haye fight. There is a legitimate subtext for the fight as Haye is a champ in his division, a risk, as Haye is a puncher who will show up in shape for the fight, and... truly he cannot be critisized for fighting Haye. You pretend that this is not a viable option and that fan sentiment is not an issue.... silly Mitchell drop the guise.:kidcool:
Not if that division is heavyweight. If Klitschko signed to fight Povetkin, Dimitrenko and/or Haye next year that'd be fine by me. If he signed to fight the winner of Chagaev-Valuev, the same. If Gomez beat his brother and he signed to fight him, the same.
I wouldn't pay attention to miserable trolls of his kind. he has nothing to give but unprovoked hate.
Especially since people hated on Vitali for ducking him with an injury and waiting until the coast is clear. Looks like the two brothers really are complete together. One always getting revenge for the other. People will never be satisfied with this situation.
Wlad avenged his own defeat against Brewster which was nice I thought. I'd rather have the Klitschkos holding all the titles as opposed to the titles being spread out amongst a bunch of clowns like Byrd, Ruiz, and Brewster. That was awful.
I actually would not mind if Wlad decided to make his next fight against John Ruiz. Just so he can deliver a brain damaging beatdown on Ruiz and retire him brutally. Actually I think Vitali should do it. Vitali will make the beatdown even more painful.
Watching the replay this morning...I'm thinking, why didn't HBO interview David Haye on camera? Haye made it known he was going to be ringside for the fight. The two sides have been talking about a fight for months now. HBO's supposedly open to Haye fighting on their network before a Klitschko fight. Haye's "five feet" from Lewis and Lampley and talked to Lewis during the telecast. What a way to drum up support (in the States) for that fight. They couldn't even pay a few bucks to show some highlights of him...just a head shot on that graphic.
Dimitrenko and Arreola were both ranked above Rahman. Dimitrenko is a bum with a padded record. He was dominated by Luan Shotshitty´s 1-2 combinations. He´ll never amount to anything. He´s like a heavyweight Enzo only worse.
Yes after Brewster was almost legally blind and in a wheelchair, he could finally find the balls to fight a guy again, who was never any good to begin with. :shit:
