I'm not sure which surfer dude you mean. You don't have a name? I trust you didn't watch TUF then? Kaplan is rubbish. I don't rate Junie at all, but I thought it was rather obvious he would beat Kaplan. Junie got bashed by Escudero, but Kaplan got fucking DESTROYED in 20 seconds by Nover, and looked like a bum. I think you should punch Royness in the face for proposing such a stupid bet. How do you think Escudero would do against the top 155 pounders today?
THat motherfucker always blames his shit on me - i said Bader had the best chance and he won... :bears: I thought Kaplan might be good, i've never seen Junie fight before and since the line dropped, lots of other people must have give it a shot, too.
Well, I was dead wrongartie: Valdosta had a good call on Bader, I didn't think his wrestling was that good, nor his stand up, but he fought very smart. Vinny is going to need to learn takedowns if he wants to use his BJJ. Junie looked decent, we shall see.
:: I don't know if I would call him a shit fighter, now Kaplan, he's a shit fighter. And Junie did what he was supposed to do, beat him. I don't see Junie doing much in the UFC, but he might have a few good fights. Nothing special.
I thought Kaplan would do pretty good, even after his loss to Nover. He has a good wrestling and muay thai background.
What do you think about Anthony Johnson? After last night's kick, someone on sherdog called him "Bro Cop". ::
REED's Been Trying to Find an MMA BROTHER To Roll w/& Anthony Johnson is the # 1 Contender for that Spot::...Rampage is Tooooooooo INCONSISTENT & There's just Something about Rashad Evans that REED Doesn't Like, Can't Explain it... But Johnson Seems to B THE GOODS...EXPLOSIVE Striker w/his Hands OR Legs, GOOD Wrestler, STRONG as Hell, ATHLETIC, HUGE for the Weight he Fights @, CONFIDENT...& he's Only like 24 Years Old... If Johnson Didn't ALREADY have the Nickname "Rumble", "Bro Cop" WOULDN'T B Half Bad... REED:bears:
i think efrain will have trouble with a guy that can strike and cant be taken down so easily i think phillipe will have a better career, seems to be a better athlete, more explosive striker, BJJ black belt, just gotta work on that wrestling edit: it seems phillipe has a good chin too, he took some heavy shots on his back where his head bounced off the canvas and was totally fine and btw, bader seems to have big power in his right hand, i was surprised also surprised to know he was roomies with cb dalloway, hes the exact opposite personality wise of dalloway
Like Others have Said, Vinny ISN'T Made for MMA...He's Waaaaaaaaaay Tooooooooo LEERY of Getting Hit...When Standing, Vinny's MORE Concerned w/NOT Getting Hurt than he is w/INFLICTING Punishment on his Opponent... & THE WAY he Reacted to Bader's Right Hand was EMBARRASSING...Bader DIDN'T Even Land the Shot Flush, yet Vinny Fell Down & just COVERED UP...Didn't even ATTEMPT to Fend Off Blows or Anything...Jiu-Jitsu was THE Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurthest Thing from Vinny's Mind, 1nce Bader Dropped him...Vinny's a TALENTED Guy, but he's Better Suited to BJJ Tourney's than MMA...U're GOING to Get Hit N the Grill N MMA & Vinny is Absolutely PETRIFIED of Facial Contact... The Phillipe-Efrain Fight was Decent, but Phillipe just COULDN'T Match Efrain's STRENGTH...Efrain Very Nearly DOMINATED Phillipe, After Rogan Performed AUDIO FELLATIO on him... SURPRISING Night of Fights, but a GOOD Night... REED:hammert:
Couldn't agree more. He also has the intangibles like heart and desire. That dude wanted some ass last night. He got hit a few times and it never detered him. But man was I disappointed by Vinnie's lack of chin. As you said, it wasn't close to being a clean shot and he dropped like a box of rocks. In retrospect, the two best light heavies were probably Bader and Eliot Marshall. I hate it when guys that are top of the world in one martial art (i.e. Vinnie's jiu-jitsu) and then they feel they have something to prove by standing with an opponent. I realize Bader is a great wrestler, but damn I was hoping Vinnie would at least try to get it to the ground. Nevertheless, it was another entertaining card with some highlight reel KO's and submission.
I am with ya on Johnson, REED. He is the real deal. I also agree with you Evans, not sure what it is about him, but can't really root for him.
I used to like Evans when he was on the show because he was an underdog that took a lot of shit from Matt Hughes and Dana White. He also came accross as a well spoken and laid back individual, but since estabilishing himself in the UFC, he has become sort of a douche. Johnson is pretTy cool though. He's not that good technically, but he's very athletic and explosive. All three of his UFC wins have been high-light reel finishes.
That was awesome! Gatti is right on about him technically, but his strength and athleticism makes him so dangerous. Does anyone know who he trains with?
He Mentioned Cung Le N his Post Fight Interview & Some Other Name that REED Didn't Recognize... REED:mj:
That actually makes alot of sense, you can kind of see a bit of Cung Le's influence. Johnson is legit. I would love to see him really step up the comp in his next fight. He needs a top 5-10 guy in the division.
That's actually the first time I've seen Johnson, he seems one to watch though. Regarding Evans, I agree with the others, there is something about him that is not likeable at all. He is the opposite of Rampage. Being that Page is fighting Silva, I assume his cop chase spree is forgotten about now? And what about Cungle? He's sort of lost the steam from the Shamrock fight now (which was a pretty good fight) - are there even talks of his next fight?
Cung Le is more interested in being a movie star. It seems everything I read about him lately regards movie projects instead of fighting. It's too bad because he was an entertaining dude to watch.
I've been to most of his fights, he's exciting but really he hasn't fought anyone that good yet, Shamrock really isn't that good anymore, he's a part time fighter, he's very inactive. Obviously it was his best win by far, and I'm still pissed at Shamrock for fighting the dumbest fight he's ever fought. I was at the fight and the crowd was pissed at Shamrock for standing there and trading and not even trying to use his strengths. He wanted to beat Cung at his own game and it backfired on him. I think Cung Le is a KO waiting to happen. There are some clips of him doing a judah dance in san sho matches on youtube. His chin is a huge question mark as is his ground game.
I don't think he's the best in the world. I just think his kickboxing style is entertaining. I am one of the few that agree with you about Shamrock's strategy. I hate it when guys lose fights without trying to impose their own strengths.
There were more than a few of us live at the fight that felt Shamrock blew it trying to prove he could beat Cung standing. I would love for him to stop making crappy B movies and fight more though. He has a huge fan base in San Jose, when he fights on the strikeforce cards it's a whole different atmosphere than when he's not on the card. People love that guy.
Trpl - I agree. Hey, Cungle might not be a great fighter, but he is nice to watch, and would make for some entertaining fights. That Shamrock fight made a nice change from half the fucking lay and pray fights I see in MMA these days. Too bad he's not serious about fighting.
