...well both camps have come out and said it is pretty much a done deal....i don't think Vitali cares much for the Gomez fight....if the WBC force him to vacate, then so be it......apparently the plan then would be for Wlad to vacate the IBO title so that Haye and Vitali can fight for the vacant one.....so that the fight doesn't lose its 'world title' billing
Lennox Lewis to be brought in to Haye’s camp as an advisor for the Klitschko fight, according to Boxingscene. Tip #1 from Lennox…don’t come in at 256+ pounds.
Awesome! We now have 6 months to talk sh*t on here leading up to the fight. :bears:This should pass my time very well I'm sure.
Yep, the hat makes him look taller. Vitali is a good 4 inches taller. David Haye is no shortarse though, he's a good 6'3.
dsimon I've come to the conclusion that you literally can't analyse boxing and boxers at all, it's like you're seeing something that just isn't reality. Vitali used very few angles? Actually he uses angles MUCH more than his brother, that's what makes him so awkward. Wlad has a more typical Euro style. Upright, high guard, disciplined jab, straight punches, no angles. Vitali fights with his hands low, throws all sorts of roundhouse punches from odd angles, often leads with powerpunches and hooks, and has a more unpredictable pattern of attack. Vitali is also significantly slower than his brother. Wlad has quicker hands, quicker reactions, and marginally quicker feet (but still not exactly fast feet). Wlad has very quick hands for a big man, and throws straight punches.
I totally agree with you. I love boxing, LOVE it, but it does make me sad to see so many fighters just going out like bitches these days, literally fighting not to lose rather than fighting to win. In the 70's and 80's when fighters got a chance, they would fucking go for it most of the time.
One has to appreciate the Klit brothers. Stay in shape,...never get into trouble...and were/are at the top of even this pathetic heavyweight division. They came around at the right time.....after the Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe and Lewis were on the downside or gone. But if not for them.......we would have verry little talent in an already talent starved division. I do think Haye has a chance against Vitaly though. He is getting old and hasn't fought very many fights in the past few years. Haye is hungry, fast and confident. And he does, I think,...possess fight changing power even being a verry small heavyweight.
I think some of those names are very over-rated, and even when those guys were around, it's not like they were always fighting each other. Riddick Bowe went into hibernation after losing to Holyfield...and fought none of the other fighters on the list. Tyson's time in the 90's wasn't filled with great opponents...and he didn't fight Lewis when he could have, and fought Holyfield because many were of the opinion he was finished after the performances against Bowe and Czyz. And afterwards, Holyfield - who had a lot of losses and close calls for a "great" heavyweight - delayed fighting Lewis for a while with his asking price. The 90's had talented heavyweights, but I think there's a lot of romanticism that goes on with that era. It happened at the tail end of that era when Lewis, a Brit, was on top and it's even more now that two Ukranians are.
Maybe Haye is thinking Vitaly is the slower of the two bros...i can try to counter all night..and not get hit much...HE IS FUCKED...that strategy would be better used on Wladimir sensitive chin...
You talk too much. Why not let the fight unfold in 6 months time rather than getting worked up about it and passing off your opinion like it's set in stone. Vitali will be 38 years old when this fight is on. And Haye won't be standing there like a lump of sh*t like Peter was. This COULD be a very dangerous fight for Vitali. If Haye is trained and ready for 12 rounds and is focused and in supreme shape, this could be a classic.
dsimon writes: Ok but I am thinking more pragmatic here. Haye is young enough to claim youthful indescretion and grow into a formidable heavy over time.
Haye will be ready for 12 rounds...focused in great condition....but the only way he wins is if VITALY pulls out of the fight with an injury...
dsimon writes: Ive come to the conclusion you guys are on crack. Vitalie does sometimes hold his hands low and occasionally he roundhouses a punch but he is still quite orthodox by most standards. When you talk about angles to my way of thinking trajectory is based on footwork and punching angle... but more so footwork, or more accurately body movement. So Joe Frazier fought coming in at angles... for example. When a guy moves linear back and fourth and throws shots that is not angling... at least the way i understand it. REgardless there is no way you can say that Vitalie depends on his body placement and footwork... angling to deliver his shots... the fact that he hooks his punches or throws them from a different degree than absolutely straight... well ok.
There's more to angles than footwork. Vitali doesn't use it that much. Most of his movement is upper body. But what the way he eyes his opponent, and the way he punches...you can see he's changing up his delivery. Wlad throws his punches the same way, repeatedly...whether they hit skin, glove, whatever. Vitali tries to stick his punches in like a knife to the open areas. Very different approach to punching.
There's this big fixation on Wlad's chin when thinking about Haye,... but um,... how about Haye's chin more importantly?.. it's fucking glass,... could he even handle Wlad's jab?..Haye gets bowled over by Cruiserweights, KO'd by little Carl Thompson,..yet it's not about how the fuck is he going to handle Wlad's offensive abilities, it's about how Wlad is going to handle Haye's?..:notallthere:
The Thompson KO was a stamina KO: Haye absolutely punched himself out trying to smash Thompson through the floor. It had nothing to do with a glass chin. This is the sort of nonsense people raise about Nigel Benn being 'KO-ed by a jab' by Michael Watson...:notallthere: That said, Haye is certainly chinny, BUT is it any worse than Wlad's? I mean, Wlad himself is so worried about it that he refused to engage little old Sultan Ibragimov with anything more risky than power parries... :: What would have made Wlad-Haye interesting is that BOTH have power and BOTH have weak chins. No-one said otherwise, did they? MTF :dunno:
The difference is,.. Haye's glass chin has been proven at CRUISERWEIGHT,.. now some British Haye groupies have claimed that was 'drainage' chinnery making 200lbs,.. .. No,.. .....he's already been down in just his second fight at heavyweight..:: ,...but people are POISED on Wlad?.. Haye is up against perhaps the only fighter alongside his brother, in boxing,.. where it is EXPECTED and demanded that they knock thier opponent out every single outing, if they dont, they get pissed on,....... Haye's chin is.. delicious to the knuckle, to say the least.
Yeah Haye goes down - but he is not the same dude that fought Thompson. It would better for the division if Haye fought and beat the other top ten guys [ he is more than capable ] and then fight for the title. Haye is going to lose, and I think Vitali beats him up bad for 4-5 rounds before finally stopping him. At least the Hayemaker has the balls to back up that big mouth BTW I think Vitali will take anything Haye can land on him...
The thing is...he genuienly believes he is going to win, hence his taking the fight. His arrorgance absolutely transends any sort of sensible consideration MTF
