Ledwaba seemed to be a pretty skilled fighter

too bad he didn't rebound off of that loss.

It's funny if you say "Africa"; it's not funny when you look at the weather from where he is from (and you know how hot Las Vegas can get):

    agREED.

I was VERY late to the Pacquiao bandwagon. Was pleased when he whupped MAB (hated MAB) Didn't fully sign on until after he beat Morales the 1st time, was fully convinced after he waxed him in the 3rd match.

Based on the ass-whupping he laid on Oscar, I've never been so happy to be SO WRONG about a fighter.

    BTW...

Manny's still paying for his association with Murad...I heard he took home less than $3 million of his $11 million purse after paying trainers, managers and back taxes.

That's how it is with every boxer's purse, the government takes almost half of it. I actually read an article about the "net" pay of some sports stars, and after taxes, agent fees, and other expenses, the amount is a lot less than the number that is blasted across the front page of newspapers.

That's why most sports stars (Pacquiao included) chose to sign endorsement deals. Pacquiao has one with San Miguel Beer, and Nike, he probably makes more off those deals than all of his purses combined.

With bout sheets, they show net pay then deductions taken before paying out to the fighter. Typically you'll see deductions such as exams fees, sanctioning fees, repayment to promoters for advances (in this case $600,000) stuff like that. A guy like Oscar will get his $20 million THEN payout taxes, managers etc.

For Pac's deductions to be listed on the paysheet, it tells me he's paying back taxes and the managers etc lined up to get paid first. He'll pay taxes on the $11 million from the $3 million if I'm not mistaken.

Case in point, Floyd had a $500,000 tax lien against his Baldomir purse...he still had to pony up taxes on the rest of the money. I don't recall seeing taxes deducted from the $8,000,001 on that bout sheet. The bout sheet simply says what the State of Nevada cuts a check to the fighter for.

Interesting, where did you read that Pacquiao is only taking home $3 million BEFORE taxes?

Here's an article from a few years back talking about Manny's purse from the second Morales fight. Note that it says the IRS took back and current taxes. With that said, it's possible that the taxes Manny paid from the DLH purse included past and current taxes...if you're delinquent it makes sense that they'll make themselves whole on fight night.

Hauser wrote this article based on the actual bout sheet so he knew exactly where the money went.

Hmm according to Hauser, a lot of those deductions are from expenses that Manny incurred himself including a luxury suite, and a Porsche Carrera.

I'd still like to see the actual bout sheet for Pacquiao-Dela Hoya to see actual numbers.

Yes it is. Finkel and Shaw "saved" Manny from Murad then did exactly the same thing to him.

Someone explain what Shaw did for $372,000...which is more than Manny took home.

Another thing to consider...Alabama often talks about the endorsement deals Manny has...all that means is, there's another set of hands in his pockets taking THAT money. Wouldn't be surprised if there are clauses in his contract with management to get a cut of ALL money he makes.

I think it was for the rematch with Forrest, but I heard that Mayorga signed for over a million and took home around $11,000.

Pacquiao takes home $20,000,000 a year from Nike, and San Miguel. Yeah he gives a lot of it away, but he's still a lot richer than you. :dunno:

I still want to see numbers that say Pacquiao only took home $3,000,000 from the purse. So far it's just hear-say from a friend of a friend.

That's $20 million pesos which means about $200 dollars American.

Manny is a country bumpkin, he's getting robbed blind and has no idea how to manage his money. He'll be broke before 40

I don't think so. I am about to marry a girl from Manila and the American Dollar goes a LOOOOOOOOOONG way over there. Even if he has 500k, he can live the rest of his life and not have to worry about money. It take maybe $700 US dollars a month to live like a champ over there.
