    The truth is revealed here.

    1. Wladimir Klitschko - Yeah'a'know he has soft chin, he rules the worstest division ever, whateva. The truth is, his jab is a damn hammer. He turns guys gun-shy with the force of his jab, he is also accurate with it and has great reach for the punch.

    2. Larry Holmes - Astonishing accuracy, very sharp, quick and also powerful

    3. Cassius Clay - Blinding speed, great accuracy and even if his jab wasn't the most powerful one, it had snap

    4. Lennox Lewis - Great reach, good speed for a big guy and power behind it.

    5. George Foreman -Amazingly heavy considering the effort he threw it with. And even though his jab wasn't quick, he threw it with so little shoulder movement that it was difficult to block
    6. Joe Louis - Accurate and very hard (at least for his time )

    7. Sonny Liston - Jab like a power punch

    8. Mike Tyson - Underrated jab which he used very effectively to make room for his hooks.

    9. Jorge Luis Gonzalez - No this isn't a joke. In fact he should probably be higher in the list. Was a farce of a heavyweight contender but his jab was indeed supreme: great reach with it, faster than Lennox and seemed to carry great snap. Too bad it was the only good thing he had.

    10. Riddick Bowe - Didn't always demonstrate it but had a fine jab too.

And plenty of good runner-ups. Discuss

Even though he was inconsistent and doesn't belong on any list of great heavies; for the jab alone i think Pinklon Thomas deserves a mention.

Also this thread could be titled:

"10 guys that would give David Tua terrible nightmares."

Pinklon is a good pick. Also guys like Mercer and Bruno had good jabs despite being flawed fighters

Considering the fact that the jab is considered the most important punch a boxer can have, I think picking a guy who wasn't very successful as a heavyweight wouldn't be right.

You figure it wrong. Big punch is also essential for a boxer yet there are great boxers without one

holmes is considered one of the best jabbers in the history of boxing, not just in the heavyweight division.

what the fuck are you talking about?

I didn't understand the logic there. Sure the jab is the most important punch but if a fighter has that alone, he won 't be succesful. The same way if a fighter only packs huge power, is only quick etc. he won't be succesful. And the other way: the fact that a fighter isn't succesful doesn't mean he couldn't have some great asset. Marion Wilson is a scrub of a fighter but had a chin that was on the leveö of all-time greats. Pinklonn Thomas was a solid heavyweight at best but his jab was a fabulous one

Why don't you say without oxygen we couldn't live. You are stating the fucking obvious. Just keep quiet and read the boards ONLY until you learn about boxing.

There's more to a jab than just flicking out your lead hand. It's how you use it. It's about whether or not it's used to back someone up or keep them at bay. It's about what punches follow up the jab.

Sure, as Joony stated, Larry Donald might have had a good jab, but he didn't do anything with it but flick it out. Give me a great fighter in the modern era of boxing that didn't utilize a good jab, and you'll be selecting a rare fight.

thats a good list. yeah Gonzalez did have a jab. Don't know about Tyson... Jab was not his punch. Bowe, ditto.

Ali used the jab the most extensivelyand could throw it an almost any angle but Vlad's is textbook... and it is devistating.

How you gonna put Gonzalez ahead of Bowe when Big Daddy jabbed the ever living fuckin bejesus outta Jorge!

Golota belongs on the list probably. His jab was far better than Gonzalez's.

except for #1 it is indeed a nice list. Ali should be #1, Holmes #2, Louis #3, Lewis #4. and I agree Mercer and Tyson do belong in there. they have very underrated jabs

Foreman's jab is top 3. He threw it really fast in the beginning of his second career. In fact, it was the only punch he threw fast. I don't know why you say he didn't use shoulder movement with the jab. He did, frankly.

I remember his early second career fights against guys like Rocky Sekorski. Foreman would throw that jab out there quick, and then Rocky's expression would change drastically. He was surprised that Foreman still had a jab, and the power on it was crushing.

I meant that his shoulder did not move up, which it does for most fighters. Foreman's jab wasn't exactly a quick one, but it was very difficult to see it coming and that made it appear fast

Actually he did not. Bowe brutalized Gonzalez with overhand rights and hooks. When they exchanged jabs, Gonzalez held his own

Bitch, I went to Virginia to study your style. If I would have been in that lawyers corner he would have finished you off in the first round.

Anytime you want to meet me mano-a-mano, come to Donovan's Gym in NYC -- if you have the guts. It's on 14th Avenue and KOYourAss Street. I'll crack your back and make your liver quiver!
