What are some of the best one sided overall performances you've ever seen? Be in boxing clinics, clinical beatdowns, or both? Just a few off the top of my head: Jones-Toney PBF-Corrales Curry-McCrory Sanchez-Gomez Chavez-Rosario Duran-Palimino Duran-Dejesus III Monzon-Napoles Pac-Barrera Benitez-Duran Starling-Honeyghan McGirt-Brown Nunn-Tate Taylor-McGirt Hagler-Hamsho 1 Camacho-Ramirez Cervantes-Dejesus Name some others.
Great Topic! Buddy McGirt-Simon Brown Wilfred Benitez-Roberto Duran Alexis Arguello-Alfredo Escalera 1 and 2 Carlos Palomino-Dave "Boy" Green
I dunno if I'd call that a virtuoso performance. Green was giving Palimino hell for most the fight, until Carlos swelled his eye, then landed that monster hook. One of the best left hook KO's you'll ever see. Palimino-Green was a great fight though.
Yeah. I'd even say that Leonard-Benitez was a virtuoso performance also. Benitez was competitve in most the rounds, but I dont remember Will actually WINNING any rounds. Leonard was in control the entire fight. Hearns-Benitez is also a virtuoso performance. Boring as hell, but Tommy outboxed Benitez beautifully.
whitaker is my favorite fighter of all time, but he fought like a bitch in that fight against a much smaller nelson.
Whitaker beat Nelson clearly, but I agree it wasnt one of his better performances. Whitaker-Haugen, Whitaker-Ramirez II, and Whitaker-Pineda, THOSE were great virtouso performances.
I shoulda also added Kalambay-McCallum 1 to the list. In fact that might be one of THE best boxing displays ever that Kalambay put on.
hopkins vs. glen johnson, tito, tarver, and pavlik martin castillo vs. alex munoz I lakva sim vs. ebo elder winky vs. mosley I mayweather vs. n'dou tszyu vs. tackie floyd vs. corrales micalzweski vs. hill hamed vs. robinson, bungu
you make a good point. That fight probably just came into my hed cause i watched it most recently.:kidcool:
Hopkins - Tito was the most surprising to me. Hopkins won the psychological game, and Tito was winging for the KO. Hopkins stayed calm, picked his shots, and made Tito pay time and time again. Seeing Tito on the canvas, barely able to make a 10 count made me realize that Hopkins was a bad dude.
he did win like 8 rounds and won the fight w/ his jab, but it was frustrating to see him keep going for nelson's leg as if he was gonna drop him w/ a single-leg takedown. haha, i forget which round, but whitaker at one point put him in a front headlock and hit him w/ a left hand behind his back where the ref couldnt see.
Most of mine are already here, but Michael Watson also pops up in a few worth mentioning: McCallum-Watson Watson-Benn Watson-Eubank II (which was a virtuoso performance all the way to until 2.45 of round 11) Also, a few obvious ones: Ali-Foreman Lewis-Tyson Ali-Williams Mayweather-Hatton MTF
jones jr vs hall ! some may question the legitimacy of hall as a worthy foe, but consider that he took the "great" Dariusz Michalczewski to the depthes of hell. twice.
Duran - Moore Hopkins - Titty Tua - Ruiz Pacman - Barrera Calzaghe - Lacy Floyd - Chico And some more recent ones... Pacman - Oscar Mijares - Arse Nonito - Vic Vic - Mijares Hopkins - Pavlik (Has this even been mentioned? It was an incredible performance, especially given Hopkins' age and Pavlik's stature)
I think the first one is a better example. DeJesus outclasses, outboxed and put on a decent boxing clinic on Duran. The other two, Duran just mauled him like he did everyone else.
Jones-Toney, Jones-Hall Mayweather-Gatti, Mayweather-Corrales Hopkins-Trinidad, Hopkins-Pavlik, Hopkins-Tarver Calzaghe-Lacy Ali-Williams
