Who wants that when you can rewatch Calzaghe-Jones?

I don't think that had the HBO crew, though, it was a GBP/HBO ppv.

No wonder. They could always revoice it and add graphics though. You would think they would want to flaunt that they were a part of it.

Hardly a classic year for the sweet science, was it?

there were some awesome fights this year:

    Vasquez/Marquez 3
    Pacquiao/Marquez 2
    Casamayor/Katsidis
    Margarito/Cotto
    Adamek/Cunningham
    Holt/Torres 2
    Campbell/Diaz
    Bute/Andrade
    Casamayor/Marquez

it was a very good year, imho.

Well, '08 had one really good month of boxing...I'm not sure the year as a whole stacks up, though.

It lacked in superfights, but I think the year as a whole produced some memorable moments.

Pac/Hoya and Hopkins/Pavlik were not great fights, but they were historic performances by two guys who were thought to be outmatched.

Yeah, both winners vaulted themselves to a new level of greatness, IMO. I'll never forget those fights.

2009 is stacking up to be pretty good too. Off the top of my head, we're already looking at

    Margarito/Mosley
    Diaz/Marquez
    Pacquiao/Hatton
    Vitali/Haye
    Darchinyan/Arce
    Donaire/Montiel
That good card featuring Campbell against the guy who knocked Raheem out and Angulo/Mayorga. I believe it all starts with Berto/Collazo too in mid-January.

Plus 122 should have some great fights at some point.

This year is going to be great.

I agree. Throw in Bradley-Holt, Demarco-Raimkulov, Adamek-Flores, some solid ESPN2 fights (like Urango-Ndougdjo) and not a lot of pay per view fights and you have what looks to be a pretty good first half of '09.

Not sure what the status of Bute-Andrade II, but if that comes off that's another good fight.

And that still leaves some names out there, with potential, who don't have dance partners...Kessler, Williams, Abraham, Wright, R. Marquez, Taylor, Dzinziruk, Clottey, Caballero, Lopez, Juarez, et al.

Plus, you still have Margarito-Cotto II which could come in the summer if they take care of business, Klitschko-Povetkin could still be made, the possible return of Mayweather Jr. (presumably against the winner of Hatton-Pacquiao).

Plus, there's a lot of fighters that are due to step up - like Devon Alexander, Victor Ortiz, Urbano Antillon, Lamont and Anthony Peterson, Tavoris Cloud, James Kirkland, Mike Alvarado, Odlanier Solis, Andre Ward, Andre Dirrell...and a number of other '04 Olympians.

The potential is there for the best year the sport's had in a while.

Ward "Stepped it Up" SOMEWHAT in '08....Ravelo & Williams WERE Steps UP N Class for Ward...& he Tried to Make a Fight w/Allan Green, but 1 of the Networks REJECTED it....

The Fact that Ward even TRIED to Fight Green Speaks POSITIVELY about what he has Planned for '09, N Terms of Quality of Opposition....
