    Yep.

    Pacman won't lose to hatton.

Hatton will cause a few problems here and there just by smothering pacman, grabbing him, manhandling him etc, but they are 2 different levels of fighters.

Hatton's size and physical strength advantage won't overcome the gulf in skill and talent.

Hes never lost at 140 because he didn't fight Floyd there and hasn't fought anybody of Manny's calibre there. Dos de Mayo Hattons 140lb 0 is gonna go.

I'll be interested to watch the footwork Pac uses his footwork against Hatton. He's pretty sneaky the way he can momentarily set his right foot and spring up with those lead lefts...DLH gave him plenty of room to do that in their fight.

I don't think he'll get the kind of space he prefers against Hatton...he certainly can't allow Pac that room to punch.

Pacquiao's jab and right hook have both gotten better, and he figures to land them against Hatton...but Hatton's got a pretty good chin, and he's shown that he'll take punches to it and keep coming.

I don't think Pacquiao will get Hatton's respect as easily as he has with some other opponents, or the way some expect he will.

I think this is more of a boxing match than some anticipate.

AgREED. It's a close pick 'em fight IMO.

I tend to agree with you. Manny beating Oscar has skewed the views of many. Personally I think Hatton can out muscle Manny and really test the extra weight, which Oscar never did.

    Diaz never got to either.

Oscar has great handspeed and he missed entire combinations against Manny. From what i have seen from Pacs career so far the punch that he struggles to defend is the straight right hand. Morales and Marquez have great straight right hands and they gave Pac problems. De la Hoya and Hatton do not.

    That's true I suppose REEDsART.
How do you think the inside fighting will play out?

Hatton only ever throws the left from the outside, and is wide as hell with it...Pac will counter it all night :dunno:

in a fair fight Pac wins pretty easily...however, the only X factor is Hatton's stinky mauling and wrestling tactics, which he better go for if he wants to win

The pac man is a beast but Ricky is a strong light welter that could hurt Manny.Pac has not yet been tested at the heavier weights, he had it all his own way against Dela and Diaz

How he reacts to getting hit still remains to be seen..

Agreed. If Jay Nady is the ref and ironically he never has refed Hatton for any of his 5 fights in Nevada, this would be a 3-4 round blowout.

Hatton should win, and (despite a few good rounds from Pacquiao) will do so fairly comfortably.

Pacquiao historically has had problems with rough (nice way of saying "dirty") fighters (see Agapito Sanchez), and he hasn't fought anybody in quite a while that will mug him like Hatton will.

Manny will have to time Hatton coming in, similar to the way PBF did. -Get off first. It will all be about rhythm. He has to keep turning Ricky like he did so well against DLH, and try to land B4 Hatton, gets set & jumps on him. The fact that Pac is a southpaw & that Hatton leads with that LHook on the way in, is good 4 Pac.
If he can't, then it will be a tough night 4 Manny, because I don't think he will be strong enough to deal with Hatton's rough-house stuff inside.

Hatton was hurt by a geriatric Phillips @140, and looked like shit against Tackie.

And Urango's strength disrupted Hatton big time.

Plus. Hatton's leaping jabs will give Pacquiao plenty o oppportunities.

I'd venture to say, in fact, that Hatton's best perormances have been against fights in wich the referee was hand-picked by Warren.

Castillo was a good win @140 but inconclusive IMO. He certainly wasn't facing a prime Castillo, and nontheless took some sick left hooks from his slow, veteran opponent.

Hatton's the one who is overrated, not Pacquiao. For the most part Hatton has beaten over the hill and slow fighters who couldn't keep up with him and were in general out of favor with the referee.

Pacquiao will destroy Hatton. I think he'll even have a height advantage!!!

With the exception of JM Marquez, you could say the same about Pacquiao's opposition for the last three years:

    Larios
    Morales III
    Solis
    Barrera II
    DeLaHoya

Hatton looked great against Malignaggi who makes everyone look like crap (except Cotto). He was able to cut off the ring and beat up Malignaggi without holding. This is a pick em fight. I'd favor Manny slightly with his youth and less mileage than Hatton but it's in no way a long shot for Hatton to not only win, but stop Manny.

Malignaggi can't punch...defense sucks...movement is ass...After the 1st round Hatton new he can just run him down...and be as aggressive as he wanted..he wasn't going to get hit with anything hurtful....against PACQUIAO he won't be able to do that....

It was about as conslusive as you can get

Roughed him up for 4 rounds, then took him out with 1 bodyshot.

I cant see why so many here are favoring Hatton. Just look at how much trouble he had with bum ass Collazo. Louie was able to nail him with straight lefts, and right hooks coming in at will, and was able to hurt him. Manny has considerably more handspeed and power than Louie fuckin Collazo, and Hatton has DECLINED from the fighter he was then.

In all honesty, I wouldnt be at all surprised if Manny blows him away like he did Morales in the third fight.

  24. Mitchell Kane

Mitchell Kane WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

I wouldn't compare Pacquiao's counter-punching to Collazo's. Collazo, like Mayweather, was looking to counter when Hatton came in straight. Pacquiao's not that kind of fighter, IMO.

Besides, Hatton's got Senior in his corner...he won't be coming in straight anymore.

  25. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Senior cant help to correct what Hatton's been doing his entire career. And Ricky's only chance is to fight in his vintage style, and maul Manny. Cause from the outside its a mismatch.

Good call on the Collazo fight. This fight will be a brutal ass kicking and i will enjoy every second of it.

    Viva Manny Pacquaio!

Why would you qualify the argument by confining it to the last three years?

And David Diaz certainly wasn't over the hill or particularly slow. And I wouldn't say that about Solis either. Barrera II and DeLaHoya I'll give you. But unlike Hatton, Pacquiao hasn't built his reputation beatiing up over the hill and slow as shit opposition. He just hasn't. Hatton has. And the few times his opposition hasn't been slow and over the hill, he's either lost or looked like shit. Heck, he even looked like shit I thought against Tackie and Urango, neither of whom are exactly speed demons.

it was a liver shot. you ever been hit with one? it doesn't even have to be hard and it paralyzes you. usually for longer than 10 seconds. rarely does a fighter recover in time to fight on if he's hit in the liver. so why doesn't it happen more often? because fighters learn to obsess over protecting it, knowing that if they're hit there, they're fucked.

Hatton's angles and foot-work, not to mention his holding and pace, befuddled Castillo such that Hatton was able to land right smack dab in the middle of that sweet spot. Castillo couldn't recover.

either way, let's not kid ourselves that Hatton fought the best version, or even a decent version of Castillo. i think that's been pretty evident in light of both Castillo's and Hatton's subsequent performances.

and the reason i say it wasn't conclusive, although it certainly was decisive, is that it was one shot. one shot that came just as Castillo began to adjust to Hatton's pace and land some clean hooks.

Hatton probably would've won either way, but what I don't agree with is that at the time he landed that body-shot he was dominating the fight. I don't believe that to have been the case no matter what Jim Lampley tells me.

Pac by TKO late after Hatton gasses and tries to stink his way out. Pac won't be sitting still to hang on to. Could be a great fight, boxing needs to really sell this.
