Why is Diaz/JMM being touted as the fight to decide the best lightweight?

I wouldnt be surprised if Baby cow beat Campbell in a rematch. Campbell might not ever duplicate a performance like that again in his career.

My thoughts on Campbell beating Diaz, I'll quote Wesley Snipes in White Men Cant Jump "The sun even shines on a dog's ass somedays".

    Spot on.

What is going to happen with Juan if he beats Marquez is that he is going to fight probably Barrera next, and maybe Morales afterwards or vice-versa.

Campbell is nowhere in their plans, he has zero drawing power and no one knows who he is, and it simply won't happen as according to Schaeffer at the press conference when GBP signed Juan, those two fights are going to happen for Diaz and they will bring in a ton of money from the Latin audience.

I am thinking he will beat Marquez via UD, and one of those fights I mentioned will probably take place late Summer.

He deserves a lot of credit for that performance, but I tend to agree.

Even watching it at the time, you got the sense it was a career best peformance.

basically, i can't wait to see JMM school Diaz. if Diaz thinks college is hard, wait until he gets his lesson from JMM. who's handspeed will mean one of two things: Diaz fights his fight and gets KTFO or Diaz abandons his usual balls to the walls approach when he discovers every bit of his offense is met with leg wobbling counters. In this case, Diaz loses a decision.

bottom line: he's not beating JMM.

JMM is the champion. Its funny how people throw a bunch of bullshit in there to confuse people....and themselves. It won't work on me though.

Agreed. Diaz never established himself as the "champ" at lightweight. He pretty much became a top lightweight by default when Castillo left 135, and Corrales became shot. He beat a washed up Fruitass, and the incredibily mediocre WHOlio Diaz. Marquez beat Casa, who beat Corrales when Diego was the "champ" at 135, so that makes JM the champ. And Casa, as old as he was, is still a better than anyone Baby Cow has beaten. Afterall, Baby Cow just got owned by Casa's son.

i'd hardly call campbell casa's son - it was a vry controversial decision and at least 50% of observers felt campbell won.

heck, most people thought kid diamond and santa cruz beat casa too. and the third match with corrales, if you ask me, could've gone either way.

the fact that JMM ko'd casa was impressive, but beating him was no great feat. in reality, lots of guys have beaten Casa.

in in recent times was over Katsidis who was beating his ass before he got caught.

i dont know about campbell being robbed, but it was a close fight indeed. i thought casamayor won. casamayor is irrelevant anyhow, the guy is finished.

Casamayor's claim as champion is flimsy as hell. I for one never called him such.
