Well, Pacquiao would be another small guy he would feast on. How exactly is Manny gonna embarass him? I can't believe this Pacmania these days. Reminds me lots of Tito's before Hopkins teared down the bandwagon.
Just so its known, I think Castillo is a pretty rough fight for Pacquiao. Corrales would get blown out, but Castillo is an entirely different fighter. He's nowhere near as good as Pacquiao, but @ 135, he's a tough night for anyone who isn't bigger, or physically stronger than he is. That said, whoever won, I think it's a close decision either way.
the difference is Tito was a robotic hack with alleged power and skill. Manny has racked up win after win over HOFer after HOFer, in convincing fashion. Tam is right. This is a bit of a rough style for Mann, because of the physicality that Castillo brings. But that is literally it. Manny can easily and willingly tee off on his chin with Castillo's maricon-esque defense. With Pac's footwork, it won't be easy for JLC to turn this into the kind of phone booth fight it would take for him to win. I just don't think Castillo is very good, I never have, and his being KO'd by journeyman and losing to inferior guys to Manny around his "prime" keeps me from thinking he'd win
Thanks Tam, I just would feel very sure Castillo would sooner rather than later get in there and rough him up. I don't think Manny has it in him to make it an outside affair despite jaw's admiration of Manny "Fred Astaire's" Pacquiao's footwork. And jaws, your insanely unbalanced posts makes me wish I could bring double L to the argument to match your madness. The only difference with the Titomania is that time passed and Tito got beat down and their fans send back to reality. This will happen very soon with Manny as well. He has done shit all since he left 130 and now you get all this guys picking him over elite champs at 135-140-147.
Castillo is not an elite champ. Neither is Corrales. These are not elite fighters. When I come into a thread saying Manny would beat Shane Mosley at 135 or Leonard at 147 or Tszyu at 140, then you can accuse me of bias. Until then, he has KO'd Morales, Barrera, DLH, beaten Marquez twice, etc.... He's proven to be an all-time elite fighter. This has nothing to do with mania. I picked Calzaghe over Toney and would pick Calzaghe over alot of guys in the 168-175 range. Its because he's good, and always was, just like Pac.
this is crazy. castillo would've dealt a serious beatdown on pacquiao. i'd pick mosley over both castillo and corrales, but let's be serious, the guy doesn't have a win worth a damn 135. let me know when pacquiao actually beats a top lightweight or even a top 130 pounder.
And Castillo beat Corrales, who beat Freitas, who beat Raheem, who beat Rocky Juarez, who beat Guty Espadas, who beat Erik Morales, who beat Pacquiao and who showed how to deal with Pacquiao. :bears:
Farce in the same sense that PBF-Chico was a farce but more brutal. The only thing that would fall more often than Corrales would be his mouthpiece but even that wouldn't help him here
Wow. I didn't realize Pacquaio was a defensive wizard. He gets his just as much as ASSelino FreitASS. He's just more compact and sharp with his offense. Pacquaio would get stopped. Even 147 Chico would stop 147 Manny.
What do you mean a Mayweather vs. Corrales was a FARCE??? It was one of the most awaited fights of that year.... I can see Corrales on his ass plenty....he always..always had problems with speedy guys..May,Casamayor...but he also had incredible punching power...more so that ANYONE Pacquiao has EVER face..... Pacquiao competition at 130 and above is NOT awesome.....other than Marquez...who has he face? The 3rd best DIAZ at 135....and a SHOT DE LA HOYA....
Honestly, anyone that thinks Chico has a chance knows nothing about boxing. Nothing. Manny stops Chico 100 out of 100 times with ease. I will put it this way. Pacman has more of a shot at a first round knockout then losing this fight. Chico has virtually no chance at any weight. Most of you guys are gay dipshits and the world would be better off without you.
dude, corrales, especially @130 and 135, was not slow. he threw lightening combinations, and his left hook wa so short it'd hit you before you knew it'd been thrown. Corrales height advanatage at thos weights would've been a huge factor too. Now, we can't forget the difficulties that Casa' lefty stance gave Corrales. would've been an awesome fight at either weight. i give corrales a better chance at 130 where his power seemed unparallelled.
castillo beat the hell out of casa. don't let casa's holding and pussy-footing pot-shotting fool you. castillo damn near stopped him in the 12th which i think was his plan.
I repeat; Above 126 Pacquiao has only beat Featherweights, David Fucking Diaz and that Joke version of DLH. I see no reason to think that a big, prime 130 pounder with huge power could beat him.
Yeah, Im sure he did. It would'nt matter though. De La Hoya punched harder than Manny @ 147 as well. Nothing matters if you don't move your head.
are you saying Manny doesn't move his head....::... like i said before this fight is 50/50....but Corrales will have to catch Pacquiao with counters coming in...because Manny Pacquiao moves his upper body tooo much for Corrales to lead with his slow ass jab...and slow right hand....COUNTER LEFT HOOKs by Corrales..while Pac comes in and out....
I think it's pretty foolish to eliminate the chance that Corrales separates Pacquiao's head from his shoulders. Pacquiao is way better, however.
Corrales' whole game was to get hurt, and then catch his opponent once he's gotten over zealous. He did it to Casamayor. He did it to Castillo. And I'm sure he did it to many others. Well, against Pacquiao, he'd have plenty of chances. In other words, he'd be hurt more than a few times, and knowing Pacquiao, he'd leave himself susceptible to Corrales' short left hook that not a single guy at 130 or 135 seemed to be able to endure. And then who knows what happens. Does Pacquiao get up?
As much as I liked Corrales, this would be a mismatch! Stick to Gatti-level fighters vs. Corrales for good matchups.
Considering Manny's proven punch resistance since he has campaigned at 126lbs and above, he southpaw stance, his speed, his power and his stamina...and then Corrales' susceptibility to straight lefts, dodgy chin, leaky defense.... No boxing analyst should pick Corrales in this matchup.
Not necessarily true. Most picking Pacquiao base it on Diego's performances against Casamayor. No matter how you slice it, Casamayor was a far better techinician that Pacquiao is. Manny has power over Casamayor but that's it. Everytime Diego caught Casamayor he badly hurt him it's just that Joel was slick enough to stay away or run out the clock. if you go back and watch the first fight, Joel was basically out on his feet at the end of the bell. I give Diego a better chance than most are giving him based on his superior power and he WOULD catch Manny more than one time. Corrales was damn good with short punches and I can't imagine a case where he doesn't catch Manny with his left hook or short chopping right hand. Manny has never faced a puncher as good as Diego, but Diego faced a MUCH better pure boxer than Manny. That alone gives Diego a damn good chance of catching Manny with some really good shit. Manny's boxing skills have improved dramatically, but against a shot Oscar with no reflexes, he looked like a better boxer than he truly is.
