His chin was always suspect even at LH but he might make a splash. Kongo vs Overeem might be good.

Overeem would be an awesome addition to the UFC hw division who is very lacking. I think he rolls over everyone in there apart from Lesnar ( if he can take a punch ). But with Overeem, it's no use making predicitons

Don't discount the talent of Frank Mir. When he's dedicated, he can be a beast. And the thing that impresses me is how improved his striking looked against Nog. Not that Nog was a whiz on his feet, but in the past I thought Mir looked like a girl punching.

I think Frank Mir can own the UFC HW Division for a while if he stays motivated and mentally tough.

Regarding Lesnar, I don't buy the whole "Next time the ref won't stop Lesnar" crap. I think Mir will still be a handful for Lesnar.

The UFC needs to make it happen. Like said before, their HW division is very lacking. They thought bringing Cro Cop in would legitimize it more and he was just too past it. Overeem is a world class HW and would definitely make some noise. I love the Overeem/Kongo fight, it would be fan friendly and interesting for sure.

Just a thought, Overeem definitely looks like a roids candidate:lol:

Agreed.Lesnar got a gift fighting an old man that came off a year layoff.I just don't see him fending off mir for 5 5 minute rounds without getting caught in a sub.

    ......

He doesn't have to. Lesnar just needs to fight smarter. He can KO Mir standing IMO. Stay away from the ground game.

I am curious to see if he can put together a strategy. So far he's just been going with the flow in there and that won't work against Mir

I agree. Lesnar just comes out like a hurricane and whatever happens, happens.

You know Mir is smart enough to learn from the first fight and have a solid game plan the next time around. Lesnar needs to do the same or Mir will exploit the holes in Lesnar's game and submit him again.

Or Lesnar's sheer size, power and athletic ability simply overwhelm Mir and end the fight quickly.

If Overeem comes to the UFC, I predict a failed drug test. I don't care what anyone says, you just don't get that fucking big by working out. He is huge now. It's ridiculous.

The herring fight is a great example of Lesnar following a game plan. Almost to a fault infact. He could have finished, but didn't get stupid like he did in the Mir fight. He did exactly what they planned on doing. Controlling Herring and keeping a dominant position.

At that point in Lesnar's career, it was a dangerous fight to take. are you seriously going to not give him any credit at all? I'm not saying Herring is great, but he's no can either. You just can't give Brock any credit at all can you?

Overeem is ok, but I'd prefer to see Kharitonov in the UFC. He beat Overeem in the rematch because he didn't suffer that freak shoulder injury again. Kharitonov would be an excellent test for Brock.

No kidding. Herring presented a pretty serious threat to Kongo in his fight immediately prior to Lesnar yet somehow Herring ISN'T a threat to Lesnar 5 months later?

Mir, Herring and Couture is a daunting trio for any MMA HW newcomer.

    WTF?

Come on BYG, you are caught in this one:lol:Earlier in the thread you say how Overeem/Kongo would be a great fight. And I agree. Now you say Herring was no test for Lesnar? Herring beat Kongo. Keep it real, Lesnar is far better than what you are making him out to be. I am not saying he's above anyone in particular, but you won't give the guy credit for beating anyone.

Lesnar attended Webster High School in Webster, South Dakota where he managed to have a 33-0 record in his senior year.[15] Lesnar later attended the University of Minnesota on a full wrestling scholarship for his junior and senior years of college; his roommate was fellow professional wrestler Shelton Benjamin who also served as Lesnar's assistant coach.[16] Lesnar won the 2000 NCAA wrestling championship as a heavyweight after placing second in 1999. Prior to joining the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Lesnar also wrestled at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, North Dakota.[3] Lesnar finished his amateur career as a two-time NJCAA All-American, two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Big Ten Conference Champion, and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college

I dare to say, there is not another fighter in the UFC that can come close to that wrestling background. You hate on him cuz he went and got paid through the WWE.
