    More Presumptive BULLSHIT...

Has Williams EVER Been Hurt N a Fight???...His Chin has Proven to B Pretty REMARKABLE Thus Far...Fuuuuuuuuuuurthermore, Williams WON the 12th Round Pretty DECISIVELY, Throwing OVER 100 Punches...

So There's Absolutely NATHAN that Suggests he'd have Been KO'ed in a 15 Round Fight w/Margarito...Other than YOUR Nuthuggery...

the difference is Margarito fought him in the first place. so you're comparing apples to oranges. you're comparing PBF's inwillingness to fight top challengers in first place with Margarito's failure thus far to stage a rematch with a guy he's already fought. as i see it, those are two very different situations.

and who could blame PBF for fighting ODH, given the chance? i don't think anyone did. and the same goes for Hatton. but for him to not fight a single top contender at 147, and even refuse a rematch with ODH? i think we all know what's going on. it's PBF hanging onto his mythical status at the world's best fighter the only way he knows how - by retiring. as i see it, his only alternative would've been to fight more scrubs like Baldomir, pretending that somehow they're more deserving of a shot at him than Williams, Margarito, Clottey or even Mosley.

an epic shock. A guy who picked Cotto brutally over Margarito, whose been shitting on margarito for years still doesn't think highly of him.

    Lets carefully examine objectivity.

I thought Cotto would destroy Margarito because his sharp counters and just being better would win the day (I thought)

As it turns out Antonio has an outrageous chin and workrate, and his pressure never slows down.

That is something to respect, and doubting Margarito in the way that has been done in this thread is insane.

Margarito was more tired after 12 rounds than Williams was, and you are right Williams won round 12 decisively.

I'd refer to Margarito as the champ at 147 because Williams don't fight there anymore. Whether he can or not is irrelevant because he's not.

LMAO@ the current James Toney beating Margarito PFP. That is 1 of the dumbest statements I have ever seen on a boxing board. James Toney needed a ridiculous gift decision even to beat Fres Oquendo. Toney at this point is shit.

it's an opinion. not presumptive bull-shit.

just as Cotto suddenly broke down, my guess is that over the course of 3 more rounds, so would've Williams.

i know it's strictly speculation. but last i checked, that's what this place is for (among otheer things).

by the way, i think margarito would've beaten Santos too had that fight been allowed to go on.

i can't convince you of either of those speculations. but i can and do make the claim that the things margarito does, the way fights, and what makes him such a tough nut to crack for any challenger, you haven't in your head to recognize.

you see a brawler with guts and durability. i see a fighter with a unique style that nullifies defenses, overcomes foot-work, and ultimately defeats challengers. for whatever reason, you don't see what he's doing in thee. you don't know why Cotto couldn't handle him (although you might think you do). that's your problem.

btw, what's hilarious is watching tito win the first 4 rounds against RJJ.

    Margarito "Nullifies Defenses" Alright...w/his CHIN:lol:...

His Defense is TERRIBLE, but his Chin is EXTRAORDINARY...Cotto Hit Margarito w/EVERY CONCEIVABLE HEADSHOT N the Book...LITERALLY...For All Your PSEUDO "Keen Eye" BULLSHIT, U DON'T See it...Yet it's OBVIOUS...

Cotto's Footwork has Always been SUBTLE, Used to Create ANGLES...Against Margarito, Cotto DIDN'T Have the STRENGTH to INFIGHT w/Margarito, Thus Using his Footwork to STAY AWAY from him...& this Took it's TOLL...Cotto's NEVER had the WHEELS of a Floyd Mayweather, so the Constant MOVEMENT + Margarito's Constant PRESSURE Eventually Wore him DOWN...

There's NATHAN the Least Bit COMPLICATED about Margarito's Style, yet U Portray him as the "Leonardo DaVinci of Pressure Fighters"...

    REED:hammert:

ps. What Does your Last Sentence have to Do w/Anything???:dunno:...REED Found it VERY HILARIOUS that a 40 Year Old Roy Jones REPEATEDLY Bounced Tito Off the Canvas, w/JABS Nonetheless...

Exactly. I think that might be one of the most moronic things I've ever read on a board too. It's up there with "Joppy lost because of the ring".

L bring it up because in the back of his head he is thinking if the Welterweight Trinidad of the 90's was around...Trinidad would nullify Margarito into submission.

i can't make you recognize it. but i can try. here's some things Tony does that befuddle his opponents, distinguish him from his peers, and without a doubt in my mind would bring him victory over PBF if PBF had the balls to face him:

    1. ability to throw combinations while moving forward
    2. ability to generate power without setting his feet
    3. ability to switch on a dime to south-paw, not unlike Tyson did in his prime
    4. extreme accuracy and power on his upper-cut, with both hands
    5. his use of a lightly thrown right-hand that acts to wind up his left
    6. obviously, power in both hands
    7. his nearly omnipresent ability to back his opponents up ( see #1) disarms his opponents body attack
    8. variety and unpredictability of his punches
    9. feints in general
    10. stamina
    11. chin
    12. height
    13. willingness to trade in the face of his opponents' assault, creating reluctance on their part (essentially defense)

Your unwillingness to give Tony crdit, I think, is an intellectual deficit. I hope. Otherwise it must be your recognition that he'd crush your retired P4P queen.

    1. It's Called a HIGH WORKRATE....MOST "Pressure Fighters" Do This...
    2. Margarito's a Naturally HEAVY HANDED Fighter who Generally Faces SMALLER Men, Thus INCREASING the Effect when he LANDS...

    3. If/When Margarito Does this, it's NOT Nearly as CALCULATED as U're Making it Seem...Andre Dirrell "Switches on a Dime" as Well...R U Gonna PRAISE HIM N your Next Post???....

    4. No Argument There...Margarito's Uppercut w/Either Hand is EXCELLENT...

    5. MOST Fighters Follow Up Right Hands w/Left Hands or Vice Versa...VERY FEW Fighters EVER Double Up on a Particular Shot, when Throwing it...The Most BASIC, Most Frequently TAUGHT Punch Sequence is LEFT Jab, RIGHT Cross, LEFT Hook (or the Southpaw Equivalent of this Combination)...U Expect REED to PRAISE Margarito for Following Up his Right Hands w/Lefts???....

    6. HEAVY HANDED, but we're NOT Talking "Hitman" Hearns Type of Power Here...

    7. It's Called a SIZE ADVANTAGE...Funny How when he Fought Paul Williams, a Man HIS SIZE, the Amount of "Backing Up" DECREASED...Moreso, Margarito "Disarms" his Opponents Body Attack w/his ELBOWS...He Keeps them TUCKED Against his Torso...

    8. MOST Volume Guys have VARIETY & Unpredictability on their Punches...
    9. SLOW Feints...But Against a Guy that can Consistently BEAT him to the Punch, All it Does it Get Margarito Hit even MORE, ala the Cotto Fight...

    10. No Arguments There...
    11. His GREATEST Asset by Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar, Especially Considering how POROUS his Defense is...

    12. Do U HONESTLY Think REED HASN'T Recognized Margarito's HEIGHT???...

    13. This is Due to his BALLS & More Importantly, his CHIN...When U BELIEVE N your Whiskers, it Does WONDERS for your WILLINGNESS to Trade N the Face of an Opponent's Assault...

EVERYTHING about Margarito's Style CENTERS AROUND # 11 on your List...Antonio Margarito DOES NOT have Good Defense...N Fact, he has BELOW Average Defense...N Every Fight Against Ranked Guys, he Gets Hit FREQUENTLY...Clottey, Williams, Six Heads, Diaz, Cintron & Cotto ALL Connected Virtually @ Will w/FLUSH Shots...

But Margarito's Chin is STOUT & Enables him to Wade Thru the Incoming...

REED ADMITTED 6 Months Ago that Margarito was an ELITE Guy & Probably ALWAYS WAS Elite...But he's Certainly NOT a "Special" or GREAT Fighter...

Speaking of "Intellectual Deficits", YOU'VE Convinced YOURSELF that Margarito's SLOTH like Handspeed/Footwork & SPONGElike Defense is by DESIGN...

 lol, Cotto will never win any such 'war' with Margarito, Cotto quit via excessive knees, that's the way to go out to avoid the backlash of "quitting in an American ring" you see?, instead of the horror that comes with quitting on your stool, you just go out there and drop onto your knee over and over again until the ref or the corner bails you out.

In the rematch I got Cotto by a dominating performance. I re-watched that fight and Cotto was tagging Margarito at will and was outclassing him. I think Cotto with the necessary adjustments will shut Margarito out when they fight again. Many people who wrote Cotto off will be in shock. Margarito is very 1 dimensional.

Yep. I just rewatched the fight (Thanks HBO On Demand) and Margarito was landing a lot more than people gave him credit for. Cotto did indeed quit via NFL kneel down.
