Martinez is pretty damn good, I agree. I think he just might beat Tall Paul, considering that he's a bigger, stronger, faster, harder hitting version of Quintana.

He's bigger, stronger, faster, hits harder, and has a different style than Quintana.

Which means he's nothing like Quintana.

They're both Hispanic, southpaws and in their 30's. :nono:

Joe Greene is out of this fight because of kidney stones, according Dan Rafael, and Anthony Thompson and Travis Simms are possible replacements:

"Not so Mean" Greene musta known of the ass whuppin that was comin his way.

Hopefully they can get Simms in as the replacement. Travis looked so promising a few years back, but I doubt he's the same fighter now that took out Garcia, and Riveria.

Thompson & Simms R Both GOOD Replacement Choices...

After Getting MUCH Hype Initially, Thompson Been Wallowing In Mediocrity...This is Probably his 1st & LAST Chance to Fulfill his Potential....& Simms is TALENTED but Incredibly INactive...This Could B his LAST Chance to Carve a MEANINGFUL Jr. Middle Niche for Himself...

Rick Reeno from Boxingscene is reporting that Sergio Martinez has agreed to terms to face Daniel Santos on Feburary 14th on HBO...and that "(s)ources in Puerto Rico believe that Santos will accept the fight."

Now that is a real fight, but my guess is HBO will turn it down, because it makes too much sense. They´ll probably demand Thompson or Simms. :kick:

Damn if its true then Feb 14th is one HELLUVA good triple header! I'll take Martinez over Santos. I think he's a bit too fast, but Santos can punch so its a highly interesting fight.

    Good fight.

Martinez is very good, but Santos is not an easy man to beat.

    I'd tentatively pick Martinez.

HBO has every reason to approve this fight. Martinez is Vernon Forrest's mandatory challenger. Sending him in another direction means HBO helps free up Forrest from such a fight, which goes down as yet another favor to Al Haymon.

So who in the fuck is Forrest fighting next? I dont even think Vernon is serious about his career anymore. Seems to me as if he's just waiting around for a big money fight to come his way, but he shouldnt hold his breath cause he aint getting a big money fight anytime soon. He's not a marketable guy. So either he should start fighting real challengers(like Martinez) or just stop wasting everybody's time and just fuckin retire.

As a fan of the viper, Its pretty much true although I would like to see him against williams, or maybe he's hoping to hang around until a HBO friendly fighter like angulo or kirkland is ready for a title shot

    Maybe not.

santos probably weighs around 185 right about now. februrary is too soon for him to lose all that weight.

Although I would bet you are right, whether it is or isn't doesn't matter.

You can't have your fighter going into a fight with such a huge mental handicap as the ghost of a previous loss under similar circumstances and the fighter acknowledging the ghost. Even if Santos changed his mind, and it doesn't look like he will, I wouldn't let him fight in Feb.

Martinez seems a little bit overhyped around the boxing media and boxing fans alike. It wouldn't surprise me to see him on his ass regardless of who he's fighting. He's a cutie with really nothing solid in his resume.

  24. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Well he wasnt gonna be put on his ass by Joe Greene. Greene sucks! He's an even bigger fraud than James Kirkland is. Santos on the other hand would have a good chance vs Martinez due to his power. But looks like now Martinez will end up fighting Forrest next, in which case I'm picking Sergio. Old man Forrest cant deal with a quick silver southpaw at this point IMO. Martinez is gonna make him look his age.
