If you could take guys from outside the UFC/WEC and have them fight guys inside the UFC/ WEC . Very hypothetical here, but just styles more than anything. I would love to see Frankie Edgar make the move to 145 in the WEC. I think he wipes his ass with everyone in the division. But most importantly, I would love to see him brutalize Faber.artie:
Heavyweight: Lesnar vs. Arlovski Fedor is head and shoulders above all the other heavy's, so I left him out. Arlovski, in theory, is way too experienced a fighter to throw someone like Lesnar in with, but Lesnar's the champ, so he doesn't get a pass. Lesnar's dropped everyone he's faced, and Arlovski's chin in the MMA equilavent of Maurice Blocker, so it would be an interesting matchup. 205: Vladimir Matushenko vs. Forrest Griffin Not a lot of great 205ers outside of the UFC, so I'll go with Matushenko, who hasn't lost in a few years ( I think Arlovski was his last loss, I could be wrong), against Griffin, who's always in a good fight. 185: Anderson Silva vs. Robbie Lawler Silva would probably be too much for Lawler, but Lawler would make a go of it. I think that would be a fun fight, and with Silva already cleainging out most of the UFC's 185ers, it makes sense to bring in Lawler and make this fight happen. 170: GSP vs. Jake Shields GSP is in the top 3 or 4 P4P, and Shields looked great in EliteXC, dominating some pretty decent fighters. I just don't think Shields has the right style to beat GSP though. 155: Eddie Alvarez vs. Tyson Griffin In spite of his loss to Aoki, Alvarez is still the man, and while Griffin isn't considered elite, his fights usually steal the show. The 2 best fights of 2008 were Alvarez fights, so you know this would be fight of the year. 145: Uriah Faber vs. Frankie Edgar I still think Faber's loss was a fluke and he's still the best 145er. Edgar is too small to be truly effective at 155, as we saw against Maynard, but he's a great fighter. He could be a force at 145. There's no reason this matchup shouldn't be made. TFK
great fights all around. Lawler's name seems to be left out when talking about quality opponents for Anderson. I agree that Anderson would prove to be the better fighter, but Lawler would go out on his shield for sure. Mousasi would be interesting in the mix there as well. i like the fight with Alvarez and Griffin, but for some reason the first time I saw Eddie fight, I remember thinking a fight with him and Koshchek would be great. Not really an Arlovski fan, but the matchup against Lesnar is interesting. Myself would rather see Lesnar matched against someone with similar size and strength, Josh Barnett comes to mind. Matushenko/Forrest sounds interesting, not really a fight I am just sure would be a foty candidate. But hey, I would'n't be upset if they did go:: I love Frankie Edgar, but is he the only guy that doesn't see how dominant he could be at 145? I think a fight with Frankie and Kid Yamamoto at 145 would be definitely a FOTY candidate:cheer:
GREAT Fights... Lesnar's Shown BETTER Hand Skills than Most Expected, but it's DOUBTFUL he'd Want to STAND w/Arlovski for Any Extended Period of Time...Arlovski would B the Biggest, IN-SHAPE Fighter Lesnar's Ever Faced (Herring & Mir were Both PUDGY)...Would B a VERY Interesting Fight for as Loooooooooooong as it Lasted... If Nathan Else, Robbie Lawlor can BANG...REED Recalls Silva Being on the Ground EATING Headshots from Lutter...If Lawlor Managed to Get Silva N THAT Type of Predicament, he'd POUND him Out...But Silva would have a DECIDED Edge N the SPEED of his Strikes... Shields has the Level of TRUE Confidence that U HAVE to Bring into a Fight w/GSP...But GSP Seems to B BETTER N just about Every Regard... REED:hammert:
Miguel Torres V BJ Penn Cung Le V Anderson Silva and I would like to see how Lesnar would deal with Fedor...
Brock Lesnar vs Hong Man Choi Anderson Silva vs Gerard Mousasi Uriah Faber vs Norifumi "KID" Yamamoto BJ Penn vs Shinya Aoki
Man, I can't believe the thought of Penn/Aoki never crossed my mind. It could be boring to the casual fan, but that could be one of the best "chess match" type fights Lesnar Vs Choi would be like one of the old Pride "freak show" matches, I'd love it and so would all of Japanopcorn:
Choi was actually supposed to be Lesnar's opponant when he made him MMA debut a few years ago. But Choi failed his physical, a think a was a tumor on his pituitary gland, and the CSAC wouldn't let him fight. So he was replaced by Min Soo Kim. TFK
GSP-Penn is already happening, so Im basically happy. Anderson Silva vs Rampage would be much fun, IMO.
