I had never seen that KO

that Hawk guy was looking like a good fighter until then..LOL

Sugar Ray is an all time great

I'm thinking right now how badly he would beat up on Margarito

Minati I suggest you watch the St. Valentines Day massacre. Theres NO current fighter in the world who throws combos like Robinson did. And like REED said, for his time he was amazing. But nevermind for his time, he'd be the most talented fighter in the world today also. Compared to Leonard, I think Leonard was quicker on his feet than Robinson. Handspeed is pretty damn even, but Robinson was clearly the bigger puncher of the two, and perhaps with a more sturdy chin.

    Absolutely a more sturdy chin. I don't even think it's a question.

I agree about the combos, but Terry Norris was a crisper combination hitter than Robby, but Robby was more fluid in his delivery, but Terry followed through better.

At 147, Leonard and Robby could have held their own with any welterweight, or even middleweight.

But when all is said and done, give me Mantequilla over all of them.

Ive never seen Robinson at welter, but I wouldnt pick Napoles over Leonard at 147. I wouldnt pick him over Hearns either.

And Terry Norris threw brilliant combinations, and with excellent speed and technique. Norris probably had slightly better technique than Robby, but I think Robinson had faster hands than Norris.

i think your leaving out floyd mayweather....i think his punching technique is superb..especially when throwing shots from a defensive position

None mentioned Floyd. But yeah Floyd's technique is superb. But in terms of being a combination puncher, Floyd isnt amongst the best there. Leonard, Robinson, and Norris threw better combos than Floyd. I think all three had faster hands than Floyd as well. Floyd's handspeed was never his best asset IMO. His footspeed, and reflexes were more impressive than his handspeed, at least IMO. Of course, his hands were VERY quick, but in this era I'd have to say that Roy, Mosley, and even choking ass Zab all had faster hands than Floyd.

well...you see..im not so sure...i think the other fighters mentioned most def. throw many more combos then floyd which might make them appear to be better then him..i just think floyd is such a careful fighter that he is reluctant to let his hands go like the other fighers mentioned so we might assume he isnt as good a combo puncher...in terms of speed...thats really hard to figure out who is faster then who until they get into the ring....i can't honestly say that i'm sure leonard would have faster hands then floyd if they fought in the ring..i guess i would have to see with my own eyes

floyd fought zab though...an in the beginning zab looked a bit faster but IMO thats because he was the braver fighter...but as floyd settled in he started out outspeed judah

    just my opinion

Agreed. Floyds assets are his straightness of delivery his ring smarts and he is suprosingly strong. Hand speed is not all that.

Leonard's handspeed would have been a HUGE problem for Floyd, just as it was a huge problem for Benitez. Wilfred was quick as hell in his own right, yet Ray's handspeed for the most part took him out the fight, and made Benitez more concerned with avoiding punches rather than trying to throw back. I think the same would have happened to Floyd against Leonard.

And Floyd didnt outspeed Judah. He outhought him, and was able to time Zab who tired and mentally broke down. In terms of actual handspeed, Zab was faster.

Yup. The two ways to beat speed are to deliver one's own punches straight (which Floyd does) and to constantly be at an angle to the opponent with footwork and timing which...... Foyd does.

Doesnt matter. Even looking at the clip where he's hitting the heavy bag is impressive. Theres no fighter currently who's as fast, and fluid as Robinson.

They used to compare Mosley to Robinson, and Shane may have had comparable handspeed, but Shane was never as fluid with his combos as Robby.

I agree what is amazing about Floyd is his ability to stand in the pocket and not get hit but hit whoever is in front of him. It's his defense that makes him stand out.

it's hard to say.. Floyd has an amazing defense. It's something that it hard to quantify to do a mythical matchup with.

Of course after watching that Price clip I had to watch the Davey boy Green wipeout. That was brutal. As for the Hawk Price guy I don't remember him but he had to be cosindered decent seeing that Cosell said he had wins over both Palamino and Pipino Cuevas.

I hate Ray Leonard with a fanatic's passion, but he was one of the best and he truly had it all. I just think he is an unbearable phony... manipulative, insincere, conniving

Awesome fighter, and Hagler has no one to blame but himself for losing that fight. He gave away the first four rounds and it cost him (though everytime I watch it, I still come away with him beating Leonard)

The fact that it was THAT COMPETETIVE after such a layoff (even with the 12 rounds and the big ring, blahblahblah) is a measure of how great a fighter he was

Awesome fighter, deserves credit, but he is an unscrupulous scumbag
