dsimon writes: Thats true. Altough I can't really imagine how Pac and Hatton match up... Its hard to say how strong Manny is. This is important because withFloyd for example if you look carefully it is obvious that Floyd is strong inside and underrated strength... this became a big factor in the fight with Hatton... I just don't know about Pacman.
It hasn't been tested seriously yet. Hatton won't test it either with his constant holding and constant eating of Pacs left/right hand. Only thing that worries me if Pac fights Hatton is if his hands hold up from hitting Hatton so much.
It;s not going to be tested? Hatton throws 80 punches a round for all 12 rounds, motherfucker. Talk about holding and clinching or whatever but pac will be getting hit with lead rights coming in and a lot of infighting. If you think the DLH "fight" was an indication of how pac can do in the higher weights, you're sadly mistaken. Take a look at Pac's face after taking three rounds of Hatton's body shots and you're going to see a whole other story. Hatton MAULS this little bitch with ease.
there are 2 advantages that hatton might have....he might have a weight advantage unlike hoya who was OUTWEIGHED BY A PITBULL LOOKING PACMAN.......also..hatton might able to use some physical strength out there UNLIKE HOYA WHO LOOKED PHYSICALLY WEAKER against Pacman we shall see
pacquiao is a fag and so are his clueless advisors. hopefully this fight still comes to fruition w/ that 52-48 split. hatton will fuck him up badly.
Hatton needs to be his OLD self again...come in swinging..... clinch...push people around...make it as dirty as hell...don't let Manny have any room to launch himself..w/ the jab/straight left combo...be on him from the start... Hope Hatton doesn't think he would outbox Pacquiao...that isn't happening...he needs to take the fight to Pacquiao..
i can't see pacquiao fighting effectively on the inside. he has upped his inside game, but at the same time, hatton will hold superiority when the two are either near the ropes or fighting at close quarters. manny's best chance is shoot his straight left from the outside, but i just can't see how he'll be able to prevent hatton from coming in. it's not like mayweather had a walk in the park with hatton's aggression. this fight is going to be physical and pac will be in a world of trouble when he finds out how strong hatton really is.
He doesn't need to prevent him coming in. Hatton will come right at Pacs straight left. It's just a case of how long it takes Pac to knock him out with that punch.
That has seriously become the most over-rated punch in boxing...because of the DLH fight. Because DLH kept walking forward, with his gloves up, defensively, without throwing a lot of punches, and because his reactions were too slow. Hatton ain't like that. He accepts punches. Yeah, often times too many punches, and he kepts his head up and his hands down too much, but he throws punches despite the fact that punches are coming his direction. He'll take a punch to land one. This separates him from DLH, and some other recent Pacquiao opponents. Pacquiao isn't like that...not with his power punches, not to the same extent. His instincts are to move his feet, to move his waist, to cover up. And he's usually more selective with his punch output...but he was so effective against DLH because, with the difference in speed, he didn't have to be that cognizant of DLH's offensive output...especially as the fight wore on. Pacquiao throws most of his meaningful power punches with his body coming forward....so the Collazo and Mayweather comparisons aren't great, IMO. And when he punches moving forward, his chin often follows, and he is out of position for what's coming back at him. With Hatton, he often comes forward when he punches, but he's bringing punches with more angles, and because he will allow himself to get hit more without covering up, he will land more than many Pacquiao opponents...not always cleanly, but with physicaly strength, and he will get close because of it, and when he gets close, it should be to his advantage. To me, this has the looks of twelve difficult rounds for Pacquiao...win or lose.
hatton's more vulnerable to hooks and uppercuts while he comes in. he won't be affected by pac's straight lefts unless he stands on stationary mode and gets hit over and over.
Even though I am firmly of the belief that Hatton is in reasonably steep decline, he is far more live than Oscar proved to be here. One of the major factors was that the tranny was massively weight drained, whereas Hatton at 140lb remains a beast- strong as hell and huge at the weight. He's going to have what most expected Oscar to have; a true weight advantage and the ability to put it to the kind of use he's done for over a decade now. If he tries to outbox Manny then he get's popped, but I can't for a second imagine he will. He'll come in (with vastly underrated footspeed btw) throwing jabs and hooks and lean on Pac like Manny won't believe. Once in there, Hatton has all the aces IMHO. Until Manny fights and beats a legitimate, top-level oppo at 140 or 147 there is no logical reason to pick Manny to beat Hatton. It's like those who picked RJJ to beat Calzaghe because RJJ beat Tito and looked decent in doing so; another shot, weight-fucked fighter in it for the money and fighting a glorified exhibition match. And let's not be pretending that Manny isn't declined himself; even some of his fiercest fans here have agreed to that (albeit he is far, far better off than RJJ was of course)... People are reading far too much into Manny's last win and nowhere near enough into what the golden punch bag did (or didn't) bring to the party that night IMHO. I'm not saying Manny can't win, because he can and he might because he is a fucking freak of nature and a fabulous fighter. But he is NOT the logical pcik here at all... MTF :dunno:
I wouldnt put the house on a stoppage if I were you,.. Pacquioa landed everything he threw at De La Hoya, and although his shots look quick and flashy, they were merely puffy little taps, De La Hoya would have been smacked onto his arse against ALL the top welterweights if they were allowed to unload on him at will,.. Fraud stopped Hatton, but it was the perfect shot on the tip of the chin as Hatton flew into it big time which amplified the damage, and besides which, Fraud is of genuine welterweight size, Pacquioa isnt.
Hatton has been hurt vs every southpaw Ive seen him fight. Eamon Magee hurt him back in the day... Collazo hurt him, and I think Juan Urango hurt him to the body. And even at Hoya's advanced age, he STILL has a better chin than Hatton. Everybody think its Manny's straight left thats gonna hurt Hatton, I think they're wrong. I think its the "Manilla Ice"(right hook) thats gonna do the most damage to Get Hitman.
the latest news even after the so called 55-45 split is that Hatton's team are ready to walk away from the fight. opcorn: http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=17990
Good now Hatton can fade into obscurity, he ain't shit without Pac. We can get the real fights Pac-JMM 3, Pac-Valero or Pac-Money May.
Nonsense The Maghee KD was a flash KD and Hatton was up in about a second. Urango hurt him in the same sense that ANYONE is hurt when someone punches then :: and Collazo had Hatton hurt and knackered but couldn't even drop him let alone stop him. Hatton has been KD three times in40-odd fights and been stopped once, but he has a weak chin? MTF :dunno:
agREED on the Pac part. As far as Hatton is concerned... I'm sure the stench of Hatton-DLH will eventually surface. A nice big fat money grab for everyone, one in which writers will feel obligated to not only cover, but lend their unwavering support. The storyline will go a little something like: Oscar at the end of his career, Hatton ineffective beyond junior welterweight... something has to give. If not that, then some other joke of an event for which G will find a way to stick their hands in everyone's pockets.
....if the fight doesn't happen...then Hatton should turn his attention towards Marquez-Diaz winner......but i guess that is what Manny would be looking at too........guess Marquez (yes, he will win) will go for the bigger offer.....then we will really see who brings more to the table, the Hitman or the Pacman
So who he gonna fight now? No big names at 140. All the big names at 147 and they are way too dangerous.
Golden Boy can get spiteful and just freeze out Pacquiao altogether, instead keep everything in house. Under that scenario, then Hatton-Marquez would be the next step. I guess it depends on who they love more, Hatton or Marquez. A fight at 140 SHOULD be an easy win for Ricky, as I believe the division to be one too many for JMM. But damn, at this point even Arum is pissed at Pacquiao, or at least those "advising" him that the fight is worth more than purse parity.
