And win or lose, nobody will give a fuck. Pac-Hatton is a fight that would have gotten press and attention on Sportscenter, and from others in the general media. Pac-Valero is a fight that only us hardcore fans care about.
if pac loses, people will give a fuck. it would be a huge upset and valero will become a force to reckon with. i'm sure espn would provide coverage. plus, who cares about the publicity that boxing gets these days.
Valero's Done NATHAN to Deserve a Fight w/Pac...He's an UNPROVEN (@ Best) Fighter w/an INFLATED Record... Pac-Hatton is MUCH More Meaningful & Important... REED:hammert:
well, no one's disputing that. pac and his handlers are dumbasses for fucking up this hatton fight. and imagine if pac actually loses to valero.
That's all good and grand... but Hatton is boring. I didn't say I would way rather see it and you all should too.
If they're going to put together the Hatton fight, they're going to have to rush it because the media tour was supposed to start next week.
Mainstream attention ain't shit. I don't care about mainstream boxing retards that watch 1 fight a year then talk shit about boxing. As a hardcore fan ill take Pac-Valero all day over Pac-RH. It's a much better fight.
I wonder whether Pac - Valero is all that, it might have been some years ago, but lord knows what level valero is as of now, its been 2.5 years since he fought anyone half decent. Hatton at least has a claim to be the best at 140, its lineal for what its worth. I'd much rather see Hatton - Pacquaio, maybe stick valero on the undercard against a dangerous opponent so that we can see if he's more than a myth at this point.
I agree wholeheartedly, and have been saying so for a year now. Problem is Valero has not proven himself enough nor has he been hyped enough. Another problem you have Hatton and Mayweather who are WAY bigger and more significant fights not just from a media standpoint but from the boxing standpoint as well. Valero needs to fight some upper level competition in the US, on television, and he also needs to look impressive in doing so before we talk about Pac-Valero as a serious fight that is going to happen
That would be after the fact. I think it matters when Hatton-Pac was arguably the biggest fight in the sport heading into this year - among active fighters - and instead, you have one that'll do a fraction of the numbers expected for that fight. It's like going from the Super Bowl to a first round playoff game, if not the regular season. I'd think, given the state of boxing, most people who follow the sport would care what publicity it gets.
Hey, if they can make Mayweather/Pacquiao, obviously everything else should wait. That's the fight of the decade as far as I'm concerned. But at this point, as a hardcore fan, give me Valero over Hatton any day.
i agree sadly it seems tho that it is goign to require Pac-Hatton to happen for Mayweather-Pac to happen down the road.
REED just DOESN'T Understand that Line of Thinking, Steve-Dave...What EXACTLY has Valero Done???:dunno:...He's Got a MANUFACTURED KO Ratio & By Most Accounts, his Chin is SHAKY @ Best.... Ricky Hatton's 1 of the 10 BEST Fighters N the World, he's PROVEN Against Elite Opposition & He's Coming Off an IMPRESSIVE Performance...There's Toooooooo Much "What If" Involved w/Valero...What if he's NOT as Good as Advertised???...What if his Power is SHIT Against an ELITE Guy???...What if he FOLDS the 1st Time Manny Applies REAL Pressure on him???.... For all we Know, Valero could B a 1st Round KO VICTIM... By Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar, Ricky Hatton's the More Meaningful & Important Fight...By Hardcore AND Mainstream Standards...w/Out Question, Pac-Valero is a CONSOLATION Prize Compared to Pac-Hatton... REED:mj:
i know that it's a buzzkill from the hatton fight, but i don't seem to recall too many folks complaining about the david diaz fight. i guess it's gotten to a point where pacquiao has acquired some sort of invincibility after beating that pathetic version of oscar and expectations are now running high. it shouldnt be too bad if pac vs. valero landed on regular hbo.
Keep PERSPECTIVE N Mind, Joony... When Pac was Moving Up to Face Diaz, he was TESTING the Lightweight Waters & Presumably COULDN'T Make 130 Anymore...Since it was Unknown How Manny would Fare @ 135, Nobody Bitched... But on that Same Note, NOBODY Knew that an Impressive VICTORY over DeLa was on the Horizon Either...& while it May Not B a POPULAR Opinion, David Diaz is MORE Proven than Valero is...N Fact, REED would Rather See Valero Prove HIMSELF Against a Diaz Type, B 4 Jumping Headfirst into a Manny Pac Fight... REED:hammert:
well considering that even majority of the hardcore fans aren't liking this fight, i guess it makes sense for valero to fight on a televised undercard of some sort. valero would splatter diaz into pieces. katsidis is another perfect opponent who would make valero look impressive. the fight i want to see valero vs. casamayor.
Well, there were those who wanted to see Pacquiao-Marquez III and mentioned how Pac took less money to fight Diaz. Valero could be a good fight, even with his deficiencies, I agree with that....and that Pac's enjoying a standard bump in polls after beating DLH.
& That's All REED is Saying... Who Knows, Valero MAY BE The Goods, but REED hasn't Seen Enough to Say Either Way...Tough, HITTABLE Guys like Diaz or Katsidis would Definitely REVEAL Something about Valero.... REED:hammert:
Would it be worth the delay for the build-up? If Hatton's out and Mayweather ain't available/negotiable, it would seem Arum would want Pac to fight at least in May, if not earlier...which would rule out a showcase fight for Valero. There's always Humberto Soto Arum could fall back on, I guess.
I wouldn't mind seeing Pacman fight Valero if only to stun the idiots that think Valero is an elite fighter. Valero wouldn't be competitive with Pacman, let alone win. Pacman would stop him in 4 or 5 one sided rounds.
Could someone think Valero isn't necessarily an elite fighter and still think he gives Pac problems? Or is it only elite fighters that can do that?
They could. I'm talking about the people who for a year or 2 have said Valero would beat Pacman. Including Joony, but of course, as the fight is now a possibility, he's backtracking :: I'm of the opinion that Valero would get a brutal, 1 sided arse kicking from Pacman.
See, I don't believe Hatton is one of the 20 best fighters in the world. I just don't care about Hatton at all. Not even a little bit. I think he's boring, and in 2009 on a world class level, I think he sucks. Valero has never gone the distance in his career. I've been wanting to see what he has against the best for years now, and if they can make a fight with Pacquiao it would be a dream come true for me. Pacquiao/Valero has been at the very top of my wish list for at least three years now. It's a personal preference for me.
I'm a Pacquiao fan and while his win over DLH was impressive, I wonder why PBF gets criticized for his win over DLH. PBF fought Floyd at a higher weight also and when DLH was in better shape for sure. Hatton gets KTFO by PBF and all of a sudden he's a bum. Yeah he struggled with Collazo but you saw that Berto did as well and Berto has many more physical gifts than Hatton and is bigger. Yet, no one will give Hatton credit for beating up Malignaggi, some have even said Malignaggi was "tailor made for Hatton". Please. Pacquiao vs Hatton at 140 is a toss up fight and would be a war while it lasts. It's a shame it's not going to happen immediately.
Floyd fights defensive first, not exactly something everyone wants to see, considering Pac beat the fight out of him and everyone wanted to see DLH get a beating of that caliber, that would be your answer. Hatton used to not hold and wrestle, and leap in from the outside with shots, but thats how he fights now. You never know when the grappler will come out of him, not something a fight fan looks forward to. Ever since Eamon Magee and then the most grappling came against Tszyu. I've been disgusted by Hatton before.
