Vargas was a corpse in the rematch.

Putting it in perspective, this was his best win. Yes, the Oscar 1 fight might have been the biggest win, but he did not give a beating to Oscar like he did tonight to the number 1 147 pounder. He beat Oscar in a competitive fight. I still think he lost the second fight to Oscar, so this enhances Oscars legacy. :hammert:

Margarito's eyes looked DRAWN at the weighin. He came in at less than 146.

At his interview before the fight he said he thought Mosley was coming to box. First MISTAKE. Mosley boxes when he has to, but he throws POWER shots with his feet well planted.

There so many greats fights to made at welter. Mayweather has called Mosley a sparring partner level fighter. I think he is ready to step up now the he is THE welter champion.

    Pacquaio waiting in the wings....

....he is, but this fight was not the fight to prove it....Margarito is easy enough to hit when he is not hurt....he was an open target, wasn't offering any threat of his own, and wasn't even trying to hold.......i guess he has never found himself in that position before, hence he turned into a welterweight wlad

Who was the RING champion? Margarito was doing something, even when in dire trouble, he was SMILING. He had no other ANSWER to what was happenning to him.

But there are a lot of fights yet to happen in the division to prove who the last man standing is. I just hope they get MADE.

    Here we go....

NO excuses can be made for Sloth tonight! Not with as many distractions as Shane had coming into this fight, and being 37.

It's NOT an excuse. Don't get me wrong. You make the weight, you ready. But he certainly didn't look strong.

No discredit to Mosley who won EVERY round.

Yes, Shane is one of the best finishers for sure.

Margarito sure wasn't smiling in th 9th. This was a great performance by Shane and I hope he can follow up on it.

It was the same old Margarito, no more, no less. He got beat up something fierce tonight.

great win for mosley. the BEST of his career. it trumps decisioning delahoya who was coming off 3 lackluster welterweight fights. personally I didn't think margarito was at his best, and I even told his manager that I thought he was slightly on the downside of his career going INTO the cotto fight, after several tough bouts (prior* to cotto). nonetheless it was a tremendous win for mosley who basically shut up, pissed off, befuddled &ruined the evenings of 15,000+ margarito fans. a sight to behold. azucar!

I think Margarito took at least two rounds. He seemed to be getting the upper hand in the 9th actually when he lost his balance and Mosley landed perfectly on his chin. Then Mosley finished it in awesome fashion

It truly is disappointing when you think about how great this generations welterweight division could have been in history. Floyd could have had so many history making fights if his mind was in it. It is so similar to the era of Leonard/Hagler/Duran/Hearns. We could have had Floyd/Shane/Marg/Williams/Cotto and even throw hatton and Pac in there. It could have been a great era for boxing if they would have all fought each other.

Mosely is seriously legit at 147

That's possibly the dumbest thing you've ever said.

Vargas was beyond shot in the rematch.

Hatton doesn't BELONG in the welter division. He loses to EVERYONE mentioned.

So far the only one MIA is Floyd and Williams, the latter only fighting Margarito and winning. Shane lost to Cotto, who lost to Antonio. Perhaps a rematch between Shane Cotto is in order.

This is true. If Shane hurts somebody they are in huge trouble. I love the way Shane goes crazy to get people out of there. Especially when out of the ring he is one of the calmest nicest people you could ever meet.

Marge won 1 round, round 7, and even that round could have gone to Shane.

What round did Marge win other than round 7?

Round two was close one and one other (I think 5th) Mosley stole with a flurry in the end. He was clearly in command but the surprise element made it seem even bigger than it was

I thought he won the first 6 rounds clearly, beyond argument. You need to watch round 2 again, Marge didn't come close to winning that.

I gave him round 7, but even that was somewhat of a sympathy round.

agreed, I think a rematch with Cotto is definitely in order. I think Williams days at 147 are behind him, he may fight someone at 154.
