I would usually say retirement....but he look tooooo good tonight... Smartest idead would be a rematch vs. Cotto...or Hatton if he can bring him up to Welter...unlilkely though...
Bob Arum won't be pursuing Shane to fight either Cotto or Margarito again. Berto would be a nice one and more plausible because they've fought in back to back weekends (or close to it)
I dunno... but I feel bad that I doubted his greatness for years. I was VERY wrong. Larry Merchant said it best about him, soon as he had stopped Sloth. "Can that man FIGHT!" This win tonight makes Shane an all time great!:bears:
IF Cotto look fine vs. the bum next month?? Why not a rematch vs. Mosley....Cotto already beat him once....he would do it again....
The way in which he did it makes im an all time great. Kind of worried he will blow it with a loss against a not great fighter though. Almost wish he would retire.
I admire your support for your countryman, but do you think Arum would RISK Cotto/Margarito 2 in place of a rematch for either one with Shane??:dunno:
He risk Cotto vs. Margarito I a year ago when he had Cotto fighting Mosley before the Margarito fight......:dunno:
They can both be KTFO by scrubs and there still can be a rematch because he manages both fighters. Now that BOTH of his marquee fighters have lost though, do you think he will risk what's left of the luster that Margarito/Cotto 2 has???
At the press conference he gave no specific name, but his eyes lit up when Kevin Iole mentioned Cotto.
And that in a nutshell sums up what I've always loved about Shane. The Cotto fight was brutal, but Shane wants him again. The dude is just a fighter.
