So yeah everyone thinks that Cotto got exposed when he fought Margarcheato, and maybe he was.

    But....

What if Margarcheato DID have illegal handwraps in that fight? I mean if he was going to use them against Mosley, then certainly he would have with Cotto. If Tony used illegal handwraps with Cotto, then Cotto has to be one tough dude, bc he took some hella wicked punishment in there and still fought on. So is he actually tougher than we all think and just got beat by a guy who cheated OR did Tony ruin him?:dunno:

Regardless I don't think the less of Cotto. He learned a lesson. I think Cotto comes into fights too fucking small frankly. If he wants to fight bigger welters he needs to train for it. I also think he did not clinch and totally ignored the body and he lost his first fight because of it. He took a beating but gave one also. Margarito will not go down from an assault to the top, Shane's body attack killed the head and Cotto has the nest body attack he needs to be strong enough and durabe enough to use it!

Having said that the handwraps are an issue... It is disturbing to think about.

Cotto fought the wrong fight but this does bring up some controversy. Unfortunately for Cotto the damage has already been done. Mosley fought a perfect fight. Miguel can and will wax Margarito in a rematch. Cotto is a much better overall fighter.

No. Cotto's not better than we think. He had no answer for the relentless pressure and had pretty piss poor defense.

Margacheato should be suspended for at least a year.

Everybody is both better and worse than you think...it just depends on when you're thinking it.

Cotto needs to stop being so fucking Macho or maybe he just never learn how to clinch....but he needs to do more of it....

Mosley is the GREATNESS though...i never really cared about him...but what he did last night was INCREDIBLE......

    IMO his greatest performance EVER....

NO....He had an answer to relentless pressure for 6-7 rounds.....and IMO he showed tooo much defense against Margarito he should've been on his chest all fight long like Mosley did....

True. Mosley clinched at the right time and it wasn't the hugging/boring type of clinching. He did it right where the referee was in position to see it and force him to seperate them. That let Margarito walk into his full power shots. I thought it was one of his best performances physically and his best tactically for sure.

Lets be real here, all clinching sucks, mate and it shouldn't be allowed. What Shane did last night was smart, no denying that...but I still wish we had consistency in officiating, because Berto got butchered for that shit the week before and I liked that officials interpretation of the rule.

He got hit way too many times and this has been a problem in a lot of his fights. He relies on his legs to get him out of the way. His hand/arm blocking defense is terrible IMO.

It's a topic for a different thread, but I agree with you. A clinching "standard" should be enforced. I don't think it should be totally outlawed, but that referee's interpretation made for a much better fight.
