Based on Shane's resurrection in the last few years, isn't it safe to say his "performance enhancing" drug use didn't HELP his performance?

If you look at Marion Jones, her personal best were BEFORE she admitted to using. The same goes for Shane last night. Prior to the 1st Vargas fight, Shane hadn't KO'd anyone in 4 years...now he's had 4 in his last 6 fights.

Is it possible that top tier athletes received no benefit from what Conte was selling?

Shane seems like a standup guy. I don't think he would knowingly use anything illegal. The BALCO people were trying to bring EVERYONE down with them.

F*(K HBO for bringing this up before the fight. They shit on their own card last night. Lampley was BRAGGING about the handwrap situation.

Word. I wanted to kick Larry Merchant in the mouth for bringing this and Shane's divorce to the boxer's mind just minutes before the fight.:notallthere:

Not to diminish Shane's win, but boxing is a mental game as much as a physical game at that level. If the plastered handwraps controversy is true, which seems highly likely right now, by catching Margarito, Mosley gained an incredible psychological edge on top of the advantages he already knew he had , i.e. handspeed, boxing skills, footspeed... Can you imagine in what mental state Margarito was after being caught while cheating? I don't think he was able to get that out of his head during the fight, especially if he has been doing that for a long time...

The commission took some evidences and will analyse it, I look forward to know if it is really an issue or if it was only a technical detail before passing final judgement.

Mosley fought worse when he was on steroids. He was very stiff.

I have to warn you. You might have to testify in court, if you know for which fights Mosley took roids and for which he didn´t. You guys crack me up.

    EPO isn´t even a steroid.

Muzse, I'm gonna give you top marks for effort, but Shane was and is a user of illegal drugs to enhance his performance. He's probably on something new that will come out to the public in a few years...just like Balco. And Shane will probably not know he's doing anything wrong then either.

This is the most appropriate response. I'm glad I deleted my initial response and read what others had said first.

Amazing. Yeah, lets forget that Mosley took banned substances to cheat and focus on the dude with the supposedly bad handwraps. :bears:

Pretty sure the evidence was he was taking roids and EPO before the 2nd ODLH fight.

I think it should be handled the same way you handle it when you go in to buy a new car. Automatically assume the other guy is gonna try to cheat and fuck you, and then you go in and try to do it first. Who knows who the first person to use performance-enhancing drugs was, but that person wasn't the last. Shane went in an old man last night (according to fans and popular boxing opinion), and he came out a destroyer. The man looked the greatest I've ever seen him, and that's saying a lot.

If drugs made the person, then there'd be thousands or millions of Sugar Shanes. There's only one, and he handled business last night in the best form of his life.:bears:

If drugs didn't help, you wouldn't have thousands or millions of people replicating those methods, like Sugar Shane.

I knew someone would bring this up and it is a valid point. Unfortunately I was half hoping it didn't get brought up because it takes a bit of "Unpacking." It will have to be broached sooner of later sufice to say there is a difference imo.

The last few years have nothing to do with whether he took something, and benefitted from it, previously.

Mate, when this shit is out in the open and we get something more than a blowup from Mosley's trainer and a commission staffer, I'll decide then.

Honestly, right now Im not worrying about it. If it's real, it'll be back in the news shortly.

yes a fight inwhich he looked fucking horrible. people want to act as if this was a similar case as when james toney wiped the floor with ruiz or when ben johnson broke the world record. mosley looked as bad in that fight as any other in his career aside from the first forrest bout and the holiday fight.

he's incompetant if not crooked like laurence cole's pops. I agree that we people should wait and see for more facts to come out before delcaring margarito a cheat. maybe he is, we shall see.

Let me ask a question. What can potentially cause more harm to fighters. Would it be the taking of steroids or forming a cast in your glove. I mean we know the long term effects of what roids will do to an individual but will roids make a guy into a world class athlete/boxer. Meaning if my boy Augie Sanchez juiced up for the Naz fight would that have made his chin any stronger? Or if he had wrapped his hands illegally in a cast like substance would that have caused more damage? I guess more research will have to be done to decide which cheating tactic gives fighters the better edge. I'll Holla 5000

    It's all Im saying.

I lump them all together. From Gomez, Azumah and Pedroza, to Toney, Vargas and Morrison. Cheating is cheating.

Not true. Mosley looked very sharp in the Forrest fight, he just lost. Even in the Holiday fight he looked sharp, but just more like his timing was off or something as he was sick.

The worst Shane has looked IMO was the Mayorga fight, in which he looked so shit bad I walked out before the ending. The 2nd Oscar fight was the 2nd worse that Shane has looked.
