Really? Cos the way it looks like here is that everyonehas bought the GBP created stink hook line and sinker. Maybe because they want to?

I don't know what to make of it. What I do know however, is that it's going to take some solid to make me worry about it. Especially considering the source of the accusations. With all the talk in the past few months about MOsley's testimony and what it might mean to him, this came as a perfect time to deflect the talk from Shane to someone else.

    Real convenient that.

The problem with this line of thinking is that HBO reported that the COMMISSIONER is the one who spoke of the hard, plaster like substance.

Margarito's camp allegedly said it was gauze...wet gauze.

So Golden Boy and Shane Mosley had Margarito's people attempt to put a "plaster-like substance" on his hands to deflect Shane's testimony about his admitted use of steroids?

there is no question which is worse, Illegal wraps/plaster wraps is comparable to bringing brass knuckles to a fist fight. Steroids don't make you super-human they enhance your ability to train and get into better physical shape. Putting the equivalent of brass knockles on your hands is worse than cheating, its a fucking weapon.

This is a poor take from you Tam.

that does make sense except that dean lohuis is a fucking idiot who is hardly beyond reproach. california really is a shitty boxing state as far as the officials, judges and referees are concerned.

Its relevant to the issue of ethics. They are seperate issues becasue one is immanenently harmful and one is potentially harmful, like the difference between two types of manslaughter. It makes a diffrence if somoene is killed by accident or through premeditated actions.

Ethics? The mentality of a cheater is something common within them all. It's born from fear. Ethics has nothing to do with cheating. Those who cheat have none.

Deciding whats worse is not something Im at all interested in.

    Hitler or Pol Pot?

Cheaters are cheaters, I don't care if they are roiders or wrapped their hands like casts, it's not right and in every case IMO they are guilty till proven innocent. And in just about every case I have seen the accusation is warranted.

History plays a role. We have the ugly Resto-Collins incident in boxing's past.

If a fighter were killed/permanently injured in a fight in which his opponent was found to have been juiced up, then a lot of people's viewpoints would be different.

  19. Tam Tam

I'd be seriously suprised if that hasn't happened already. More than once. Being found is the problem.

Hey guys, I just re-watched the end of Margarito-Cotto. Marg was not acting like someone who had illegal wraps. After the fight, he took his gloves off and walked around with his wraps on the entire time. He did his interview with Kellerman with his wraps on.

I don't know... if my wraps were as hard as concrete, I probably wouldn't have been waving them around and shaking peoples hands so blatantly.

As I watch more, you can see Margarito shaking hands with people at ringside as Lampley and Steward speak after Margarito's interview. Again, the wraps are on.

It's not merely a case of 'what's worse' here, though. It's the propensity to cause serious physical damage which is in issue.

I'm not saying that I agree per se with Jaws here, because there is a direct causative line from:

steroids-----increased fitness and muscle-----increased power----physical damage in bout

BUT when a guy cheats in a way which absolutely and directly effects the damage being caused by punches, then there is an argument that what he is doing is worse, because his MOTIVE is simplistic and brutal.

IMHO, criminal charges should be brought against any fighter and his representatives if there is sufficient evidence to prosecute them. Boxers are generally exempt from prosecution because they accept the risks when the fight, but they accept the risks in accordance to the pre-determined rules.

When those rules are infringed in such a direct way, that consent is effectively withdrawn; NO fighter consents to boxing against someone who has plaster fucking pads hidden under his wraps and gloves. That is, at least, assault and battery for my money...

    Yep.

Complete opposite scenario from the last time someone clearly loaded their gloves... Sven Ottke vs. Joe Gatti. Sven left the ring after 10 or 15 minutes of interviews with his gloves on after scoring the 7th or 8th KO of his career.

is this image supposed to confirm or disconfirm something? if his loaded handwraps were undetectable prior to the fight why would they be detectable after it? another in a long line of ill-conceived attempts on your part to ignore facts that aren't convenient to your agenda.

  25. Mitchell Kane

Mitchell Kane WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Hypoethically, if there was an object underneath the wrap, then how visible/detectable would it have been if all he took off were the gloves?

I don't know many fighters that walk around with gloves on well after a fight is over...and cutting off the wraps in the ring might've been a bigger risk of exposure than leaving them on.

  26. Father of Muzse

    Father of Muzse Undisputed Champion

The way I understand it the object was under the padding, therefore you couldn't see it until the wraps were cut off. Reread Nazim's account.

What's bothering me is the excuse given by the camp...they deny the plaster of paris, but acknowledge the hardened substance. Is it logical to think he couldn't feel the texture of the "hardened" gauze. Makes no sense.
