I asked you the other day if you ever picked Margarito to win and you said only in the Williams fight.

I was just saying congrats, you finally got it right.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad Shane won. I was rooting for Shane to win, I just didn't think he would. He surprised and impressed the hell out of me in this fight. Shane is the fucking man no doubt. This is one of the best performances of his life. It's up there with the first Oscar win. Margarito was the man and Shane whooped his ass.

    I picked Williams over Margarito.
I slightly favored Cotto, although my Vegas betting slips show otherwise, so lets call that one a wash.
I don't if I made on official prediction here, but I liked Margarito by decision over Mosley really clearly.

Good job Reed you called it

I just don't understand the people on the forum that see all of the "skill" in guys like Margarito and Pavlik, who've I've never been impressed by either, who bring nothing special whatsoever, and are just a schooling waiting to happen.

I think it's clear that Margarito's handwrapping practices fooled many of us into thinking that he was something special. And it would certainly account for his ability to force every opponent he faced to move back (not to mention his ability to tear an opponent's ear off).

And his hands always did seem unusually heavy, much in the way Trinidad's did.

Margarito without his plaster may be dead in the water.

What's amazing is if you make the assumption that Margarito used plaster against Williams, and landed plenty, that Williams was not only able to carry on over 12 rounds, but also to win the fight.

Also, I think in light of the possibility that Margarito has been loading his gloves all along, Cintron's performances need to be reevaluated. In the first fight, he was very much a rookie and no doubt ill-prepared to be his with plaster peres. And no amount of experience, referring to the rematch, would've prepared him once again to hit with what was essentially a brick.

The only thing that can be said of Margarito now is that he has a good chin and can turn south-paw on a dime. Other than that, it remains to be seen if he's even a top 10 fighter in light of Saturday's findings.

I also think that an offense like this should be considered a criminal act and that Margarito should be prosecuted accordingly. Even if they can't prove he's done it in the past, it would seem he's in the very least guilty of what I would call attempted assault with a deadly weapon.

    Good post.

Honestly, when the news came out that he was caught red handed like that, I am amazed the fight was even allowed to go on, even sans special wraps.

Marge should be suspended for a year or 2, and possibly charged as you suggested.

Do you think Mosley should be banned for two years for doping?

If he was taking performance enhancing steroids, he should have been suspended too yes, but for a lesser amount of time. Steroids are nowhere near as hardcore as fucking loaded gloves.

Shane looked stiff and shit when he was allegedly juicing.

some of you are full of shit!

you can't have it both ways. You can't say your impressed with Shane's performance and at the same time claim Margarito is a bum that got exposed.

People quickly forget how Margarito destroyed Cotto. The same Cotto that shane couldn't beat a year and a half ago.

I was impressed with Shane but I won't turn around and pretend Margarito was never good.

I also think it's fair to question Margarito's hand wrapping situation. But you also have to question Shane and his Balco situation. Clearly that hasn't gone away either.

I just think people go overboard after a win or a loss. Especially an upset!

The only fight Margo ever impressed me in, was the Cotto fight.

And even then he looked one dimensional, slow and incredibly easy to hit.

To me, Arturo Gatti at his best BLOWS away, Antonio Margarito at his best By leaps and bounds.

sorry. but ridiculous. gatti lost ti manfredy, robinson, and ward. only way your statement isn't complete nonsense is if in fact margarito's biggest wins were enabled soley by loaded gloves (which is completely possible by the way....).
