Where will Shane be ranked now? And if Margarito was like #7, debuting in the list after the Cotto victory, will be pushed out? or will he be placed #10 and push Cotto out of the list?:dunno:

Probably push Margarito out of the list cause he got dominated by an old man....

I think he will be placed #9 or #10 by most P4P lists thus pushing Cotto out of the list (he is #10 in The Ring Magazine).

I don't think any welter is dominant enough over the rest of the division to crack the top 10. It's like musical chairs right now

Mosley will definitely be placed again among the top ten now. No doubt about it. Here is the most recent The Ring Magazine Top Ten list (gee, I was wrong: NOW Cotto is #8!):

    1. Manny Pacquiao, welterweight
    2. Juan Manuel Marquez, lightweight
    3. Joe Calzaghe, light heavyweight
    4. Bernard Hopkins, light heavyweight
    5. Israel Vazquez, junior featherweight
    6. Antonio Margarito, welterweight
    7. Rafael Marquez, junior featherweight
    8. Miguel Cotto, welterweight
    9. Ivan Calderon, junior flyweight
    10. Ricky Hatton, junior welterweight

IMO Rafael Marquez should not be in the top ten list. Didn't he lost twice in a row to Israel Vazquez in his last two fights and hasn't fought in almost a year?:nono:

That's the problem with the list. They put BOTH guys that have close fights and trilogies in.

Morales was still top 10 P4P after Manny spanked him too

The only thing certain is Manny being #1.

The rest of the list is so fucked up i couldn't even bother trying to debate who belongs at what number.

Have a computer generate a random list and you could argue in support of it.

I think Margarito drops out, and Shane jumps in level or just behind Cotto. Margarito did beat Cotto, and may well have his number....but i still consider Cotto to be better overall.

Margarito have to be out of the top 10 because they lost their last fight, along with R. Marquez. Get Dawson in the top 10!!

I agree that Margarito probably drops out....but i don't think that should go for anyone who loses.....the manner of defeat, and who it was by should be considered.....if you lose to someone who is ranked higher by consensus, then you really shouldn't drop too much unless the defeat is heavier than expected

.....of course it is all subjective, and we all have our own mangled methods, but that as a rule is a little narrow minded

I think stoppage losses should automatically DQ you from the top 10 P4P. Basically, I'm sick of the "pairings" dominating the top 10.

    I don't.

I think it depends...on the opponent, the weight, the fight, etc.

For example, I'm not sure Hatton should've just been out because Mayweather knocked him out.

Let's say that Fraud returns to the ring to challenge Mosley...it will be a shame that an undefeated champion like Ivan Calderon & Ricky Hatton would be pushed out of the top ten to make way for those two while Rafael Marquez will stay with his two defeats because he is ranked higher.

He should. Even if he lost a close decision to Cotto, he beat from pillar to post Cotto's destroyer in a major upset that revived his career like the mythological phoenix bird.

So because B beat C, he's better than A, who beat him? Great logic.

Come on man. You act like Shane was outclassed. It could have gone either way. So being that fight was even, Cotto got STOPPED and Shane STOPPED Margarito. I'd give the nod to Shane.

Shane WAS outclassed, IMO. Shane has one big win in the last...how many years? And it's over a borderline "P4P'er" in Margarito (who only got ranked cos he beat Cotto) and he should be in front?

P4P is stupid if you're basing placement because of fights invilving others, instead of relevant history between the two. Cotto has wins over good fighters in recent years. Mosley has the one...and the loss to him as well.

Well Mosley has more relevant fights in his resume than Cotto. He is a future Hall of Fame candidate. And this victory has put him again at the top of the division. I see no reason why he should not be ranked higher than Cotto...and higher than overrated twice-in-a-row-loser Rafael Marquez.

Relevant fights like what? De La Hoya in 2000? How about Roy Jones, he had Toney a few years ago. Thats far more relevant.

Where do you draw the fucking line for christs sake. He's been a big fight, fighter for a long time... but not a big fight winner for about as long.

I would rate them Margarito, Cotto, Mosley or maybe Cotto, Margarito, Mosley.
