right on the money, the only guy he would come back to fight is Pac. The biggest shame is he never had the sack to face the WW division's elite fighters, Mosely,Cotto,Margarito, or Williams. And he would never come back and fight any of them now.

One of the best things about Floyd retiring, so far as I could see, was that people might stop fucking talking about him.

    Some hope...

Let's not forget Mayweather/Mosley could have happened 2 years ago when Floyd called him out. But Mosley passed on it because his tooth was hurting after a fight.:dunno:

mosley mayweather couldve happened I'm 1998 when mayweather didn't want it. it certainly didn't make much sense for either financially then. 11 years later it is still a meaningful/relevant fight. that says a lot for the longevity of both guys

But hearing Floyd tell the story, Shane ducked him...which is completely untrue.

    here's the thing...

They could have fought then (Shane would have won) and both could have gone on to the same careers they've had...just like Jones and Hopkins.

That's not exactly true...Shane knew the DLH fight was on the table. Wasn't long after when DLH-Mayweather was announced.

Well we know Shane does not duck people.

I don't know Muze the Jones Hopkins fight? i know Hopkins will never forget it and would love not to have made that move when he did. Yeah financially it would have been prudent but it is the one thing people can hang over his head.

Mayweather is hard to beat by any one dimensional guy Muze. I think the Shane that fought a few days ago is the best shane we have ever seen in many respects. If he caught Floyd in a layoff/ "ave to fer da money" fight and stuck with this coach it might be interesting.

You viscious ract baiter you! always rooting for the creole guy against the black man... the nerve!!!

Shane's handspeed was off the charts at lightweight...better than Floyd's I say.

I would have taken that version of Shane due to his handspeed, chin (we now know he's got a good one) and most importantly when you mix that handspeed with his aggression and no worry about what's coming back...that overtaxes Floyd's defense. he simply can't avoid all those shots. Shane's no where near as fast now as he was then.

the difference in speed (now) between Shane and Floyd would be apparently very early. Margarito is so incredibly slow, it made Shane look better (handspeed wise) relative to this competition.

Thats true. What do you think about Floyd's fight with Judah then? I mention this becauce obviously Judah has speed in spades as well.

I had Judah winning three of the first four rounds against Floyd. Judah's a mental midget and prone to falling apart physically and mentally.

Plus, take into consideration that Mosley is slightly taller than Floyd (not by much) but more importantly he'll have a reach advantage. I think at 135, the optimal Mosley would have had too much offense, speed and aggression for Floyd.

Floyd could potshot and beat Mosley now, but if Shane got in good bodyshots early I'm not certain how well Floyd handles it. Toss in ring rust from being out of the ring...if Floyd's timing is a little off then Mosley makes it very interesting later (speaking in terms of them fighting now)

I am with you on if they fought today... Especially considering that Shane showed a most remarkable fiat... the ability to change. Floyd is stronger than people think, the hatton fight for example a great example. He can take it to the body unlike Tony. But yeah, if they fight in the near future it will be a thriller.

Judah gave Floyd trouble because of his southpaw stance and insane speed/reflexes. Mosley has none of thise. He'd be following Mayweather all night.

I think I'm in agreement that Shane beats Floyd at 135, and I'm a bigger fan of Floyd than I am Shane. But you're correct that Shane would be a style nightmare for Floyd, by virtue of his speed and strength.

Right now I'd probably favor Floyd, but Shane would be live. He'd certainly give Floyd a better run than Hatton did. And the shots that KO'd Hatton, Mosley will just shake off and keep coming.

I think Floyd's biggest problem is that he is at heart a "creation" i.e. he is not as fast or naturally talented as people think.. his is rather very well trained with excellent technique, strength (yes strength dude is strong and can turn people around) and timing. Floyd also knows how to execute a plan and stick to it... he is coachable.

Thing is if Floyd gets a little behind this way he could fall apart and be overcome by someone with great speed or power.
